  1. Skatezilla's GUI updater utility does this. You simply select a preset, launch DCS, configure as desired, then close DCS. It simply saves the current settings as selected preset when DCS closes.
  2. Wags posting something about that too, in mini updates I think. The short answer is 4.
  3. What about assert:loadfile? Works in the ME.
  4. I'll be keeping a sharp eye on this thread. Keep us posted, buddy.
  5. You can subscribe to the thread to get instant notifications by email, that's what I do.
  6. If anybody had the relevant files from before the fix (I'll use fix without sarcasm since many users asked for this) I could use those like a mod.
  7. I'm looking to do a few cockpits, but I just can't get good results. I'd assume you've made your own templates. I was thinking about having a play with making a Russian style blue cockpit for the '18 to see if I agree with the theory behind it (less eye fatigue looking inside and outside the pit.) I've thought of a few others, but that was my latest example.
  8. A while back there was a 'bug' in which NVG's would only show in one eyein VR. I'm probably the only person that liked this, but is there any way I can get it back? I'm pretty familiar with editing files/installing mods, but I'm not sure where to start. I took a look at the shaders and nothing jumped out at me. Thanks.
  9. I'd guess it got the kibosh when the paid carrier module and updated kuznetsov died. Would love to see a coumminity mod for it though, if even only a fresher external model.
  10. I highly recommend Dslyecxi's video "Flying & Landing the Huey in DCS". It's very (old) informative and well-spoken, as Dslyecxi tends to be, and should help a lot. He goes into the theory of helicopter aerodynamics and operation, but only as deep as is required. He does mention that this video is to help people who fly helos in non-sim games like ARMA, but it applies just as well to people who are new to the genre altogether, as I was when I first watched it. (Jesus, was that really 4 years ago?) anyway, linky thing:
  11. My understanding (from Raytheon's industrial advertisements) is that the skeets can ID specific vehicles, the idea being they won't attack friendly vehicle i.e. an HMMWV. Wouldn't that suggest that they need a pretty clear picture of the target?
  12. So the Charlie time uses the set cycletime - elapsed cycle time - 5 minutes (the time it takes to complete the turns) so it will output negative numbers is certain situations. Only when it's about to turn up I didn't bother to put in a floor.
  13. Tell that to the Ardennes :music_whistling:
  14. Did you forget to set the coordinate type to mgrs from (the default) LL?
  15. Can't speak with any authority on this, but I assume the rough answer would be "not very." As a system, it only works if the target is visiable. There might be some IR transmission through tree tops, but I can't imagine there would be much. Remember the system (like so many others) was designed to destroy a literal horde of tanks swarming into Eastern Europe, where they would be in the open for pretty much of the time.
  16. Devrim, is there any chance at all you'd be willing to lend some assistance to a fellow modder? :helpsmilie::music_whistling::helpsmilie:
  17. I'll check how Charlie time is calculated and see if I made a mistake before the next update. I have a few other changes in mind, so I'll add that to the to-do list.
  18. All Hail Wags! That said, I'd like to see detailed FM information added to the changelogs in future if practicable. (famous last words...)
  19. If you keep full power and nose high attitude, you'll go into a power spin. Come to think of it, I got one in to a flat spin last night when I pushed too hard knowing I was dumping coolant and was going down anyway.
  20. New setup video uploaded in 2nd post, I got a lot of questions after the last (bad) one.
  21. I know technically they do, but it doesn't really "kick in" until fairly close to the end of travel. This is more tonprevent having to crank the steering wheel at the extreme end of travel for parking. Not something one would ever notice while actually driving.
  22. Can you post some screenshots? Also, pre-update screens if you happen to have any. If you're using a mod like the clearer text for high res mod the update will break them, so that could explain it.
  23. I've said many times I don't use curves on any joystick for any module. The extreme is a pretty precise joystick, so I'm surprised it's giving you trouble. I've always thought that the non-linearity of using curves actually makes it more difficult, as the stick deflection to control rate ratio is constantly changing. Cars don't have progressive steering or brakes, so why should a plane? I haven't used my e3d for a long time though, so I'd be interested to know if for some reason the Hornet doesn't like it.
  24. Are you implying the fine men and women at Raytheon would purposefully inflate their numbers?
