What PC should I build?
Gnadentod replied to steelrfan85's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Yes. No, you defended the point of buying a HDD over a SSD and I explained to you why it's stupid several times. You misinterpreted my texts when I was talking about you can or will get stutters. It's not the same word in my book and in everybody elses except yours it seems. Nice one, I like you mein Kamerad, du verstehst es. Over & Out. -
What PC should I build?

Like took time to test it just for the sake of testing? No. I had a HDD and DCS World myself with only 8/16GB of RAM and a newer system with a SSD instead, that's how I know. If you want to do yourself a favor with DCS don't buy a HDD in 2019 honestly. -
How are new 20 series cards with VR in DCS?
Gnadentod replied to LC34's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Depends on what you mean with "VR". Quite a difference between a Pimax and Oculus headset honestly. Certainly. Afaik 2080Ti isn't "enough", which is also subjective of course. This is especially true for a Pimax/HP Reverb one. -
Unveiling the VKB TECS Throttle Control System

Me aswell, any updates on this? -
In case you didn't know about these https://foxxmount.com/. When I build my setup I will get those for my HOTAS, you tell him what kind of setup you have and which measurements, then he builds them and sends them to you. Leaving this here.

As far as I can tell both the GPU drivers (which is less of an obstacle honestly) and the software of the application you want to use must be "written" for VR SLI. It seems that SteamVR SLI is working and that's because it was made for SLI in VR from the start. Not so DCS as of now sadly. Mate, Pimax 5k+ and 8K are out, this isn't true at all anymore. I wish I could have the benefit of a SLI setup just for DCS VR with Pimax.

Because you had enough RAM and the system never had to actually use the HDD while in flight. If you would buy 16GB RAM today, a HDD, use high graphic settings and fly the multiplayer missions which are heavy on the system/have a lot of different units this time I can promise you you will get stutters at some point. Not so if you had 32GB RAM in the same situation. He hasn't had stutters because I'm wrong with what I said but because he never forced the system into a situation where a SSD is of advantage (in-flight). That's why initially I said you can get stutters and not will get stutters. Nice misinterpreting my posts, the best part is the "make it credible" as If I haven't already. Look up the definition of the words can and will have and you might - I hope - notice a difference. All go ahead and stop buy SSD for DCS and buy HDDs, hurry up, wanna see them "what should i upgrade?" threads. What are you waiting for guys? Sell your SSDs and buy HDDs right now because they're 30$ cheaper! It makes no difference trust me! -
DCS can handle SLI and you get a performance increase but not in VR as of now, only on 2D screen. It must be implemented on the software side, don't ask on which exactly since it can be a bit confusing.

What this guy is doing is borderline trolling. I surely won't encourage stupid behaviour and clap him on the shoulder. Wait for the guys buying a HDD instead of a SSD because he is spreading the lie that it doesn't make any difference. These are the ones who crash into the mountains in low-level flight WVR or drive into your jet from behind on the taxiway because of their stutters. Or crash onto the deck of the carrier full of human pilots. No thanks. -
Do you reach 72 FPS with your machine and these settings and how consistent are those, which maps are you flying and which aircraft(s)? Do you barely get into Brainwarp area or does the FPS counter push towards 72 FPS "easily"?

It is clear after people have explained it to him more than 5 times, if you would've read my post you would've known it is not the first time I wrote him this. And it isn't really about the FPS indicator since you can't really see it there if you get the microstutters or stutters because of HDD usage. -

10/10 points. That's like the 7th post response he got to explain that having a HDD versus SSD does make a difference ingame. Maybe he will claim again that it makes no difference in another thread spreading the lies, wait for it. -

Do I come off as someone misleading people on purpose on a flight simulator forum? I had both systems, with a HDD and a SSD. You can even understand it with just some common sense on how the parts interact with each other (including the software, in this case "DCS"). You can get disgusting stutters because you're using a HDD instead of a SSD. This is literally the third time that I alone are explaining this to you in last two weeks, Bitmaster did aswell. If you still gonna insist on your statement then go ahead and discredit yourself right away. -
Lesson learned: Don't buy hardware on Amazon. It's good for small products for healthcare or such or only if you have no other option.

New Pimax pitool is up! Install new Nvidia drivers first!
Gnadentod replied to Naruto's topic in Virtual Reality
I've heard someone saying that you can forget about the lower Hertz modes anyway, they are trash (for now?). Don't know if Pimax can actually "fix" these with the software but it might be that the hardware in combination with the firmware/software will never achieve a good Smart Smoothing or Brainwarp experience like with the "native" 45/90 or 40/80 (8K) settings. There might be hope for these. -

That might be the case because you've never encountered a situation where you would have an advantage with a SSD over a HDD. Stop spreading this nonsense about SSD having zero influence on the game performance, it can clearly have. I've owned both while flying DCS, you on the other hand not. I've explained it to you in another thread two times already, yet you keep saying this. -
Did I say this is the only thing pulling more voltage or did you interpret my statement this way? And is saying: "Hyperthreading does not pull any voltage at all" correct? No, it isn't.
-
The platform itself (more modern socket on a new board, new fitting CPU and DDR4 RAM instead of DDR3, minimum 16GB). After this a GPU with more video RAM, but this can wait.
-
9900K has 16 threads, yours has 8 threads. So "double" the "power".
-
Good one on the GPU  happy flying.
-
When this is working as intended you shouldn't have any worries about needing a new chip soon, no degradation. The heat isn't as much of a problem as the voltage. If the CPU gets too hot it will just throttle and protect itself. If you have a voltage just below the crashing threshold but still high (which is subjective what that means and differ from chip to chip of course) then your chip still is degrading even if it never crashes (stable) or never runs too hot. This is "killing me softly". This of course only happens if you push the chip to its limits in terms of applications, degradation in a case of using paint 24/7 is unlikely.
-
Hold the ALT key and tap ENTER several times, it switches between fullscreen modes. (Holding) ALT + (tapping) TAB should do the same internally.
-
Good rig, I'd really wouldn't use 1.425V with those chips. If you're one of those people flying every day or every second day after work and hours on the weekend I would not go over 1.3875 or 1.4V if you don't want chip degradation and buy a new one in just a year or so.

GTX 1070 and GT 1030 with 6 displays FPS issue?
Gnadentod replied to xoxen's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
It's most likely the "lack" of VRAM, especially on textures on "High", 512 resolution and additional displays. -
The Motion Integrated G-Seat
Gnadentod replied to Bergison's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
If you ask me it wouldn't matter which module you're displaying as long as you can see what the seat itself is doing, like you did with the hornet video. I'm sure the best would be a 10 minute or so compilation of different modules for marketing purposes. Would you tell me how much its weight is, also for shipping purposes? With this seat you don't even need a dedicated "hardcore" simpit but you can relocate the seat to your desktop whenever you want to fly. Much better flexibility than a fullblown simpit. I love it.
