Having this aswell. I just unplug and plug the Reverb in again when needed.
-
You also need a separate powered PCIe card, NOT one which is pulling its power over the PCIe port. There are some options. It's just lottery all over again if you buy a normal card.
-
I'd bet that 70% or more of the "issues" buyers have/had with the Reverbs are because they are not receiving enough power. Even most units before the "big revisions" of HP.
-
Right click on the normal versions of these programs in Steam library and go to properties. There look for the dropdown menu where you can select "participate in beta" or something along this line. Then Steam starts a small update of these and you are now using the beta versions.

The original link you get for tracking after purchasing stops once it crosses the Russian border it seems. Of course, I didn't expect that it's possible to track using another delivery service with the same number. Even then my package didn't move for 9 whole days from Russia to Germany. Someone had this aswell?

Having my Reverb for a week but on a non DCS system I can tell you these: 1) You have the normal (outside Steam I mean) Windows Mixed Reality software already installed into Windows 10 as default. 2) Later, in Steam use the "Windows Mixed Reality for SteamVR" software in beta mode and "SteamVR" itself beta mode aswell. I've had very annoying software problems with the normal versions.

But it does matter, when the unit doesn't get enough power then how can you except to not get blackouts? Without a separate powering device it's like playing lottery if your Reverbs works or not. Do yourselves the favor and use a powered PCIe USB card or external powered hub just to be sure. These headsets are complete displays and not just one but two of them inside. Do you power your normal screen through USB and expect it to even start up? I know I don't.
-
I'll ask here instead of using e-mail before you get questions several times. Andre, as of now, tracking only works as long as the package is inside Russian territory. Are you able to provide tracking numbers which track the order outside of Russia to destination?

He must use a powered PCIe USB card or USB hub to eliminate the possibility that the unit isn't receiving enough power, did he?

HP Reverb, WMR, DCS is totally broken for me in VR?
Gnadentod replied to Crunchy's topic in Virtual Reality
Your post: "I thought that wags were going to do native WMR support for this and I have spent a lot of money on this sim for VR, which is unplayable for me due these problem." implies it, you're blaming ED for your problem. -
2400 MHz on RAM is the speed which the processors memory controller supports without being overclocked. You can go with faster RAM, this will overclock the memory controller, which translates into slightly more heat (the higher you go the more). Not a huge deal as long as you don't go over the top with RAM speed.

Try to buy from the original HP store and use the "HPREVERB1XX" coupon code, 639€ all in all until end of October (German HP store). I've received a unit without a dead pixel, no cable issue, no overheating issue, no flickering. There you have the highest probability to get the fixed ones. If you don't have a powered USB card/hub get one. I have this one: https://www.amazon.de/dp/B07P6MPXJ7?ref_=pe_3044161_248799201_302_E_DDE_dt_1 Flawless.

Do you start up the normal W10 WMR portal or the one inside Steam after starting and logging into it? Do you start WMR without a connected headset and then connect it manually? The normal WMR desktop option or virtual desktop as a separate app? Doesn't the WMR portal for Steam build on top of SteamVR or is it the other way around? Also, SteamVR isn't a standalone program as far as I know, how the f can the Steam process end itself but SteamVR is then still running I'm asking myself? SteamVR needs Steam to run no? I have no DCS at the moment, only testing the unit. So I don't know the "normal" starting sequence a DCS start triggers. Trying to find out if the errors are coming from the hardware/software and HMD/rest of the systems side.

What is the correct order for starting a SteamVR game using WMR and Reverb? There are several ways but I can't point out the "right" one. What do you do start first, second and so on? Just asking in general, I'm testing my Reverb unit for errors. Most of the time when I start SteamVR it says a critical error occured and needs to be restarted. Sometimes Steam (not SteamVR) kills itself with no error message.

Preload radius - what exactly does it do?
Gnadentod replied to sirrah's topic in Game Performance Bugs
It does preload a circle (or square, ask ED developers) around your starting position while loading into the RAM/VRAM. It also does load a new circle (/square) once you come too close to the edge of your initial preload radius while you're flying. This is the reason why a SSD is far superior to HDD in terms of performance not just in pre-flight loading but also while flying. -
Nobody knows what he means when he says he tested this and that headset. Is a whole review a "test" for him or was having the headset on for 10 seconds a "test"? Maybe he excluded the XTAL because it's not as known as the others/is so expensive in comparison.

GTX2080ti -- Is it worth paying the premium ?.
Gnadentod replied to Gunnergolly's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
No, DCS VR doesn't work so you do not get a performance boost when pairing two cards together. -
RiftS & DCS Performance Issues and Possible Fixes? Help required!
Gnadentod replied to PravusJSB's topic in Virtual Reality
It's a simulator and not a game, thank you. -
Real 2560x1440 x 2, not like the Pimax for example. FOV 170, horizontally I believe.

Computer shutdown while using DCS
Gnadentod replied to 1987kess's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Did you reinstall? Uninstall DCS, reboot and install it again into a different folder (slightly different name). -
Falling for the college trap^^

Not valid because it uses the old AGESA/BIOS versions, read carefully what I wrote. They are just one or two weeks old. You posted an article from mid July. https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=4036454&postcount=40 9900K is only "noticeably" faster than the high end Ryzen chips if you achieve ~5.2GHz and even then it's not worth to mention and call it a performance difference.
-
With the new BIOS updates for Ryzen the 3800/3900X chips are as fast as, if not faster than the 9900K in single core. So that's wrong in terms of real world performance later. Before you reply I'm saying that Ryzen 4.6 GHz equals Intels 5.0/1/2 GHz because it's a different architecture. It's roughly the same speed.
