  1. I will continue tweaking but currently shadows = Off makes little difference to me. Sat in the Hornet on the template mission, initial load as I'm looking toward the castle is 30-35. If I taxi to the stern, looking to seaward its 40, turning back toward the deck its 25-30. I'm now messing with Occulus tray tools and seeing if supersampling there rather than DCS makes any difference. (ASW mode off)
  2. I am also experiencing very poor performance around the carrier. My rig isn't cutting edge but is it that poor (see sig)? Having read through the thread I see a lot focusing on the capability of the orginal OP's system, which I think is clouding the issue somewhat, as is the idea that its too many aircraft / ground assets, when a few users have clearly just plonked an empty carrier on the sea and have experienced the same poor performance. I will try further testing today and clear my shader cache. I will also ensure SSLR is disabled to see if that improves things.
  3. *Coughs* Bullsh** :D
  4. Ahhhhh, I know understand the question by Lange. When you click on each image they do revert to normal though. (which is just as well as my balance isn't what it used to be)
  5. @Miles Really looking forward to ordering the new FCU's when ready. I now use the Hornet stick so will be handy to have a smaller form factor. Also good news about the button customization. I was thinking of also getting an extra strip for the headset in order to assign it things like 'hook up' and the 'salute' for the new SC addition. @Rougue Looks great! I have now moved my board to a separate desk and have used a gym floor mat (nice black slightly spongy material) against a peice of MDF. I like the material you've used though so will have to try and find that over here. Hat's off to Andrew for the idea and you for the execution of it! Great stuff.
  6. I thought the new one is on the left! :D They look great Miles, nice job! Quick question, if we wanted to upgrade to the new FCU's (great name by the way ;)) would they work OK with the existing HMS? Cheers
  7. Looking at Spudknockers vid it looks like all the deck crew have idle animations. I think they've done a great job on all of these. The only thing I think could be improved is the running/jogging animations. When they move as a group it looks like they're running in slow motion as opposed to jogging. A minor point but would be nice to have that tweaked a bit more.
  8. Hi Shadow, I too just stumbled upon this post ( You had me at...F18 VR Simpit! ;)) Just wanted to say what a great job you've done, it looks fabulous! I fly in VR and use Miles' PointCtrl. (Which I think is perfect for VR). I have very much a 'function over form' setup and interact almost exclusively within the VR cockpit, save for joystick and throttle. But I did setup a board in front of me that I use to give some resistance when I reach out and 'click' the various controls. I did try putting MFD's up and thought about putting the various switches in their correct positions but ended up always never quite getting myself in the same position, which made reaching and connecting to the controls very hit and miss, so gave up on it. Therefore I would be interested to hear how you get on with 'calibrating' yourself, so to speak, to the pit? Most of the time its not an issue, but things like gear and flaps would be easier to use through 'muscle memory' as opposed to having to look down, hover cursor over, click switch, etc. I would truly love to do the same type of pit but fear my woeful DIY skills would leave me floundering in the drink so hats off to you and others that can pull it off!
  9. Hopefully its fixed, though I did notice the preview vid of the guy who used the elevator, as soon as he taxied onto it, his plane started jigging around a lot. Though its possible that area was still WIP.
  10. Thanks for that. I will try some more refuels, if no joy might look at re installing Team Speak. Cheers!
  11. I believe I heard one of the preview'ers had mentioned that the rough weather isn't working right currently for the carrier, so thats still work in progress.
  12. @Hollywood, apologies as I've been out the loop for a while. Currently Viacom is working for me, except for any type of coms (carrier/airfields/tanker, etc). Should it be working currently? *EDIT* After further testing. It seems like the ATC works but air to air refuelling just won't activate through Voice but works as per by coms menu.
  13. Are they a Village People tribute band? I guess it will depend on how 'expensive' the idle animations are. Could be a good option though.
  14. @Flamin_Squirrel: I think we will have to agree to disagree on this one. You are clearly seeing things very differently to me. Peace. Out!
  15. I would agree with your first part, cetrainly the release to other parties might not be the final build but it would likely only differ by having less bugs as opposed to missing features. What would be the point of giving the module for others to review if it was missing all the features that they wanted to show off? Second point, in what part of my statement did I suggest this was some kind of conspiracy? Please point that out. My post was simply my thoughts on ED, yet again, scoring a bit of a PR own goal with their customers, having already gone throught the "its ready, no its not, Ok its going to be ready...actually it's not." With everyone waiting for news about the release the news they give is that its going to be released next week to some media and not the players. That Sir, to me is irony not conspiracy. Both ending in a 'y' I admit, but thats where the similarity ends.
  16. Errr, why would you not? Do you think they are going to create a seperate demo that strips out just certain aspects of the whole module, to then release the full module in two to three weeks, because I don't.
  17. Sorry, you didn't apply my sarcasm filter, (irony donesn't always translate well ;))... what I was trying to point out is that they deem it OK to release to outlets that will get them more sales but don't feel it ready to put it out to those of us who have already paid for it. In other words it feels like another kick in the nuts to those of us who have already paid for something that someone else will start using next week.
  18. Well just read the weekly email. "We continue to develop and bug fix DCS: Supercarrier for an Early Access release later this month and we hope to be providing a preview to our partners and social media channels next week." Excellent news, it would seem the Early Access build will be good enough to ship to ED's partners and social media channels next week, but not good enough to ship to the people who preordered it? Nice!
  19. @Andrew, I thought you were going to go with.."I'm so impressed with pointCTRL...I bought the company!" :) Side note...it's a game changer for DCS and VR for me!
  20. And as promised, Miles sorted it! Looks like it was indeed IR interference. I had also been keeping the right FCU on, but down by my side, in future its safer to just switch off while calibrating! As always a pleasure to catch up with you Miles, a true Gentleman and with great customer care!!! Also pleased to report the 'board' or ViCE (Virtual in Cockpit Emulator), as I like to call it...:D, is again working great and adding a nice additional level of immersion for me. Cheers!
  21. Hi Rogue sorry to hear it didn't work out for you! I know what you mean about the angles being wrong. Mine was working OK but I had noticed my RL 'cockpit' didn't align with the DCS one. (It was actually higher up than it should be.) I thought by recalibrating I could improve it, but as usual things didn't go to plan and now my FCU's aren't working correctly. I reset everything, tried a five point calibration (which works fine) but when I exit out of the setup menu my cursors are flitting about all over the place and I no longer have any control of where I point. Just came on to see if anyhone else had simmilar issues. Will try and jump on DISCORD to see if Miles is about to offer any advice! *EDIT* OK the reset works. If I reset, the FCU's are tracking properly again. However as soon as I run the setup and go through the 5 point calibration (which again runs through prefectly) I exit out and now my right FCR brings the cursor up on the left side of the aircraft and moves backwards (I move my hand left, the cursor goes right) and vice versa for the left FCU. Weird!
  22. Yes, as Rougue says, it's just to stop my finger kind of just hovering out in space. It helps me steady my 'shooting hand' ;) (thoughts of Blazing Saddles springs to mind). So the hovering cursor isn't quite so frantic. I have only started messing with it but it feels I have more of a connection with the space i'm in now. If that makes sense?
  23. First off the bat, I just wanted to thank Andrew for your genius idea! I started putting something together yesterday with what bits I had laying about and came up with the attached. It's safe to say I have adopted a 'function' over 'form' asthetic!!! LOL. It does however work a treat! I did play a little with putting physical keys where the buttons would go and using a keypad for the UFC. But it was too hit and miss as for one sitting it was spot on, I would get up sit back down and the geometry would be off. So have just gone for the simple approach. I have a keyboard shelf that Im sitting it on. The main thing I had to sort was making it stable. Seems to work OK even with my limited DIY skills! Might get round to painting it properly at some point but for now its fine. Thanks again Andrew for the inspiration and Rougue just wanted to say, you have a great setup!
  24. Got it! Ha, finally it all makes sense. Just tried it and your method works!!! (I never doubted you for a moment! :D) Thanks so much for taking the time to expalin the finer points of mouse scrolling. Though I should have found that out myself, so sorry for taking up more of your time.
  25. Hey mate. Yes good to be back! I find myself at home for the last week or so, can't imagine why...Unfortunatley I feel that will be changing shortly. Thanks so much for the info. Sounds great! I will certainly be trying your suggestion. I find most rotaries are OK with the buttons. (MFD dimmer's, etc.) it is the course selector dial that I can't really control. It's the fine tuning bit that I need. So will try what you suggest. But look forward to your future iterations! And please don't cut down on your post lenghts, the info is invaluable!
