Hi. In the last update to 1.5: "DCS can be closed by Alt+F4 combo (need to add ‘respect_alt_f4 = true’ line to autoexec.cfg)." I can't seem to find this file! Where is it and where exactly to add this line? Doing it in autoexec.lua (it is in two locations!?) did not work...

Same experience. Returning my Strix 1080 after two weeks. On the low settings it needs to run DCS at 90 FPS my old MSI 760OC also runs at 90 FPS! Will wait couple of years to upgrade my whole rig to next gen CPU/RAM, or until DCS optimizes for VR... (((

Nvidia 372.54 serious performance drop?
TAW_Impalor replied to Ala12Rv-watermanpc's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
No change for me: same FireStrike mark, same DCS performance. And by the way, the latest DDU hangs on my system after cleaning the drivers. Must kill it and manually reboot PC... -
Yet another noob question, please don't hit me...
TAW_Impalor replied to sirrah's topic in Virtual Reality
As promised, some comments after upgrading my GTX 760 for 1080. At first, I did NOT see much improvement in VR or on a monitor. FPS gain with the same settings was about 50%, not 200% I expected from the reviews. But then I changed Pixel Density from 1.0 to 2.5 (did not result in ANY FPS hit, unlike with my old 760), and reduced visibility to give the card fewer objects to draw, but with higher quality. Now the game looks nice, runs at 90 FPS in the sky/45 near ground, GPU utilization near 100%. I overclocked my CPU and GPU a little, but it did not improve FPS. So, indeed DCS is bottlenecked by DirectX 11, as some mentioned in other threads. -
To those interested, I found a better solution: http://vb-audio.pagesperso-orange.fr/Voicemeeter/index.htm#DownloadVoicemeeter The advantage over Virtual Audio Cable is that it can join left and right stereo channels to produce mono sound. This is better for buttkicker, otherwise the engine vibration depends on which way I'm looking.

I bound F-keys to my HOTAS. Got used to it this way. Voice Attack installed and configured, but don't like to use it...

When you put it on, you may pull out the cable from Rift -

Saw that thread. Did not stop me from ordering 1080 STRIX. Will receive it tomorrow and will comment. DCS is playable at PD 1.0 on my MSI 760 OC, but I want to read gauges and connect my TV/sound system together with Rift. -

I always build/upgrade my own PCs. I think within your budget you can afford current technology: GTX 1080, i7-6700k (more Ghz is better than more cores), DDR4 (16Gb minimum), good mobo... -
I used Virtual Audio Cable to split game sound into three devices: Rift, BK (on built-in Realtek) and TV/Receiver (NVidia HDMI). And I have 2 bat files to turn it on and off. Works great with all sims, not just DCS.

Any comment from Devs on this? The planes and other objects (pilot's body) are definitely too small. When I sit in Dora and peek at my physical shoulders via nose hole, they are wider than the plane's fuselage! I don't feel big in other games or Oculus demos... -
Hi, thanks, but this is not it. I tried changing the parameter to false. The problem is not the height of the camera, but the scale of all objects! When I sit in Dora and peek at my physical shoulders via nose hole, they are wider than the plane's fuselage! I feel like flying some scale models of the real planes. ((( I don't feel big in other games or Oculus demos...

I'm new to VR, playing with Rift CV1. I noticed everything in my DCS is roughly half the size it should be! Mig-21 is supposed to be 4.7 meters high, but it looks hardly higher than virtual myself in the garage. The ejected pilot from P51 is a midget up to my waist. The floor level in the garage is correct - when I lower my HMD to a physical floor in my room, I see the virtual floor right at my face. What am I missing? Am I the only one with this problem? I am normal, 6 feet tall or 1.85 cm. Rift is calibrated correctly to this height... Using 1.5.4 non-beta.

My Rift room-scales great with just one camera high up in the corner of the room. I can be as far as 4-5 meters from it, limited by CV1 cable...

Thanks to this thread, I made myself a little museum on Kuznecov carrier: Tu-160, Su-33, Mig-29, Mig-21 and Mig-15 - all on one deck. Unrealistic, I know, but fun to room scale (I can get up and walk forward in my setup). Feel free to try! VR - Tu-160 Carrier.zip

I too am confused. The manual mentions the two IFF switches but does not tell what they are doing. It tells to turn on only one of them (page 80): СРЗО SRZO "IFF" On RV35 At this point you are ready to taxi. So we seem to need to turn on both - one to see and one to be seen. Shame there are no key bindings for them. I have everything else automated with one flip of the switch.
-
Ok, got it. It's not the button on front dash called "SPRD Start", it's the button next to throttle activated by either "Drop Countermeasures" OR "SDRD Drop". Why two bindings? Anyway, now ready to go online...
-
Hi guys. I did not fly the 21 for a while and now I'm going crazy over not being able to deploy countermeasures. I see a few treads about it going stale three months ago. Was this bug fixed? Doing all correctly, I think... Edit: Found it here, with status unassigned: https://leatherneck-sim.mantishub.io/view.php?id=386 It says "randomly", but for me it's always, online and offline in all missions ((

VAICOM 2.0 for VoiceAttack
TAW_Impalor replied to Hollywood_315's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Hi guys. Messing around with this, but adding words one by one to the Speech Dictionary proved frustrating. Maybe some of you have come up with a macros or hack to dictate commands from the manual faster? Maybe it's somehow possible to use custom text with "Train your computer" in Speech Recognition control panel? -
Input Devices Re-Initialisation
TAW_Impalor replied to Dutch Baron's topic in Release Version Bugs and Problems (Read only)
I'm having this issue BIG time after installing CV1 today. It must be sucking too much power from my USBs, or whatever. The problem is not so much that DCS re-creates the same input devices with new hardware IDs, but that it assigns default key bindings to these joysticks!! So, besides each keyboard emulation assigned to a hardware button in my Target software, DCS may also execute a certain default action for raw buttons, creating total mess. Please, DCS, please, stop assigning default bindings to "newly" discovered devices!!! Going into settings and deleting those assignments is a nightmare! Not in the least part due to another bug: if I clean one plane and immediately go to next instead of pressing OK, DCS will invariably crash in the end, cancelling all my changes. Well, it does not crash per se, but the screen does black and I can only kill it. Thus, crash dumps were not created (( Logs attached, but I doubt they are useful. Logs.rar -

should the software install with my below-spec video card? I see no reason why not...
