  1. Pretty sure that's why the CMs dispenser switch exsists and why it needs to be safe'd during the landing checklist in addition to master arm. Because CMs can be deployed regardless of mode or master Arm position. Current behavior makes a lot more sense.
  2. The new sounds associated with missile launch are fantastic. Its not a huge thing, but it adds a lot immersion for me personally. My complements to the sound Chefs, well done.

Yeah I guess I am missing the point, where did ED state they were going to give us the ability in the hornet to hand off system targets to Link16 members?

SADL may not be as sensitive as Link16, USAF may have requested they add more features for their desktop trainers and were ok with that making it into the commercial version. Any number of reasons, but We don't know since none of us here work for ED and they are not under any sort of obligation to share their decision making with us. But I guarantee you ED has Google as well and it's quite obvious to all of us and them they we are missing functionality. But we can only guess why they add or don't add certain things to their products. However all that nonsense aside, even If they "could" there still the question of developmental resources and they don't owe us anything beyond what's listed in the product page and even that is written by them and subject to change. There's no reasoning for the levels of entitlement on these or many of the other threads floating around these forums.

You can go read the forums if you don't believe me those discussions have been going on for 10 plus years. What it has is quite bare bones compared to the real deal, but anyways. First off SADL does not equal Link16. Second what the network can and cannot do are key performance points. Why cant we have a modern Russian fighters in the game? Same answers, documentation and secrecy laws.

It doesn't, many of the SADL functions are missing or just got added with tank killer update. And DCS A-10C had a military customer attached too it.

I also don't expect everything that's in public docs. Do I think we should get it? Yes. But I don't think we'll get all of it. Things such as a full HSI simulation or full functionality of the Radar page options (such as RF channels, duty cycle options etc). Although they're explained in great detail, down to the electronics and the signal processing where applicable, in public documentation, I don't think we'll see all of them in DCS. Exactly, Well I'm sure they also have resource limitations can't expect them to model every single nut and bolt. But for stuff like the data link and EW suite, since it's an active duty Frontline fighter, I wouldn't expect too much more beyond what we have now. And what we have now is pretty comprehensive considering the state other ED products have to live with for a long time regarding those sort of capabilities. Let alone other Sims. Glass half full thinking.

As a rule of thumb if it's not in public available docs I don't expect it. Then I'm not disappointed. But we'll see what happens like you said. There's lots of things they were able to get in the sim that I didn't expect. The "everything is subject too change" slogan works both ways.

Lots of things regarding the datalink are very sensitive. Go figure. "Guessing" would be a great way to get them in trouble at worst. Or waste developmental time and resources at best, if they have to take it out after the fact.
  10. What's the difference in the AA department? I didn't know it was better.
  11. The biggest difference is a CATOBAR certification.
  12. There are loads of trainers in DCS, and pre 1980s jets that are excellent for Learning the fundamentals. Frankly all tape measures aside and pants pulled up. The tomcat is hard to fly, you cant tell it what to do. You have to reason with it. Some people love that, some hate it.
  13. Having the ability to break someones lock with ECM is an enormous advantage, I'd take that over the current "jammers" that just make radar not lock beyond X range any day of the week. SARH missiles can basically be turned off now lol
  14. Yeah from what I understand setting the dial to XMIT arms the system so when it detects a threat it does EW stuff to counter and that would also affect ownship radar so it silences it while it does it's thing.
  15. Oh ok, yeah when the hornet first came out, many were absolutely certain you could, but I don't know myself. Maybe its a difference in suites or not legacy like you said.
  16. Oh ok I see, I Appreciate the info, looking forward to the update. We're on the home stretch now!
  17. Great video by Wags. Questions I have are: Can we expect 60/60 CM loadouts, the ability to deploy with master arm off, and programing with WOW In the next update? Thanks!
  18. Yep with no engines and therefore no hydro pressure it's time to step outside of the jet.
  19. Also the MiG-29 9-12 is not completely Helpless even against modern fighters, you still have R73, and 27T/ET and possibly the best TWR of any fighter in the game. It's a monster dogfighter. You have pretty much every tool you could possibly want for WVR, insane STR, high G, high Alpha control, And phenomenal acceleration. It's as forgiving as a jet with FBW while still giving you unbelievable performance. All that Plus HOBS, and IRST. 120s are the biggest threat in the game for sure but IMO are really the ONLY thing the US jets have on it. Even the F-15. Take them away and it totally changes the balance.
  20. For 3D art department yes. Their main coders are working on finishing the harrier and mirage 2000. The 3D art on the F-15E must be close to finished based on images of the cockpit they've already shown us. They also have Mig-23, Super Tucano, and Mirage 3. All of which were announced prior to EE lightning. So I doubt it's their next module. My money is on MiG-23 first then F-15E. Since they have a separate coder for Russian jets, and that's his project. But who knows.
  21. 29K is also equipped with FBW.. Maybe someday Indian fighters like SU-30MKI and MiG-29K can get representation in DCS. In many ways they were the most advanced versions for a long time, and IMHO could provide both very realistic AND very competitive opponents for the mid 2000s hornet and viper.
  22. The flight model we have is already PFM, so it won't change much, minus the aforementioned fixes/tweaks and there are a few AFCS modes that aren't implemented yet. Like approach mode and route following. The WCS on the other hand needs a major overhaul, and the missiles need the new API. In other words nothing but good news, long overdue fixes. Plus ASM.
  23. Wikipedia says the missile costs close to 400K US so I don't think it's unreasonable to assume the missile has a pretty powerful computer strapped on to it.
  24. I'd say pre flaring works fine, since you did zero evasion, dumped few flares very slowly, yet still managed to spoof 2/10 missiles.
