If the Viggen is so close to completion, can we have a subforum to discuss it? Thanks.

It served in the Falklands war. It scored the only Argentine Air-to-Air kill by destroying a Westland Scout.

I voted for YES. I would hope that this twin turboprop could lay the foundation for other twin propellor aircraft like the B-25, A-20, Mosquito, Do-217, Ju-88, E-2 or others that RAZBAM could gather enough info on and has in interest in simulating. All of the aircraft I mentioned have an interest in the upcoming WW2 and naval content and could allow RAZBAM to appeal to those markets. If the IA58 variant that RAZBAM intends to simulate includes the capabilty to deploy the Mk13 torpedo, and naval related development in the global DCS world sphere is as good as I am feeling hype for, that would justify a purchase for me.

War is a game played with a smile. If you can't smile, grin. If you can't grin, keep out of the way untill you can. - Winston Churchill. Perhaps substitute War for Life and you'd had a decent quote :P

I understand now. It is called "Central Position Trimmer Mode" and is toggable in the special options menu for the Mi-8, Ka-50 and Huey. The SA342 does not have this option. I'd recommend making a post about it in the Enhancement thread and asking for that specific feature. I personaly don't use it. I just expect the controls spike as I release trim. Reason being the central position trimmer mode can cause unresponsiveness if you did not perfectly centralized the controls.

Woah what missile is that on the Serbian Gazelle? Is that a Malyutka? That would a cool weapon to have since its MCLOS (Manual Command Line of Sight. Control stick activity commands the control surfaces on the missile). Though the missile would fit an Mi-2, Mi-8 or Mi-24 simulation more :P Maybe in collaboration with BST?

Just watched your track. It's important to realise that the trim in the Gazelle does not work like it does in the Ka-50 Hokum. In that helicopter, the trim and autopilot are coupled. And releasing the trim at a certain attitude causes the autopilot to attempt to maintain that attitude. The Gazelle is not that 'high-tech'. The autopilot does not communicate with the trim like that. Trimming the gazelle merely causes it to hold the cyclic stick for you in a certain way. You should expect activity in the pitch angle as your speed changes or when you manipulate the collective. Corrections must be made using the 'fine' Trim Hat trim.

Please check the positions of the following switches. They should emulate the settings I have. The physical pressing of the magnetic brake button is no issue.

It is not possible to get Launch Authorisation when aiming at vector 003. This contradicts information supplied in page 37 of the manual. Some more useful information may be provided in this thread

After some more testing I found out a cause. It is feature and not a bug. The actual field of fire for the HOT3 is 5 degrees wide. For lefthand stations it is 357 to 002. And for righthand stations it's 358 to 003. There might have been some other causes in some screenshots I posted. But thinking back about when I started this thread I was trying to track a target traveling to my right with station 1 selected. Recommend to Polychop to update page 37 of the manual to reflect this limitation. EDIT: Eh.. scratch that. I now can't get a launch authorisation when looking at 003 with any station. And can get authorisation at 357 with any station. Should have been a bit more thorough with my testing EDIT2: I've been more thorough with my testing now and concluded it is indeed not possible to get authorisation when aiming at 003. This disputes information provided in the manual. I'll make a post in the bugs section

Firing rockets / missiles - no effect on yaw?
Sryan replied to Anatoli-Kagari9's topic in SA-342M Gazelle
Yes it is. The HOT3 missile is not fired from a 'chamber' like a pistol or rifle is. The superheated gases can escape through a port in the back of the launch tube. With no hot gases pushing against the rear of the tube, no recoil is expierenced. -
I remember the Su-25A being able to take-off and land on grass. I'm afraid we'll see people cross-countrying towards the runway instead of taxiing to it.

Go the top left of the forums. Click on 'User CP'. On the left you'll then find 'Edit Options'. A few scrolls down you'll be able to set your own timezone. And if you want to compensate for DST or not.

Nothing but praise from me. I don't even understand why it's still in beta? Apart from some minor things it looks complete to me.

Hello Wolle, Thanks for asking questions! I will try to answer them as best as I can, while using some understandable language. I hope it's all technically correct what I am saying but this is my understanding of it. There are two seperate trim systems. They are independant, however both are at their best when used in conjunction with the other. I'd describe the normal "T" trimmer as the 'raw' trim. I find it good for trimming a large amount of cyclic. Par example from hover all the way to fast forward flight. I'd then use the Hat Trimmer as 'fine' trim. Applying mild corrections to the attitude of the chopper. The fine trim is bound to the position of the raw trim but there's a major limitation. There's a limit on the maximum amount of deflection the fine trim can achieve. You could see I used this maximum deflection in order to do the lefthand turn in my video. If you change the position of the raw trim, it inherits the position of the fine trim as well. So you may still be facing the same limition as you where before. I personally press the raw trim button and then drag it to the position I want it to be in. So if you want a pitch angle of 10 degrees. Press T, move the stick forward. Release T. Then start using the trim hat to precisely achieve 10 degrees. I have been experimenting furiously for the last 15 minutes. but using the T trim does never inhibit the fine trim from moving in what I think should be a valid direction to move in. You might want to double check, the fine trim is slow after all. If the problem persists I recommend you make a post in the bugs section.

Hey everybody. The Gazelle has been out for a few days now. I've already seen a few instructional videos pop up however not a single one yet that has mentioned how to properly trim the Gazelle. While this is one of my first real tutorial videos I thought I'd fill the gap and make a video about what I have learned the past week. Hopefully it will help my fellow new pilots and the pilots who will be joining our ranks when the Gazelle gets released for the Caucasus map! I briefly tap into PIO and excessive bank as well and how to prevent it from killing you during your first few hours in the Gazelle. Since this is my first video and I am not a real pilot I welcome all criticism and feedback. Thanks! I personally prefer reading largely over listening. So all instructions are printed on the screen instead of having to try and listen what I have to say.

Gazelle checklist available for download.

Good job platypus! -
Nice stuff GrmlZ. I've been watching your stuff since the WT days. I recorded a bit of my own play the first day it came out. Found it amusing I was knocked unconscious during the landing and when I woke up I had a red-out before dieing. [ame] [/ame]

My full support :D Tu22M3 in DCS would be a day one purchase for me.

Thanks for your answers. However the quest continues. In both shots I can't turn on slave and have MAUVAIS light on. I forgot to tell before I still had the issue with low off boresight angle.
-
Greetings guys! I've recently started practicing shooting the HOT. However, something bugs me. At times the MAUVAIS light comes on for a reason I do not understand, and I cannot shoot. It's usually when I am behind a piece of cover, peaking over it using the VIVIANE. I let go of the autocollective and rise above cover to shoot but the mauvais light stays on. Only when I completely clear the obstacle by >10 metres and yaw the helicopter a bit do I seem able to get get the BON light on and shoot. I also note I have issues getting SLAVE to work as well around the same time I have issues with MAUVAIS. Is this a known thing? Am I doing something wrong? Master arm, selecting pylon, giving the camera 3 minutes to cool are all covered. Thanks for your time, Sryan.

You need to power up the Countermeasure dispenser system (page 126 of the manual)
