  1. I think the german FW200 condor is quite pretty.
  2. Vulnerability time
  3. That's true. It has a SAS system. A stability augmentation system. I'll guess we'll drop out the hog and the Ka-50 for now. The Ka-50 has autopilot channels that does similair things. I totally agree with the Huey statement. It's a lot of throttle, stick and pedal work to fly! Very cool and rewarding though. There's zero assistance, the only thing you can do is ask the AI co-pilot to take the stick so you can gun your enemies down :) The ai can only fly level or in circles depending on what you ask him to do. the AI's can also work the guns ofcourse. The correct term for the Mi-8 hip is "switchology". Like in the Fishbed there's a lot of things to press. I'd find it hard to recommend an non-afterburning jet to you. I would recommend the afterburning mirage but that's not what you're after, and while totally not the same, the mirage resembles the fishbed playstyle the most (not to mention that the mirage 2000 has an FBW computer). From the Korean era jets I own the F86. It's a brilliantly modelled aircraft. It has some radar/gyro controlled gunsight wich is very cool. But there are not many missions, no campaign (there's an upcoming paycampaign) and not that much MP action. Only the MiG-15 and Tu-95 are historically accurate targets in DCS. I also have the hawk t.1a, good stuff but it's going through some big updating right now with new flight model and everything and you might want to wait out how it all ends up being. The last thing I had in mind was the Su-25A. I don't know if you own FC3. And I know you wanted a fully clickable pit but the flightmodel has received a lot of love since FC2. It's faster and more agile than the computerized Su-25T. It still has some precision munitions wich are fun to use as you must steer the laser rangefinder/designator yourself. For "throttle&stick" mud moving the Su-25A is my go-to plane for sheer flying fun. In the near future. hopefully well before the mid of June, we'll have the SA342M Gazelle anti-tank helicopter. From the video's and streams it's looking to mount up to be a sweet module. Here's a link to one of the streams ( starting just before combat but you can restart it and watch from the beginning to see how to start it etc)
  4. an important question would be what do you want to get out of the aircraft. Do you want mostly thottle and stick flying, like the MiG-21? Or would you not mind something a bit more technological advanced? It's important because aircraft like the A-10 and Ka-50 are heavily computerized.
  5. Today, yes. But when FC3 came out only the F-15 had a good flight model, as well as the Su-25T wich it inherited from FC2. Today, almost all FC level aircraft have been updated with good FM's, some to PFM level. This year should mark the completion with the Fulcrum variants and the Flanker-D upgraded to PFM as well. Well DCS isn't a Pay to win game :) where the most powerful variant must always be bought. The T is also a bit more friendly to rookies without gear. with several autopilot modes that follow routes, innitiate approaches and hold altitude and attitude and the like. In the Frogfoot-A you must hold the stick and apply trim unless you are in stable, level flight. I noticed you seem to be in a stage where you are very impressed by the realistic power offered by precision weapons. Vedexent tried to explain this in post #11 as well. But I thought I'd put the emphasis on it once more. There's two kinds of aircraft. In one of the types you have as much an office job as you are a pilot. You take-off, then put the plane in one or another autopilot mode to let it fly itself and then start working on computer displays and keyboards. You're killing enemies who don't even know where it's coming from. People who like this type of flying might gravitate towards modules like the A-10C and Ka-50. In the Ka-50 you can never consider yourself trully effective if you cannot work the autopilot to do your bidding. This type of flying is fun and the weapons remain impressive for a long time, although after dropping JDAM #37584 from 25 000 feet on an unsuspecting tank the effect can wear off. Planes like the Su-25A do not have computer screens. The most important asset for this plane is you, the pilot. And how well you can work the throttle and stick. Combat is not about stand-off distances. It's about finding the target, move towards him, put the crosshair on his face and SHOOT. This type of flying is much more about adrenalin and violence than the other. This is also why you see people praising the Su-25A here, for it's speed and agility while it's clearly inferior to the T model in terms of capabilities. I personally love and fly almost all machines, including the aforementioned craft like the Ka-50 and A-10. But I also really appreciate the Su-25A.
  6. did you buy on steam or in the store here on the site?
  7. Large parts of the Su-25 fleet was never destined to be upgraded. Only about 80 frogfoots are. The Frogfoot-A still serves the Russian armed forces including in Syria. Not to mention other airforces around the world. [ame] [/ame]
  8. The Frogfoot-A is much faster and much more manoeuvrable though. It does not have a TV-display but retains precision munitions and accurate CCIP and CCRP calculations through the laser rangefinder/designator mounted in the nose. Since you'll have to manually steer the laser designator with the PGM's it becomes skillful and fun to get kills, especially on moving targets. The thing that the A really misses over the T are the fire and forget TV guided bombs and missiles (KAB-500KR and Kh-29T), Anti-radiation missiles for taking out SAM sites (Kh-58u and Kh25mpu) and large quantities of laser guided missiles ( Vikhr, of wich te Su-25T can carry 16..). On a sidenote the A also misses the R73 for self defense. It does carry an R60 for self defense.
  9. I voted for fighters, but it's honestly whatever piques my interest at any given time. Heli's, mud movers, fighters. I play them all :) Recently been stung by a MiG-21 bug sprinkled with some Huey flavor. But that could change at any time. According to the logbook I spend most of my time in the A-10C but the time I spend in the hog and the frogfoot-A cannot compete with time spent in the F-15, Mirage 2000, MiG-21 and F86. Helicopters take 3rd place but I do love my choppers, all three of them. I have two warbirds, the mustang and the kurfurst but it will take a bit more supplementive content (terrain, units) before I think I can really enjoy them. So I'd vote for a jack of all trades option if there was one.
  10. mudspike.com previewed the campaign. http://www.mudspike.com/preview-baltic-dragons-mirage-2000c-campaign-for-dcs-world/
  11. Happened here in the Netherlands as well about 3 years back
  12. Dubai will actually, together with the Iranian city of Bandar Abass, be the primary cities on the map that will feature high details and unique buildings. Comparable to what Las Vegas is to the NTTR.
  13. 2 screenshots of the SoZ editor with airfields. Both are from the UAE/Oman side of the map. this and more was seen in Bunyaps latest news update
  14. No such thing. Both methods work totally fine in the game. There's no advantage for either software mapping or directly binding keys. It's all about the user preference.
  15. hey Ineth, is the game correctly bound to your account? When you purchased the game, you should have received an e-mail with a serial key. you then need to go to this website: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/ and login on the top right. There you can bind the key to your account. Wait a minute after doing so and go in-game. Go to the top where it says Module Manager. If you are logged in with the same account you should be prompted to download and install the F-15. If not you should be manually able to install it.
  16. I'm not sure if that needs updating. It's been a long time since I set it up. Are you trying to look at distant objects or cockpit avionics or the HUD? Instead of using zoom I used to move the camera around through the 6dof cockpit by holding down the middle mouse button.

    DCS: F-5E!

Like your sources stated. An All-weather fighter is equiped with tools and weapons that allow for navigating, intercepting and fighting in adverse weather and low light level conditions. The german WW2 nightfighters where equiped with systems like the FUbL 1 and the FuG 125 for landing and navigating in adverse conditions. They where equiped with devices like the FuG101 radio altimeter to detect their height above terrain in adverse weather. They where also equiped with devices like the PeilG6, FuBL2, the FuG125 and FuG120(k) for radio navigation either towards targets or back to base. So how can anyone claim that a fighter that's 30 years newer than the WW2 nightfighters is an all-weather fighter when it misses some capabilities that the warbirds had? Not to mention that the AIM-9 is a poor choice for adverse weather when the radar guided AIM-7 existed for over 10 years when the F5 was introduced. Just because a fighter has the capability to acquire a target in other ways than visual does not mean it's an all weather fighter.
  18. Feel free to do as you see fit. I have a rhino myself and put as much as I can ingame, and only do features where the software provides an advantage for me through the HUD software. I know people who don't use the software at all.
  19. You can also navigate to the top of this forum. Click on "user CP", then navigate to "Edit Options" and then check the "Save a copy of sent messages in my Sent Items folder by default" box in order to always save sent messages.
  20. I had this happen to me once in the MiG-21 and what helped me then was deactivating and then reactivating. Without reinstalling the whole game or anything like that.
  21. Hey guys! With the Hawk EFM being released for DCS 2.0.2 the Hawk has lost the ability to steer the nosewheel. Pilots must now steer using differential brakes. Unfortunatly for now the brakes cannot be bound to joystick or throttle keys. I have made profiles that allow steering to be done with rotaries or the yaw axis of the X-55 Rhine HOTAS. Here's how my profiles work: - The middle 20% (10 to each side) contains a dead-zone. - The next 15% pulses the brake 250ms out of every second. - The next 15% pulses the brake 500ms out of every second. - The last 10% keeps the brake held down completely. The percentage being the range of motion in the direction you want to travel in. I have made three different profiles. Profile A uses the righternmost rotary on the throttleblock. Profile B uses the lower thumb rotary. Profile C uses the Yaw axis of the stick. So there's the possibility of taking something you are most comfortable with. The brakes only work in mode 1. So if you want to stop using differential brakes on the take-off roll, you can switch to mode 2 to stop using differential braking. I wasn't able to test this on the Hawk yet as I don't own the NTTR but I tested them on the A-10C and it works great there. I originally posted this here but I am afraid it will drown in other posts about the EFM. HawkProfA.rar HawkProfB.rar HawkProfC.rar
  22. http://en.wiki.eagle.ru/wiki/Snap_views You only need to edit a single LUA file (1 line from true to false). You can edit the default viewpoint (num5) with this. You can also set up a number of preconfigured viewpoints for the other numkeys. I personally use it to look at the CDU and radio's etc. You'd need to enter snapview mode for that. I rebinded that to the numpad decimal key.
  23. From my understanding negative G-forces are decently modelled in DCS. For the human body, the push-pull effect seems decently modelled resulting in easier A-LOC/G-LOC after pushing negative G's. Engines seem to be realisticly affected by negative G's. An example would be the A-10C who's feedtanks can sustain negative G's for about 10-20 seconds before the feeding fails. WW2 birds we have in DCS are also designed to sustain some negative G's. Fascist germany already had designs that could sustain some negative G's in 1937. I believe the allied fighters we have or will soon have are equiped with the Miss shilling's orifice or better equipment to battle negative G.
  24. Is it just me or are the persons in the commanders seat flying the thing wearing swimming trunks? With their arms haning out the window?
