  1. Thanks for this. No mention of Kish island though :P I'll have to admit it's a bit far west but I would be totally cool with it if all the mainland at this latitude would be low detail or procedurally generated if we'd still get this island base. I mapped the Iranian airforce facility assets that I know of in google maps to give people a picture of where the bases will be. My map is slightly larger than the currently known boundaries.
  2. You need to wait for allignment to complete ( it should say T = 4.0.0.8 on the CDU) before you press NAV. You then need to flick up the EAC switch below the throttle ( you can't do that if allignment didn't complete).
  3. No they don't. Having an altimeter that the guidance computer can interpret is going to add more weight and óne more thing that can go wrong on an already very expensive weapon to add a capability that may be useful in one out of a hundred to one out of a thousand shots in the real world. Being able to proficiently detect the contours of the earth would require a radar altimeter as well.
  4. I'd like it. Or a MiG-27. One of few planes equiped with GSh-6-30. Has some precision weapons capability but mostly guns, bombs and rockets. [ame] [/ame]

  6. The question was wich IRIAF bases would be represented, not IF any would be represented ;) I'm sure the Bandarr Abass airport will be in. It's right at the Iranian side of the straight. The Kish international airport would be to cool to pass up for the SoZ map. Slightly west of the actual strait, Kish is located on a small island. The Abu Musa airport is also located on an island in almost defying location. The placement of military jets here caused a lot of regional tension in 1996. Other military airfields I'd expect is the Bandarr E jask and Bandar Lengeh airforce bases. There are more airforce bases along the Gulf of Persia, Gulf of oman and dozens among the border with Iraq but I am not sure what the actual dimensions of the map are ( pretty sure not all the way to Iraq)
  7. Unless there are aircraft you would like to exclude from the rule and see them shot down at max range, you could simply use the COALITION INSIDE ZONE condition instead of creating conditions for every single aircraft. Don't forget the clone function is there as well to quickly create many triggers, conditions or actions with only minor differences.
  8. you can make triggerzones to precisely mark the territory at wich point the SAM will fire. Make it so the ROE for the SAM changes from weapons hold to weapons free the moment an opposing plane enters the triggerzone.
  9. From the F-15C manual: For a normal take-off, having reached a speed of 100 knots, pull the stick half-way back for over one second and hold pitch attitude at 10° after nose wheel lift-off. To minimize ground roll, set 12° pitch attitude after nose wheel lift-off. WARNING. EXCESSIVE AFT STICK (QUICK PULL OR MORE THAN ONE-HALF AFT) IS NOT RECOMMENDED AS IT CAN LEAD TO EXCESSIVE NOSE WHEEL LIFT-OFF SPEED AND HIGH PITCH RATE. Temperature: yes Wind: yes Humidity: From what I understand: sort of. It does not vary with e.g. flying through clouds.
  10. That's possible although individual modules are rarely more than a few hundred MB's save for the Nevada terrain module. If you'd allow a recomendation having DCS on an SSD is great. Really cuts into the loading times.
  11. They most probably will. Unless a 3rd party developer would oppose. No-one currently developing for ED is objecting steam sales, and every developer save for RAZBAM and Polychop have products for sale on steam. The mirage is still brand-new ofcourse, and still has issues with crashes particulary when the radar drops a track or faces a jammer. When things like that get ironed out I'm sure it will make it's way to steam. Polychop has yet to bring out a product although the Gazelle is looking close to release. Everything that we know is being developed right now from the Hornet to the strait of Hormuz to the Spitfire variants will make its way to Steam. I'm sure any dev who thinks about coding for ED is aware that they sell products on steam and that there is a market for their produce on steam as well should they manage to get a module ready. If at any point you cannot manage to hold the wait for any longer, you can port your steam keys over here and enjoy the standalone client with all the stuff you already own. EDIT: Snipe snipe snipe snipe sniped XD
  12. You could try starting here: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=120355 and here: http://wiki.hoggit.us/view/Scripting_Engine_Introduction
  13. yes and yes. You need to make combined arms ( game masters, commanders, JTACs) slots in the mission from the left hand menu
  14. IF you can write LUA that is. Besides, conditions and all that stuff still need to be set in the editor unless you want your code to get really cumbersome. You can pull of a lot of cool stuff with just the trigger/condition system and the flag system without even being able to print "hello world" in LUA. The flags being a poor man's way to remember Variables ( Meaning you can store TRUE, FALSE, or a number on a flag. You can have a lot of flags, more than you'd ever need). I would make it so that each time the anti-air is destroyed, the value of a certain flag is increased by one. That value is then the condition for another trigger that will spawn the AA, wich should auto-capture the base. If they get destroyed the flag value is increased once again wich will fire another trigger, spawning enemy AA's this time. It will be time-consuming to set this up to happen 20+ times or so for a fun MP mission but a nice side-effect you could make is have the AA appear in different positions every time. If you don't want to set this up but instead just want the unit to respawn you'll have to write a script for it or use something like MiST. have fun and good luck with making the mission!
  15. link to the footage [ame] [/ame]
  16. Thanks winchester! Maybe I get a chance to use it tonight during the www.mudspike.com multiplayer event. Hopefully I won't make a fool out of myself! :joystick:
  17. Yeah C2 agencies stand for Command and Control. It depends on how they are connected to the plane. Some monitor the radio communications, some don't communicate with the plane directly but by example observe radar. Some others can directly observe Satellite and datalink information. At the lower to moderate levels, each branche handles his own C2. An example for the Airforce would be the E-3 Sentry (technically a C3I. The third C standing for communications meaning it acts as a link between the tactical and strategic level, and the I standing for Intelligence, meaning the device is capable of gathering most of its own intelligence in the field). For the navy an example would be an aircraft carrier or one of the specialized Command ships ( USS Blue Ridge or USS Mount Whitney). The different branches don't merge untill fairly high up. At the regional or theater level by using something like DJC2. Or at the national or international level based in the continental United States (USJFCOM, although I heard it is now defunct but I don't know how they replaced it ) or Europe ( NATO Allied Joint Force Command. Several bases, I live fairly close to the one in Brunssum, Netherlands wich we still know by its cold war era name AFCENT :) ) In short, these lines are way to long for directing artillery strikes. I can imagine the airforce using their Lockheed U-2, RQ4 or formerly their SR-71 to gather intelligence wich makes it's way to other branches for them to use cruise weapons, but even that would presumably take hours to reach from one end to the other. I believe aircraft used for artillery spotting are called AOP's. They belong to the Army Aviation. This means they are all helicopters. I know the OH58 Kiowa carried out this role since atleast the vietnam era. A few where lost performing exactly that role. The Kiowa was supposed to be replaced by the commance or the Bell ARH-70 but with both helicopters canceled the Kiowa is still doing the job today. Hope it was helpful or informative :)
  18. Thanks for the kind words and good luck Akki! Su-33 is fun to refuel as well as soon as you get the trim under control.
  19. [ame] [/ame] managed to stay on till I was full for the first time although I got close to losing it or entering a PIO state a few times. Especially in the front-aft axis. Still things to learn in this sim after many years :smartass:
  20. would you consider publishing the Tu-22m mod? I'd be happy to fly her around even with a frogfoot pit. I hope someday we have the Tu-22m3 and her rival the B1-B in DCS.
  21. Carrier landings are already possible with the Su-33. The Harrier is in the works. Things like the B-2 and F-117 are unlikely as it is nearly impossible to get data on.
  22. did you hit the collective brake when you where at 50 meters radar altitude? Lastly is the autopilot altitude mode set to radar and not barometric?
  23. Rather than going for commercial avation and having to compete with a bunch of civil sims, including a very new one coming up soon, I'd rather see ED consolidate their pole position in the combat flight sim market. Instead of switching over to steering 747's over the map, why not appeal to the big bird market by having flyable craft added to the roster amongst the likes of a C-17, C-130, B-52, B1-B, Tu-22M, Tu-95, IL-76? The maps we have now do not réally accomodate these types of planes. But I think by adding airports in Turkey, Ukraine, Romania and Bulgaria we could have ranges appreciated by these type of aircraft.
  24. There's usually a 10-20% discount for pre-orders
