  1. I haven’t read that so I don’t know what it says, I was just relaying the info I learn from a book about DS/DS. The pilots were recalling the info. I’m sure what you are spot on with what the TAC-050 says.
  2. So I just got done reading about the Harriers in Desert Shield/Stom. The Mk 20 was a standard load out and was very deadly. It was the choice load out that most pilots wanted. They did have a dud rate of about 10-15% due to the sand being too soft for the bomblets to go off. And they were using them on artilery, APC’s, and tanks. So it’s an ED side of the house problem not the Mk 20 side.
  3. This in so many ways
  4. Nice books, I just download the A-10 one!
  5. https://fightersweep.com/1904/hornet-vs-viper-part-three/ This pilot explains that US Navy hornet pilots cannot do any precision approaches on land what so ever. The best they can do is TACAN approaches. I’ve known this for over a decade as I worked on the legacy hornets for 7 years when I was active and now work on 35’s. So I know the difference. And how lazy can a pilot be that moving their head, even in a sim, is seen as inconvenient? As to the not looking out of the cockpit, I’ve been told by colleagues who have the instrument rating, that when they train for it they have blinders on so they only can look at their instruments. Your eyes can lie but your instruments don’t. It’s probably not as of big deal in a sim as I can feel anything. But I can tell you, in VR, you can get some vertigo. In really bad weather sometime it “feels” like I’m in a bank when really I’m straight and level. I can’t look at the HUD as it only makes the feeling worse. So looking at the instruments is very important. I never doubted your ability, OP, to fly with just your instruments. I just have no clue as to why you would make a rediculous and erroneous claim about the A-10 based on just the lack of an instrument rated HUD and lack of A2G radar. Seems silly and sounds like you lack piloting skills. Maybe you should consider going back to basics and brushing off those skills that seemed, in my opinion, to be rusty instead of blaming the airframe, the engineers, or complaining about what an airframe lacks.
  6. I agree about getting the DLC campaigns as they are well worth the money. Enemy Within and OPF are hands down two of the best ones. The maple flag missions are great if you want to experience a close as we can get to training the real way in SP. Stone Shield is the last of the group, however it is still pretty good. The Red Flag campaign is awesome in 2.1 and I highly recommend that. As for MP, join a squadron if you can. There a few that fly constantly and have a ton of different mission set ups. I’m in one and it has been awesome! They’ve taken my flying to the next level. So there are things you can do to freshen the old girl up. And if none of those things work out for you, try a different platform. The M2K is outstanding, as is the F-5E. The latter is very overwhelming if you’re not used to flying older Jets. I got task saturated really fast in that jet for the longest time, but it made my flying skill a ton better. The Harriers about to be out and of course the Hornet will be out at some point in the future. So it’s really up to you.
  7. I have flown sims like that, specifically the F-16, so I guess we can keep talking. So airplanes don’t really care about convenience. Not to mention if your HUD goes out you’ll be lost. Hence why pilots train the way they do. And if you want ILS info in your HUD, you better not buy the Hornet. It doesn’t even have ILS. Although it’s HUD is instrument rated. As for finding targets, the A-10 has a TGP that works really well. And if you think Radar is going to be an answer you will be fairly disappointed. Most pilots used the radar just to get in the ballpark and then use the TGP to get more accurate coordinates. And don’t take my work for it, read Hornets Over Kuwait. The author discribes that very thing. So even those jets with A2G radar will have there own limitations. The A-10C is an excellent airframe in all weather conditions. Does it have limitations. Of course it does, no jet is perfect. But saying this plane is worthless in bad weather speaks to the skill of the pilot, not the airframe.
  8. I’m not sure what plane you’re flying but the A-10C is very good in all weather conditions. With JTAC or a FAC(A) giving you coordinates, JDAM drops are very simple. And IFR is meant to be heads down. Eyes can be deceiving. If you’re flying the plane correctly you don’t need your eyes until about 100 feet of the ground on landing. If you can’t do an ILS Lansing without the HUD you shouldn’t be doing ILS landings at all.
  9. Very nice and a day one for me!
  10. I tried that and it didn’t work. I thought it was weird. Probably on my end though.
  11. Yeah it works great during th day, night still has some issues. I definitely cannot use the black cockpit mod nor the petro’s Lights and mirror mod though. No biggie there.
  12. Tested the new canopy and it is fabulous! Thank you so much its much better. Night still has some issues with the light and reflection but nothing like before.
  13. Thanks! I’ll let you know if it works.
  14. I’ll give it a try. But it’s good to know you’re experiencing similar problems too Baltic
  15. I’ve asked a couple times and haven’t seen a response so I figure I’d make a new thread. Is anyone looking into the Canopy Relection issue with deferred shading on. The reflection is so bad in the day time that it is almost opaque. Very difficult to fly with during the day and annoying at night. Taking pictures is pretty useless as the image doesn’t translate from what I’m seeing in head set. Could this be an issue with the black cockpit mod?
  16. That I think would be a mistake. Do the merge when the map is release. Whether it’s in an alpha or beta stage. Having two of the same maps on different versions wouldn’t make sense. And make people mad all at the same time. And then release the SoH map after the merge.
  17. Yeah the canopy is really bad. I’ve asked if this will be addressed but I have gotten no response about it.
  18. I’m pretty sure MapleFlag is working on the training campaign for he 18. If ED was smart they would bundle the training as a campaign ala Mirage style. Baltic did a great job on the training missions and on the free campaign.
  19. They need to fix this as this is an issue of playability. It doesn’t have to be perfect but I should be able to make out a truck’s heat signature out of a cold field, just saying.
  20. No worries. That's what I ended up doing was just flying a circling pattern around him. I'm not a fan of the F-15 but your campaigns are awesome so I thought I'd give it a go. I'm sure I'll enjoy.
  21. In route. I pushed him before I got into formation. But he was going so slow the whole time. It happened during one of the missions during the Mirage campaign too.
  22. So in the first mission, the AWACS seems to be very slow. Too slow to realistically fly formation. I was around 150 IAS. Not sure if he's suppose to be that slow or not.
  23. I got this campaign just to support you and your future DLC's. I might fly it, but most likely not lol. Keep up the good work my friend. Looking forward to the Mirage Red Flag, and A-10C DLC's
  24. Does anyone have any clue as to when the canopy reflection will be fixed? It's not functional to fly during the day time, and it works only so well at night in VR. Is this reflection issue a texture issue with the PBR?. Out side of that the new improvements are amazing.
  25. The new model looks good, but we still have way too much reflection on the canopy with VR. Any update on to when this might be fixed?
