Drones are here, already (yes I read the rest of the conversation), and with the F35 still not in operational service with the Navy (or widespread service in any military yet) I would be willing to bet you will be very wrong! US procurement of the F35 alone will be for atleast the next 35 years! A few hundred F16's alone will be flying past your 15 year MAXIMUM mark! Some of the Mudhen fleet(which mostly is newer than the Viper fleet) will probably be flying into the mid 2040s! Same possibly for the Eagle! The A-10 might even make it throughout your 15 years until there will be need for no pilots! What about our bomber fleet? With the B52s and B1 flying into the 2040s until replaced by the B21! What about the B2, 2050 atleast? And how about our Raptors and F35s? The F35s produced today will see service still 30 years from now, nevermind the later production. This is a plane made to be upgraded theoughout the decades technologicaly so its safe to assume 2070 for some of the airframes. 2070!!!! What about all the new cargo and gunship/AFSOC platform? What about the current OA-X program going on as we speek for an off the shelt manned light attack/ISR platform? Operating somewhat in roles similar the Predators and Reapers today! So 15 years and pilots will be reserved to spec op type of deals, come on!!! Prove me wrong, do it!!! -
It has a pair .50 cal MG's in it, though I know we are talking hypothetically so why not just bring some heat seakers along with you anyway? I'm curious just to see how this plane will survive in a modern simulation environment. I can defintely see people doing crazy low attacks with this aircraft in MP

Well everybody has an opinion...I personally think some User skins are fantastic. If you want to get em you can have em, if you dont like it then dont get it. Anyway those are cool pics of the NASA jets

Go for it! I made a tanker drag mission with the tankers and it was great pratice, 3 1/2 hour mission though, but great pratice and very satisfying! Much easier than in the A-10!

Crashes in 2.1 on NTTR & Normandy after update
frixon28 replied to upupandaway's topic in Bugs and Problems
Yah I am having frequent crashes all the time, got NTTR this weekend and I have to say its very disappointing that every time I load an instant action or any mission the game just crashes! Attached below are the instant action mission that crashes right away and the longest I got without crashing (2 hours flying circles to all the airports) I tried uploading but it did not work....says its invalid -
Is there a mod to turn Nevada into Syria?
frixon28 replied to The_Pharoah's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
As stupid as it sounds you just got to pretend and ignore the Las Vegas Area. I recommend to just stick to the desert and some of the smaller towns, stay away from the strip -
I play almost exclusively single player on my old, outdated, computer using the F5. I know its lame that it does not come with a campaign and I really wish BST would fix it, but the aircraft itself is very good. Learn to use the Mission Editor if you dont already and youll be okay. You can get the NTTR for like 25 USD at the time, so you can get both a really good map and module for under 60 dollars. I recommend you get the F5, now is the time. But to each their own I guess...

For those who don't know the OA-X concept is a Light Attack Aircraft for the USAF. It is desired due to the high cost of operating 4th & 5th generation aircraft designed for high threat environments, in low-medium threat area's where the US & allies have been operation for over a decade now. The US wants an aircraft with low operating cost and can be "bought off the shelf", meaning no real development needed. The aircraft competing are not designed to replace the A-10. The aircraft competing are the Textron Scorpion Jet, Textron AT-6 Wolverine Turboprop on one side. The USAF uses the T-6 Texan II, as their primary trainer, which is where the AT-6 is developed off from. The A-29 Super Tucano is used by the USAF temporarily as they train Afghan pilots on the aircraft (all of which were bought for use by Afghan AF). Sierra Nevada Corporation & Embraer are teaming up to show off their popular A-29 Super Tucano (which will all be made in the US if A-29 wins, also is under development by RAZBAM). Just thought it was time to make a thread for something so interesting. No matter what happens, models of one these aircraft will be sitting on the shelves of bedrooms for years to come! AT-6 Wolverine Scorpion Jet A-29 Super Tucano

Something cool I just noticed, the Super Tucano has a very real possibility of becoming part of the USAF! This would certainly introduce the Super Tucano to millions of new people, cool!

Hey and welcome to DCS :) I recommend learning the SU-25T (which Is the most complex of the FC3 type aircraft IMO) and buy a module like the Mirage 2000. The M2K was my first full fidelity jet module, and it taught me a lot and got me used to the high fidelity module. It is a great module that will give you something not to hard to learn on, but prepare you for the constant learning that goes on when you get the A-10C and KA-50 modules. It will also give you a competitive fighter on the majority of multiplayer servers. The M2K would be great for a beginner/intermediate because it can teach you about modern systems (such as radar, INS, ECM & a HUD), but not to the point where if you don't know everything about the specific system you are ineffective or cant use the module to its full potential. It also allows you to learn Air to Air & Air to Ground combat. Definitely buy it once you learn the SU-25T! Hope this helps

I got to ask why was this done? Why the promotion of the Harrier, (Or any military jet, or heck any airplane even) in a Pepsi commercial? Or is this one of those the 70's/80's were a strange time... I'm still so happy to have such a unique aircraft coming to DCS
-
Keep in mind that the Mk108 effective range is pretty poor compared to say 151, and you dont have much ammo
-
The Su-27SM is not happening because of Russian laws!!! Nothing against you but geesh everyone wants to beat this dead horse! Not trying to be feisty sorry

Is there any possibility of us getting the F14D-Super Tomcat?
frixon28 replied to Jogui3000's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
Well of course it would be completey different module taking a considerable amount of development time -
Is there any possibility of us getting the F14D-Super Tomcat?
frixon28 replied to Jogui3000's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
I did some searching but could not find anything... Im assuming they chose to plan the B over the D (and of course the A) because of data availability about the systems? Sorry if this was already answered but I could not find anything -
The F-14D Super Tomcat is drastically different from the F-14B Tomcat in its capabilities. It is very much a multirole, true strike aircraft from its get go. I believe the B model was produced from 88-90 with the D model produced from 90-92. This is all out of the factory, and I believe by the late 90s their capabilities was near identical after upgrades. Though the Super Tomcat is not being developed at all because, only a couple dozen of the hundreds of F-14s produced were D models, and classified date I think (???). Important to remember the D was very much a long range strike fighter rather than the pure interceptor of early F14a

This message needs to be spread throughout the forms, for all the talks about realism people sure do whine about the AMRAAM being unfair...

Hello all, I was wondering what your guys thoughts would be on adding more historical missles to the Eagle. This would include the AIM-7F, AIM-9L, Python 2 and 3 missle series. I am assuminng the AIM-7P that entered service in 1987 (last main production series of the Sparrow) saw service on the USAF top fighter before the introduction of the AIM-120, so if possible I request that would be added in too if accurate. Maybe I am one of the limited few but I enjoy playing the Eagle in Cold War scenarios, and yes while we can do 1982+ scenarios, I would enjoy using the F15C with the missles it was introduced with. Its important to remember that even if a missle was introuduced or entered production in a certain year, does not mean the older types of missles were just thrown away and never saw service. For instance our earliest AMRAAM in game did not enter service until 1994, meaning that if we had the P model (if it saw service on Eagles) its improvement would be much enjoyed over Mike models. I think the key question is whether or not the developers will think it worth spending time and money making these new missles. Some players would think these new missles will greatly increase realism in certain scenarios and there use in the Mission Editor, however I think those players (including myself) are in the minorty. While others (I believe the majoirty) just see these missles as simply inferior to the current AIM-9M + AIM-120C loadout. What are your guys thoughts on this subject?
-
Will we be getting the AIM-7P??? It was the last large scale production version designed to replace the Mike model. From f16.net "Entered production in 1987, the AIM-7P is an improved AIM-7M. It features improved guidance electronics and on-board computer and has an uplink to the autopilot for mid-course guidance updates. There are two subvariants of the AIM-7P, known as Block I and Block II. The AIM-7P Block I has a WGU-6D/B guidance section, and the Block II uses a WGU-23D/B guidance section." I really find it disappointing that we only have the Mike model for player use in the game, and it would make since to have the P model introduced with the Hornet because the Navy would still have it in loadouts during the time period of our Hornet

Does he have a name?

I swore I read an article on F15D and F16D testing lasers, but admitly I cannot find the article meaning we I have no source now.:helpsmilie:.,

Wait Wait what is this? When did this ever happened? An F16 shot at an airliner and a Su-27 shot at the F16???? When was this?
-
Control F is a thing I swear, and the search function. In case your wondering I work full time so yah... Though that thread idea of yours is a good idea, especially for the biggest module since the A-10C
