The most recent batch of F-35A's were bought for 94 million USD a piece . Considering that the F-35A is by far the most dominant model being produced, I have to say its nearly 1/4 the cost of what you listed. Source - https://www.cnbc.com/2017/10/09/f35-cost-pentagon-to-take-control-of-huge-jet-bill.html It would be nice to discuss the SU-57/Pak Fa or any other fighter or country, but lets please do it in it's correct thread. This is the F-35 thread, not a comparison thread (this is not aimed at anyone in particular) Back to topic of "The F-35 Thread", Lockheed Martin itself is aiming to lower the cost of the F-35A to $80 Million USD per piece by 2020, and the government wants it even cheaper. Those would be extremely low end MiG-29K's and Su-35's if your numbers are actually equal to the F-35A's cost, though I digress. It is something to consider for those lower end country's, or country's who cannot support/not allowed 5th generation aircraft yet. Keep in mind the more aircraft you have, the more your logistics keep on piling onto you... Once again like always, this turns into Quality vs Quantity.

We only have one UH aircraft (which has nothing to do with any Hawk Series Helicopters). UH is just a US general designation, nothing to do with aircraft being similar. The biggest problem is just getting enough info on any of these highly complicated aircraft

The SU-30 FAMILY PROJECT is Back
frixon28 replied to Gizmondo's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
As a total noob on this topic, may I ask why? -
Does anyone else feel like their is a lack of news in the recent letters?

You like it Skate???? Would have been an awesome choice, great capability's for its low-low operating costs. Though not nearly as low as the turbo props...

Scorpion is a newer generation of the Ares in some ways. More fitting to current USAF requirements at least.

It can do the same duration of missions of A-10C...just got to hit the tanker even maybe once. Fortunately combat ops are very short in this simulation compared to real life, that why I always try to make the the target on the other side of the map if possible, so I can have air to air refueling. In terms of tactics read up about strike fighters, for CAS in a dangerous environment its almost a necessity to use JTAC's

Thread Bump USAF is sending the Textron AT-6 Wolverine & The Embraer/Sierra Neveda A-29 Super Tucano to a yet to be determined combat zone, most likely to be involved with OIR, for combat testing. 2 aircraft of each type will be deployed. I guess the Scorpion didn't make the cut for the OA-X. Up to 300 aircraft of each type would/could be purchased by the USAF. http://www.popularmechanics.com/military/aviation/a28413/the-air-force-is-sending-its-mini-attack-plane-competition-to-war/ A-29 Super Tucano AT-6 Wolverine Be interesting to see what happens, especially since the A-29 Super Tucano is in combat right now by the Afghan AF, and was selected over the AT-6 last time a similar competition like this was done a few years ago.

Very small stuff like this really drives up the immersion factor in my opinion. Stuff like this makes me enjoy the game much more than I normally would

DCS: Me 262 Discussion (Development on hold currently)
frixon28 replied to NineLine's topic in Western Europe 1944-1945
Any interest really in the Me-262 A-2a?? -
Google is your best friend...but yes as others have mentioned it is in service still
-
I assume adding the A means at full price? I am also assumingly sadly that you mean the A+?
-
I know its very exciting! Yes only the Rhino can do A-A refueling. I think the next big thing to make DCS more immersive is the flight & military environment itself. Stuff like this greatly benefits the immersion aspect in my opinion!

What US Hornets don't have JHCMS now? Why is it not used for cruising around, I'm looking for honest answers on this matter.
-
I feel like its nastier in the recent patches and has caused me to restart 2 hour missions more than a few times, however at least it has a MWS. Last couple months have me flying at over 10k feet more often that's for sure

Helmet Mounted Displays are a reality on the A-10C
frixon28 replied to BlueAngel's topic in DCS Core Wish List
They have been a reality on the A-10C for years, but that doesn't mean its going to happen. Honestly we should just be happy that we have something as modern as an A-10C in this game! If you think about it we are quite fortunate we got such a modern technological suite. Of course I want it, but I'm sorry I don't think it will ever happen in the next decade or so. Suite 7 is quite new for a module of DCS standards. -

DCS: F-14A/A+/B by Heatblur Simulations coming to DCS World!
frixon28 replied to Cobra847's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
So how about that DCS: F-14A/A+/B by Heatblur Simulations coming to DCS World... You know it seems pretty cool and all. You know the DCS: F-14A/A+/B by Heatblur Simulations is pretty rad. We need to bring a younger audience into these sims. The DCS: F-14A/A+/B by Heatblur Simulations coming to DCS World will probably do that... I have no idea where Im going with this -
Thread bump. You would want PW engines over GE??? I cant even talk look at you now :D I believe that ED chose the Hornet over the Viper for the sole reason you can do more with it than an F16 module. As much as I want an F16 module, the Hornet can do everything the Viper can do in terms of weapons but brings in a whole bunch of fans wanting carrier operations. While the Viper might sell more for us who are in countries that operate them, the Hornet from a gameplay poimt of view for marketing will attract more people IMO

Pierre Sprey & Lt. Col David Berke debate
frixon28 replied to Hummingbird's topic in Military and Aviation
The F15 reference was a reference to the article you sent me about how todays raptor technology will be outdated 30 years from now, well of course it well. Technology across every platform gets upgraded. I was not doubting the service life on those aircraft. I am aware of the role that AI has is increasing, and no doubt it amd drones will be important. But when you said 15 years maximum you were pretty confident. Though yes over the decades I see more and more drones coming in, but we still got some more time. You refer to a small cadre, but what is small? The Fighter Community is a drop in a lake compared to the military. We disagree and we probably will always disagree, when I see this happen I will believe it.
