  1. this is something that depends on practice and experience. you need to "stay ahead of the airplane" and what that means is you need to have a good idea of how and when your airplane will respond to your input ahead of time. ex., if you want to push forward, you blip the throttle ahead, and then immediately pull back --don't wait to see how much you accelerate, because by the time you see the acceleration kick in, your reactionary input will be far too late. you need to think of entire sets of "input sequences" and not simply single inputs. as for countering pio after it has developed: the simple way is to just let go. after you start the pio chances are you're going continue to keep making the same timing mistakes that initiated the pio, so all you will do is amplify the oscillation even more. letting go at least prevents further compounding of the pio, and the oscillation will eventually lose energy. active pio cancellation is simply an extension of staying ahead of the aircraft. when you understand the aircraft's response characteristics, you can appropriately time the correct countering commands to disrupt and damp out the oscillation. watching your clip, i think you're definitely coming in too high. the wake is not helping you settle your aircraft in a steady state in preparation for contact. part of the problem it looks like is your head position; since you're not using trackir you can't easily look upwards so you are settling for a straight in sort of approach to keep sight of the tanker. maybe try making a snapview that has your head position moved forward a few inches so you can get a better vertical field of view out of the windscreen so you can come in at the tanker from a lower altitude. you should be lower than the basket when you come in, because throttling up will naturally cause you to balloon upwards, allowing you to float right into the basket. lastly, you're not actually setting the wings in bomb mode. the aircraft's center of lift changes as the wings swing and that definitely does not help you.
  2. agreed with everything deano said recording footage would actually help diagnosis way more than you trying to describe it by text also i dont advise you practice too hard, trying to pack too much into one session only leads to fatigue and frustration. your body needs time to process and internalize, so just put it aside and come back tomorrow.
  3. what is real is "lazy lefthand syndrome" even if you move your throttle only half a millimeter, if you just leave it there, you're going to keep accelerating you can hold formation regardless if you move your throttle 1 millimeter or 40 millimeters, what matters is that you're applying the correct amount of counterinputs to equalize, which means you better keep that left hand awake and sharp. id go as far to say that the vast majority of formation holding issues is rooted in a sleepy left hand rather than any controlstick hooplah now what we really need is the iron maiden you wanna talk about short hoses
  4. well the s-3 carries like 17000lbs of gas, you're literally sucking it dry in fact you can kill ai s-3 tankers by reconnecting with them while they're on their descent and sucking all their remaining fuel out of them edit: just read over the thread again dear op why in the blazes is your tanker set at 260kt groundspeed this is a strange phenomenon i see around, you people seem to think slower is going to make things easier???
  5. i dont think i really move the throttle much more than a millimeter back and forth tomcat is a rock steady flyer though once you get it trimmed alright you can take your hand off the stick for the most part other notes -you shouldnt be in his jetwash at all, if you are in the wing vortices you're way too high -kick the hud addiction, the best speed gauge is right there in your windscreen already. tanker getting bigger = too fast, tanker getting smaller = too slow. it's way more accurate and responsive than any hud output. if you don't know how to counter pio then it just means you still don't know how to control the airplane and you're not gonna get better if you already think you're the best in other words stop blaming the airplane
  6. i agree, get his eyes out of the cockpit
  7. theres a lot of bullets, its like chaff
  8. no for all 'normal flight' you do not need rudder inputs the only time you lose roll authority from the stick is in high aoa regime. you will not encounter high aoa at high speed (if you do you will have bigger problems than roll authority) all modern fighters including the f-14 will automatically do coordinated turn, there is no need to input rudder into normal turns like you need to with older, simpler aircraft just simply do not touch rudder until your plane does not obey stick commanded roll maybe this will help you think about it correctly: this is highly exaggerated but when your alpha increases your roll axis no longer rolls relative to your path of travel instead, your aircraft's yaw axis comes closer to your path's roll axis
  9. ok heres how it works => does roll input roll the airplane? =====>yes ===========> do not use rudder =====>no ===========> add rudder you only need as much rudder as it takes to roll you in the direction you want to roll
  10. the aircraft should also still have luneburg lens bolted on, so the notion that it stealthed away seems dubious
  11. really sounds like you didnt switch prop pitch governor to automatic, every server ive been in will start with it off keybind you're looking for is called 'governor automation', the switch is a little black toggle at the base of the throttle just inboard of the radiator cutoff handle 'kuhler-abschaltung'
  12. 10 bucks its ltws and you're dropping tracks
  13. some hints in here
  14. i think you're right, the hole looks like a round punched out of the skin from within
  15. i think you'll need to wait for the data cartridge in the meantime it doesnt take much to learn to doubleclick the target into stt
  16. https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/europe/fighter-jet-canon-fire-f16-dutch-a8859731.html?amp gosh just how violently do you have to hoik the stick to jink into your own gunshot
  17. his issue was with the f-14
  18. look at the speed all you want but if you dont have the feel then youll always be at a disadvantage thats all i can say
  19. biggest problem i see exists between the stick and seat
  20. 9 times out of 10 they don't have wcs flipped forward from standby online at least
  21. sounds a bit like you didnt switch to and deconflict the axis bindings, which are separate from 'all' also make sure you're editing 'a-10 real' controls and not 'a-10 game' i own ch fighterstick and throttle as well, i can assure you its not the hardware
  22. why are you in range of stingers??? everything points to you doing it all wrong
  23. multiplayer is its own microcosm. if you want to ever fly against people, then the sooner you start the sooner you start gaining experience with what works and what doesnt. and no there is no matchmaking beyond your wits. as for flying clickable, you will want to map all critical functions to physical switches, whether its hotas, a switchbox, or your keyboard. 'clickable' cockpits are more valued for their depth of simulation than the notion of clicking the screen while in a fight, but they are nevertheless nice in the way that if you know how to operate the aircraft, you can operate systems even if you are missing keybinds.
  24. you know, misreading what a guy wrote because you're too eager to look smart only makes you look even more stupid
