Yeah. You shouldn't "turn off" the AP. I'm not even sure you can. If you turn off all the AP channels, is it the same as just hitting FD? Just hit FD when you don't want to fight the AP. As Chris says, then you still get some damping which fights the odd vibration and oscillation. Plus, the AP only has 20% control of the stick. Though, I have noticed in fast maneuvers with turning and yawing, with AP channels lit up, and FD off, I seem to get some binding, like the AP is fighting me more than 20%.

Well, I agree with Fri13, as it seems to me it is an emergency, fast mode to get to the Igla's and FIRE.

Well, as far as I'm concerned, they kept experimenting until the whole thing turned into the Ka-52. So, if it's on the Ka-52... You can see the same type glass cockpit on the Ka-52, on the Ka-50 in the pic Fri13 posted. It looks like it's pretty much a single seat Ka-52, probably minus radar. And the Ka-52 sports a third pylon, so I'm sure the modern Ka-50 would as well.

That would be nice, and the Russians have actually built a realistic simulator for it already. I think the problem is, exactly how much information Kamov is willing to give out on it. Though it seems to me, there are no real secrets there. Looks like standard 1990's tech.

I'm betting with their new online system, it probably will.

VR is VERY interesting, but it's still in it's infancy. Unfortunately, currently it's flying without being able to see your joystick or hands. Also, from what I hear, most cockpit readouts are somewhat unreadable. Personally, I'm waiting for the version where you stick a data jack into your head. Well, I'll tell you. If you REALLY want to talk to a Producer like Chizh, they mostly hang out on the Russian forums. Use a translator like Yandex Translate or Google Translate to write your post in both English and Russian, so everyone can understand what your saying. My experience is the Russian translation doesn't always come out right the first time. So, after you get the translation, erase the English you just wrote, flip it to Russian to English, and stick the Russian translation you got into the box. Now see if the Russian translation makes sense in English. Usually a few words might be off, so get translation of the words you want, and cut and paste into the Russian, until it translates to English correctly. Now, go into the Russian forum, and post your original English question and the correctly translated Russian below it. They're pretty good guys. I've found I get a lot more information and feedback in the Russian forums, especially on Russian planes like the Black Shark. Also, a lot faster replies. I just use site translation on Yandex Translate to read the whole Russian web page translated to English. Just stick the http address into the site box to translate.

I don't have any WW2 planes, but can't you just click Create Fast Mission? That's what I do. Instant mission with pretty much everything thrown in.

Fly the Shark, start up a fast mission, and set it to Medium. You won't be bored. :smilewink:

I thought it used to too. But now it does it in manual sight mode only if you have the shkval on. I swear it used to do it with the shkval off, but it didn't when I experimented with it. I made sure the laser was on, but with shkval off, the sight did not adjust when I lased. EDIT: Ahh, I only tried with rockets. Maybe gun can range when in fixed mode with shkval off. When I'm Danger Close, I prefer rockets! Might as well, only thing they're really good for.

Yeah, that's the issue I had. I remember I read a bunch of posts on here, and eventually figured it out. I remember you had to change some of the default values in the LUA files.

:lol: Lol, I once had an old, extra monitor I wanted to use, years ago, and I remember messing with this. I remember it was more than just checking off boxes in setup. If I remember right, I think you have to go into the LUA files to set it all up. Sorry, I can't remember which ones. I think one was called monitor.lua, or something like that. If you search the forums, there should be some monitor setup information somewhere.

Ah, ok. So that's what the 2 disks do. I kept seeing them talk about the disks on the Russian sites, but I couldn't quite make out what they were saying. Makes sense now. So, the cone is just the shape one laser is making as it forms the 6 meter grid? As you say, up and down scan, like on a CRT. When the missile is launched, it just looks behind it for the grid forming laser as it spins? This is what captures it? Also, how far out does the 6 meter grid start drawing when it first looks to capture the missile? I'm trying to understand how wide the "cone" would be at the start of the missile capture. Thanks! Так, конус как раз форма один лазер делает по мере того как он формирует решетку в 6 метров? Как вы говорите, вверх и вниз сканирование, как на ЭЛТ. Когда ракета запускается, она просто смотрит за ней на лазер, образующую сетка, когда она вращается? Это то, что захватывает его? Кроме того, как далеко 6-метровая сетка начинает рисовать, когда она впервые пытается захватить ракету? Я пытаюсь понять, насколько широким будет "конус" в начале захвата ракеты. Спасибо!

EDIT: Problem with not using the shkval while in manual gunsight mode, is that you can't range with the laser. So, it's basically just an iron sight then. x
