I am just hoping ED doesn't get pressured to release the SuperCarrier Module before it's usable...the F-16C Roll out was jumped in my humble opinion!

Recommend you watch all the F/A-18C Tutorials you can from reputable presenters...the Hornet is a gem to fly! On Field Landing, Full Aft Stick under 100 KIAS...speed break and make sure you have Anti-Skid on and Hook By-pass to Field...enjoy! As the others say, on Carrier Landing, Hook By-Pass to CARRIER and ANTISKID off.

Problem Solved, Recommend we close this Thread!

FA-18C Aggressors BFM Campaign
JUICE-AWG replied to Sabre-TLA's topic in F/A-18C Aggressors BFM Campaign
Anyone able to give me an opinion on this Campaign in 2.5.6 and is it laggy still? -
Ah, thanks Yorgon...I copied those links from the comments in one of my recent videos on CAS and it grabbed the YouTube link...let me fix that...and all of the links are opensource, searchable on the web and findable without my help...so I'm sure they are not classfied. Fixing now Cheers!

Sorry about that, Let me rephrase my statement...I mispoke for sure...I should have said that differently. Thanks for pointing this out RaTzo. People are just complaining when something is broken when they chose to use OpenBeta. https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=4222842&postcount=8 https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=4222842

I think we're all expecting our bug reports to be received and corrected by the next update, and that would be nice if we could get there...but not possible at this time. If I were recommending process improvement to ED, I'd list things like this: - Assign a Project Manager to coordinate and guide the teams on efforts and timelines - Streamline the teams with a representative within each group to collect and manage inputs from the bug reports and coordinate status updates with the Project Manager - Develop a feedback status page showing the current bugs received and corrected every few days if not daily to reduce duplicate reporting of the same bugs after they are received. Customers have a hard enough time reading every thread on bug reports - For Customers, please avoid extraneous inputs on threads with bugs that are already clarified and received...just cuts down on the amount of traffic the teams have to read and act upon - Weekly, the newsletter could have a generalized report or overview of the week's progress and common bug fixes. This would save community managers time answering multiple inputs about the same bug As a customer, I am guilty of most of these in the past, but we should all try to help ED make progress and be patient with OpenBeta woes...cheers!

Fang are you using Stable or Beta? I support ED's posture on people thinking that OpenBeta is supposed to be error free when in reality, it's available to test for bugs and errors. I'm an OpenBeta Standalone user (my only install) and I can see a change from the normal weekly updates that sometimes required a small hot-fix, but in light of the Super-Carrier Module coming soon, the Mariana's Island Map in the near, near future, and the other modules coming out (not to mention all the WIP Early Release Modules being updated), I can safely say that the ED Team has a lot on their plates. We all signed up for this by purchasing early access modules and pre-buying new tech to get a good deal, and part of the process is the wait and understanding when things don't go perfect. All we can do is keep an eye on the weekly news, touch base on the ED/Wags update videos, and review the changelogs when an update does occur. The only other option to be safe with your install is to go Stable and work with what we have.

Just wanted to start a repository for information on Keyhole CAS and interrelated support. These are all available with a simple web search so here's the links. https://fas.org/irp/doddir/dod/jp3_09_3.pdf https://www.jcs.mil/Portals/36/Documents/Doctrine/pubs/jp3_09.pdf https://www.public.navy.mil/fltfor/ewtglant/Documents/Courses/cin/TACP%20Docs%20K-2G-3615/TACP%20TACSOP%20(27%20Feb%2013).pdf https://sldinfo.com/2010/01/lessons-learned-corner-the-usmc-approach-to-close-air-support-in-fallujah-part-one/

Hey Blackey, I didn't know the F-15C had drop tanks. I always thought they had external auxiliary fuel tanks instead. I know that a few of the WWII fighters had "drop" tanks. In aviation, a drop tank (external tank, wing tank, or belly tank) is used to describe auxiliary fuel tanks externally carried by aircraft. A drop tank is expendable and often jettisonable. External tanks are commonplace on modern military aircraft and occasionally found in civilian ones, although the latter are less likely to be discarded except in the event of emergency.

Yes, they were only considered for intercept aircraft in a remote region with few alternate landing fields...and they enabled Air Defense Command Fighter Interceptor Squadron (FIS) Jets to burner out to ID the bad dudes without running out of fuel so fast. And they were adapted and designed into the Strike Eagle airframe, but the A/B/C/D Model Eagle Maintainers had a difficult time accessing parts of the airplane with the conformal tanks on. The Fastpacks eventually faded away from the Eagles and they remained part of the Strike Eagle Design. It looks like the new F-15EX will have them but that's another new beast in itself! https://www.boeing.com/defense/f-15ex/

Hi JackD, I would wait until the Easter sale coming up and pick up both of them as a bundle for a discount. You can fly the TF-51D for free but take a look at what WWII Airplanes you want...I currently only fly the P-51D and Spitfire from the era. You can likely pick this up for $30 US on the sale. https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/shop/bundles/normandy_and_wwii_assets_pack_bundle/

Hi Gizmo, if you are using the Warthog Throttle to TDC Slew and Depress to Lock, here's a video with some good settings for the TDC to make it more realistic and easier to use.

Question about brevity regarding elevation in feet and meters
JUICE-AWG replied to Ducksen's topic in Sim Research
Per Tactical Pascale, a retired RAF GCI and now a civilian instructor on the subject...Angels are for Friendly aircraft and Thousands of Feet are for Bogies and Bandits. When you hear the term "Flight Level" (FL) that refers to rounded altitudes above 17,999 feet so the first Flight Level is Flight Level 180 or short for 18,000 feet. And of course these are all in MSL or Mean Sea Level or in DCS, ASL for Above Sea Level. When you cross and are staying above 18,000 feet, it's recommended you change your altimeter to 29.92 so that everyone is calibrated the same at higher altitudes. If a controller assigns you an altitude between 10,000 and 17,900 feet, you will hear something like "Climb (or Descend) to One Zero Thousand Feet (10,000) and One seven thousand niner hundred feet (17,900). If below 10,000 feet, the you would use a term like "Four Thousand six hundred" for 4,600 feet. Check out Pascale's videos here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC4Mwn7U1SSeaDLMVB7ERE0Q -
Looking forward to doing this on the new Carriers when they arrive and having the extra support for Plat Cam and LSO Interaction will be great!

I think the AIM-9P is a rear-aspect missile only...as in you need a solid heat signature to get a seeker head track and you may be double picking up the bandit with your gun-track radar at the same time your AIM-9P is slaving over to the heat mark...are you getting this same result from a head-to-head engagement? I think you are right, the lock and seeker tone "Growl" are coincidental. The all aspect AIM-9L "Lima" was the first sidewinder with all-aspect capabilities. About your second part, if there are two targets and they are both hostile, you don't need to worry which one it will hit. Since it's a "Poppa" you are obviously on the bandits rear quarter or six and have both of them in the control zone. Fire away! But, if one of them is your wingman, another friendly aircraft, or unknown, ROE should be to hold fire until they separate and you have a better SA on the bandit and who is priority one for the kill...and always be checking your Six!

Did you by chance place a cellphone next to your controller cables on your desk or in your pit...you might have some RF interference going on.

I flew Rise of Flight for a while with my older system before upgrading and the Hornet/Viper releases...I should look back into it, but I think DCS could really evolve with some WWII aircraft. Heck, we could even get a new Normandy Map textured for the period. I still don't agree with the need for a channel map but I can hope the price is decent since I have had the Normandy/WWII Assets since it was prebuy. Yet I digress!:joystick: For Eagle Dynamics to grow, they need to be in a position with capital or market share dominance to possibly acquire or merger with another WWI sim development company and solve two problems with one move. Acquire or merge with someone already established but struggling, and they make the ED team stronger and the fan base wider. Think of it from the business side of things.

Thanks Neil, and same to you...stay safe and healthy!

I Edit the Lua files, but I am still at the stage where I get a friend to guide me through it...but it is wonderful when the switches work like you want them. Find a friend to help you and I think I have a couple of videos on the basic overview of Lua edits. See if any of your friends are able to assist in that! The top video is an overview and the next one is a little more in depth. Good luck and send me a PM if I can help.
