  1. pinkie switch is button 36 I think... Go into control panels, and into the "game controllers" section (depending on what OS you are using) ... you'll see the X52 listed ther (assuming you have the drivers installed) and a mapping of all the buttons... you can press a button / axis and see the corresponding ID light up in the control panel. As others have said above, within BS, you can simply double click on an option (under the X52 column) and click the corredsponding button, and it will auto-set to that button. SST is used to program the stick to use Keyboard strokes insgead of directx button pushes... set the correct Key press (ie "G" for "Raise / lower gear") on whichwver button you want, save the profile , and make sure to load the profile in SST , and bob should be your uncle.
  2. Thanks Grimes! I have re-posted at 104th phoenix boards, hope you dont mind ? (http://www.104thphoenix.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&p=10161#10161)
  3. just to add a little to that...scheduling of app execution could / would work, however, at least in Lockon's case , there is no command line parameterisation that would allow you to batch start say: - stat lockon - multiplayer - start server - 10mbps - load map "xyz" - unpause This can only be achieved through the gui (whether manually or via ServMan) ... It would be good if ED allowed for command line paramaterisation, but the implication then is that they may develop a dedicated server executable ... this could happen one day as DCS evolves, but is not likely at this point. Hopefully they will focus more on the multiplayer needs going forward, but in reality, we probably account fo less than 1% of their client base.
  4. sounds like you two boys might want to set up a conference call.. GL with the global stats initiative case, it's a great idea ... hopefully a ubiquitous data transfer method can be developed (ala SOAP) to let each squads existing solution stay intact, whilst also providing data for the global stats initiative. My only suggestion is to not let yourself get too "featurey" ... concentrate on the global stats aspect, and don't worry about the Global Chat / server query features unless they come for free! KISS as they say , and beware the feature creep!
  5. Hiya Bullit, All of the campaion missions can also be flown as individual missions (just look in the campain directory, you'll see each of the individual missions .miz files). It won't count towards the campain statistics of course, but if you want to play the missions that follow, you can.
  6. awesome..best bird in the game hands down
  7. I wouldn't get too heat up about it. Think of the modelling work that will need to be done for the first AA module: - Advanced ballistics for guided missiles - Guided Missile Logic - Advanced radar logic and software I believe ED will be working towards these iteratively in the engine... it makes sence to release a non Airborne radar / radar guided missile module next, as this capitalises on the existing strongpoints of the engine ala KA50. Now, as to what the following module after the A10c is? ... exciting to think about what may be in the pipe ... we know they are looking at AH64a, Mi24, SU27, Mig29, F15c and F16c as potencial modules .... so, you can assume work on advanced radar logic (etc) is also in the pipe.
  8. no fix at this point. Black Shark was intended , primarily, as a single player experieince ... in developer updates, ED have stated that further attention will be brought to the multi-player side (infact the recent patch , addressed a lot of multiplayer changes). The next time I would expect any kind of UI update is when the A10c module is brought to market (this year some time we all hope :) ) , which may (or may not!) imply an update to the multiplayer UI of BS also (assuming an overlap between the two products)
  9. very interesting! .... Do the hinds carry IR missles, or have they managed to las a fast mover in flight ?
  10. There are no triggers in Lockon :) (at least until 2.0, where it should share the same ME as DCS:BS I blieve?) The (currentl) lockon ME is VERY p`rimative in comparison to the DCS ME.
  11. congrats!... Having FD on will make it a lot harder to hover / hold a staqble heading as you no longer have the advantage of a pitch/roll/ heading hold. Have you tried the "press and hold" trim button method... you get the same results as having FD on, but only while you have the trimmer pressed and held...when you "button off" the trimmer, the holds all come back on. Only "press and hold" when you are making changes to heading / speed etc..., and release when you are happy with your current heading or turn rate. is a nice comprimise between press-press-press and FD. course it means you need an iron thumb (or whatever finger you use to trim)
  12. I dunno, if the A model also got DCS'd I could definately see myself flying it... Same thrill as using the 25a, but I guess without the speed / maneuverability benefits .. still...steam guages ftw
  13. thats pretty healthy..I understand there was 90 ppl in the Lockon HL channel?! ... that is bloody good news for our fav sim!
  14. you need a medal for that, immediately
  15. I can't recall if this has been asked for but: -An interface , or means to manually toggle flag statuses in DCS missions.... This would help mission designers considerably when debugging missions, and would also allow for multiplayer missions that are "controlled" by someone.... you can simulate this by having an in game entity (ie a client) activate triggers by flying into zones, or whatever, but it would be GREATLY simplified by allowing for flag statuses to be toggled (and polled for current status) by a console command or external method. Think of large scale missions with a "campain commander" triggering events and units dynamically..playing the role of a dynamic GCI or FAC or Airboss.
  16. That is a string of text that windows identifies by polling the device directly ... does not necassarily imply the OS knows how to deal with it...I still suggest you look for updated OS "drivers" (they aren't really drivers!) for the CPU and chipset ..... windows needs to know how to properly categorize the processor. Good luck!
  17. 1) for your first question, no.... if you have a modifier, and it is activated, then any subsequent keypresses would be "modifier + keypress"... 2) might need to update the OS / chipset drivers to recognise the newer UID code for a newer CPU ? ... doubtlessly there will be a Phenom II X4 "driver" update for x64..
  18. good concept coop! ... look forward to enjoying the results :)
  19. great work Aero ... sat for 50 mins waitng for that vid to complete streaming, but was worth it ;) Nem (Ecuador)
  20. That, and every minute spent typing out an explaination on a forum, is a minute not spent making the game :)
  21. yes, this is a vital procedure, not just for target handover , but for co-ordinating navigation....
  22. shift - f10to toggle them off an on.. I fly with them off as much as possible, but will still flick them on from time to time for a bit of SA
  23. so, dont forget , the other formation flying you se in game is pretty much AI ... it is not humanly possible (wihtout hunders of hours of practise) to be that accurate. IRL, of course, pilots HAVE those hunders of hours, whereas we , as gamers, have maybe only a small portion o that time, and very little of it concentrating on "logistical" flying (ie. we mostly want to be out blowing stuff up). It IS worth your time though, if you are serious about playing in MP in both Shark and Lockon (an an other sim!) to DEDICATE some time into formation flight practise. Things to remember are (and has been stated above by other folks!) - The lead pilot MUST be steady and consistant .. any changes lead makes are AMPLIFIED as they go down the line... - IMHO allmost all formation flying for combat should be non verbal ... spped, altitude and heading are all implied by leads speed, altitude and heading...as long as lead isnt jerking the stick around, the rest of the flight should be able to match it. - flying as wing can take 100% of your concentration .... fly with your eyes out of the cockpit and use visual clues on you lead's airframe to judge if you are accelerating, decelrating, decending etc as relates to him...dont worry about what your speed and altitude are on your guages...thats leads problem. Anyway, sorry, just my 2c ... flying in MP situtations is what makes these games for me...
  24. they did release the Black Shark manuals in advance, but just bare in mind that the manual is (and should be) one of the last things completed , as the game changes towards release, making change upon change to the manual would be stressfull (especially for quality control purposes!) ... I'd look for the manual to come out some 4 weeks in advance of the game (at a guess), if they decide to release it early. Wags has mentioned he is looking to start the A10 Poducers notes soon (if he hasn't allready) which I think is very very good news!
  25. This is great ... am so pleased that "we" are not so niche as to make future delopment impossible. Congrats to ED \ TFC , and congrats to this simming "community" .. long may it continue ... this is definately the simming rennaisance we all hoped for 10 years ago!
