Unable to bind controls since update
Nodak replied to Random's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I've got also, since the update. Can only bind one command at a time, than it fails to bind any further commands, including when in the plane. When I drop back into the plane all functions that are already set work fine, so it's not the controllers that are dropping out. Any axis that's already set up won't register any response when fine tuning is selected after a new command is set, yet they still work fine in the pit. Have to completely exit and restart the game to do the next binding, one at a time. Kind of put the new Mig beyond reach, bad timing for the Tomcat also. Also using a Virpil, but it's dead on the other none Virpil stuff too. -
Whatever happens under no circumstances put a banging contact sound in there, that took forever to get rid of in the other sim, can drive you absolutely mad in some pits, to the point you refuse to fly them.

That's actually a pretty slick idea, best with a custom scaling setting. I don't see how you'd get motion sickness from just a mouse cursor moving. More immersion breaking having to reach for the mouse and supplement the movement to those hard to reach controls.

Any experience with Samsung Odyssey Plus & DCS yet?
Nodak replied to fargo007's topic in Virtual Reality
The plus is back on sale, $299 at samsung. Almost in trackIR price range, heck of a deal. -
Since the last WMR patch, it's now the default setting, there is no longer a need to set it.
-
I don't, but I'm aware other sim groups do, and some tweak pages for VR speak of it. I've tested it, and on my system with DCS it results in forever load times, and occasional crashes in the load screen. So it might explain the hang time he's experiencing in DCS. Should have been a bit more specific and said DON'T do that.

The quick symmetrical is already a relief here, ability to play a bit is gravy.

Have you set a custom pagefile size instead of allowing windows to manage it?

I set mine according to physical cockpit fit. My outer arms while seated shouldn't be merged into the canopy rails, and the stick should be where my stick is, and throttle pretty much on too. Amazingly the MFD's are now readable including the colored map of the hornet. When I roll my head to look back and around it's right there on the seat head rest where it looks right, works for me.

If it's working OK, just ignore it. Mine did that for the longest time with the AMD Vega card, it was just new hardware and occ is slow as molasses to update their software to list it. Couple of months later and a few new patches and all was green again.

Thanks for that, very clever and simple solution.

It's got to be a difference in eye's, I can tell it's there, but not by any direct visual cue in the goggles. It's mainly when they are remove after a time in DCS my eyes see it. Usually the right eye is a bit out of focus until it re-adapts. For now limiting exposure, there's other flight sims.

https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=224024&page=19 The rubber band does the trick, weight no longer all on the forehead. Than loosen up the crown band and relieve some pressure. You can find them at any good exercise section in a sports store.

Nope, first I've heard of it.

Odyssey nearly 45 days now, never looking back, richer colors, crisp and clean image compared to the rift. Greater depth, far less eye strain, but not quite as comfortable to break in. You can also look at the need to adjust code and tune settings for what it really is, potential for future expandability. Rift is at it's lifes end, all your ever going to milk out of it has already been done.

If the launch bar is down, they won't take them out either.

Would you fly Civilian/military cargo plane in DCS? Adapting the C-130...
Nodak replied to Frag's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Realistically you can't mix or interchange certain models, they're not the same aircraft. An A model is different to the extreme, different mark engines, props, wing, and runs primarily on DC power, so electrically it's radically different. You don't just hop into either one, you go through specific schools before you make the swap, or at least I did. Even the oxygen system is completely different using gas cylinders. A's got more in common with a B-29 under the hood, than a C-130B. Your basic B through H pretty are much similar, moving to J and up, same thing, swapping is not going to happen, your in glass cockpit territory now. So radically different you lose the engineer. In the trash hauler world 80% of the action is happening on the ground, getting airborne is a relief, kick back and put your feet up. Nice idea, but your going to have to get a plan, it ain't going to be easy. Personally wouldn't buy it, been there, done it for eight years, you won't suspend the disbelief, not on a modern multi, to me it'll always be about the crew. Fighter/attack/helo pilot, all the action happens once he sits in the seat, big difference. -
In windows mixed, start the game from the virtual desktop. Your game isn't the sensor of interest currently. It will if you start it inside WMR.

But I can't break just one...

Don't count on anything drastically changing the VR scene, and don't count on waiting for a future dream to pay off any time soon. Do a search on "VR sales", there's nothing positive being reported, quite the opposite. Going the same direction as our controllers, a few good small producers left standing at great expense and greater wait. The stuff out there is pretty damn descent for what we're doing, some who remember the old full motion mil sims, cost millions, big as a building with the awful graphics, in their day top of the line, they're junk compared with what we get to play with. I'd like to see more scaling sliders for more settings to tweak the game much finer.

Permanently switched from a rift, but, do check one out for fit first, there's not much chance for you to adjust much of anything if it doesn't fit. Already used to the feel of it on my head, took a while, for me a none issue, fits me well. I'm unable to crank any clicks to tighten it one bit, heads already too big, size 7.5", but eyes are exactly where they need to be. Pure luck. If you are a good fit, it's a sweet upgrade, the visuals are a treat in comparison with a blurry screen door.

Pixel density vs MSAA vs supersampling: mid-level GPU
Nodak replied to DeltaMike's topic in Virtual Reality
The lowest level of shadows, think it's called flat, don't really have a hit, but very useful for spotting fast movers low. I only see them under active objects, like flying craft, statics, ships, and vehicles. The simple terrain shadows seems to do the same for buildings in cities, anything else on mine for shadows I'll know it. Can't prove it, but suspect setting SS outside the game in steamVR also applies it to the desktop image, because it sure seems a greater strain for the same amount. Is it possible for MSAA settings to be fractional? The 2 setting seems a bit too much, if it were possible to have half or a third I'd be happy. Only need it to fix the thin straight objects like high line poles, or airfield towers, the mast assembly on the carrier, they all look horrid with bright pixels flashing. Otherwise it's too big of a hit even at 2. Once I get off the ground it's all OK. -
It's pulling data out of the mission files, so if the designer didn't integrate certain things into the mission, they don't show up.
