  1. Wonder if part of the problem was an almost complete lack of good information and photo's. The photo's from back than were sort of bland, always see the same ones. Hardly anything known in public about its mission and operating environment. Flaggon someday perhaps?
  2. That may be so, but there's a huge difference in military expenditures on the home team, and profiteering in billions privately via export.
  3. Two words, "Jimme Caata" Would have never happened without him, he convinced the world swamping it in lethal weapons would stabilize it and bring peace, and actually got away with it. https://nacla.org/article/carters-arms-policy
  4. Leave as is, mine's still named openalpha, works fine.
  5. In the jet, there is no option for a radio with hot mic, only for intercom. Even though VA recognizes it, the game didn't, since the radio was never keyed in the jet.
  6. Big thing that's going to immediately have a positive impact is an extension on a good quality stick. That in itself is going to dampen and smooth out the inputs. Closer you can get it to the actual scale of motion, the better. Easy to see in VR where you can set them up to match, much harder to break wings than.
  7. Big problem is, it's a two way street. Holding a 4 G turn above supersonic, what happens if you lose speed, go through transonic and slower, and stick forces start to drop dramatically for the same G load? Does the curve suddenly start increasing stick aft? To be fair it should if it's also being regulated the other way. Otherwise it's computer controlled FBW.
  8. Its not going to something simple to implement, stick forces aren't just G dependent, they're also speed sensitive and responsive to units of AOA. End result will be fly by wire like training wheels if you cannot violate these conditions. Your going to need lots of data in the first place, than how are you going to set a dynamic limiter if it can't push back?
  9. No, it isn't realistic. Unless your putting and changing actual pounds of force on your stick. Messing with curves on a joystick trying to replicate is in no way real. It is training wheels. Who mentioned anything about cheating?
  10. Got it already in the Hornet, called flyby wire. Apply it to non flyby wire, and it's called training wheels. Than what happens next is everyone whines and gripes because of the rapid increase of newly dangerous formerly stick wanking wannabe ace's who've lost all ability to ever stall. I'd settle for a graphical acceleration readout within something like the flight control positioning indicators.
  11. Valuable lesson here, don't ever pre order again. I tried to, but my bank refused to do that kind of transaction. Thought I'd have to wait a few weeks or months to get one, but have had it in my grubby hands now for three days. And ordered it after pre's.:megalol:
  12. AMD video cards, the settings threads usually assume Nividia by default. Not always optimal for us strays from the herd.
  13. Because a few of us run Vega's, the image does improve beyond 1.3 on one.
  14. Don't think any of the normal zoom or snaps are going to work in VR. Key bindings for VR are under the UI menu, bottom of the plane list.
  15. Key bindings, upper left scroll menu, the very last in the list for individual aircraft, named UI for user interface, at the bottom there's a center and zoom VR bindings. All keys in the UI are universal, and you can bind an aircraft key to a DX button used by it, but it won't work, the UI over rides.
  16. Mine arrived today, also the brake lever is longer with a different curve, can use the middle finger now for controlling, bit more natural with my hand. Not as much hand movement off the grip to run it. The two buttons on the back face are flat and larger, different feel. The flip trigger button that's triggered when you move it through the up and down is very much a momentary switch, you can't hold or manipulate it, a quick flicker and done either way you swing it. Nine extra buttons, hell yeah! Upgrading the firmware is mandatory, the older stuff won't see the extra CM buttons. Never new the connecting pin between the throttles also was a button, gained one there too. One of the options for throttle will turn the five modes into buttons.
  17. http://decatur58.org/Sea_Stories.htm Shots of Bellinger getting his Silver Star. They didn't use his jet for the scene's, "Limpy Dick" wouldn't have been good publicity.:D
  18. Excellent job guys, good clean humor, even the young ones enjoyed the show.
  19. ${1} https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JROmHzavjA8 Launch crews had balls of steel.
  20. How much would you fork over to get an hours worth of sitting time in a real F-14, let alone play with the systems powered up, not to mention fly it? VR makes the price of admission well worth it, when you look at it that way the modules are the cheap part, and the planes are so easy to store, you can hop in any time. Got to think positive. I've grabbed a few just to tour the pit, usually as a minimum bind the flight axis, and take a few test spins. Some have been in the hanger a long time, used to fly, like the original A-10C module and all the LockOn stuff, those already paid their dues long ago. Haven't bought everything, but sure is much in the bucket to stay busy and genuinely interesting to me.
  21. The latest edit note on the bottom of the posts says revision in progress. So your good to go, just have to wait a bit.
  22. Just ordered one, in stock at the world store page. Woo Hoo
  23. I'm already proficient, but have a ten year old I'd like to teach. Have two rigs and two HMD's ready to go, they've been racing cars, but one shows high aptitude and interest in aviation. I've got limited time, so the two seat should get us going faster through the basics. Think the L-39 will do fine as a basic trainer, looks quite capable on utube, nice to have the weapons option as the next step. We'll be looking at jets in the future any way. Thanks for the input all.
  24. Which one works as the better basic two seat trainer, this or the L-39?
  25. Mouse buttons there are also extremely useful, look and click.
