  1. Er, no? The missile will happily kill stuff that's only using its search radar. Pretty sure that's what they're usually used for. I've killed numerous EWR emplacements which only emit a pulse in the missiles direction once every several seconds.
  2. Sorry but that isn't an option. ED recently stated they aren't accepting anything less than clickable, professional flight model aircraft. I like this choice because it will prevent any sub par modules from making their way into the game. Also prevents people starting a module unless they know they can reach said requirements.
  3. They are fire and forget. The aircraft just says "look here and lock this radar source. That's your target." The inertial guidance helps if the target turns off their radar while the missile is in flight. The INS guides the missile towards the last position of the radar. Make sure not to fire the 25MPU's near their max range unless you're very high up. They like to fall short of the target sometimes.
  4. From the real life F/A-18 manual: "Rapid aft stick movements, with or without G limit override, commands a very high G onset rate. This can cause immediate G-LOC without the usual symptoms of tunnel vision, greyout, and blackout. Consciousness may not return for more than 20 seconds after G is restored to near 1 G." You can interpret this as you wish but I think current G behavior is pretty accurate. Apply G slowly and you're fine.
  5. Try it with low fuel (20ish percent) and R-73s on the wingtips. The aircraft will be very tail heavy and more sensitive in pitch.
  6. Have you tried doing a startup manually following a YouTube video?
  7. It's still not 100% fixed but in the latest 2.0 patch it became much less stable at high AoA. If you pull before neutralizing rolling/yawing moments the aircraft has a tendency to depart. Violently.
  8. Welcome to the forums! Honestly I would skip using another person's profile. It's like using another person's seat and mirror settings in a car. It may work but it won't suit you very well. It'll take a while but setting up your own in game control profiles is very rewarding in the end. I've had my X-55 for over a year and it gets used pretty much daily. While the overall build quality isn't the best, nothing has broken or stopped working. It has more than enough buttons for any aircraft in DCS currently (that's without using any modifiers) and if you lube the gimbal assembly every once in a while it is very smooth and precise. Thanks to the hall effect sensors in the stick there is practically zero jitter/noise around the center position. Slightly off topic: it sounds like you're relatively new to flying in general. Most of the in game tutorials focus on weapon deployment. Ignore them for now. Learn to fly and land the Su-25 in the free flight missions or on the Virtual Aerobatics server where you're not carrying any weapons. Most people (myself included) go straight to the weapons training missions and are forced to fly an aircraft weighted down with all sorts of ordnance. This makes a huge difference in the way it flies and makes it seem like a very heavy, slow, and underpowered brick when in fact it's none of the above ;)
  9. ...which is done by pressing left alt 5 and then left alt 4.
  10. I think I'm misinterpreting your post, but "max permissible" = maximum allowed. It doesn't care how you reach said AoA's it's just saying not to exceed them.
  11. For those of you who don't know, this is the A-10's last resort when it comes to control failures. It kills all of your hydraulics. The only thing keeping you level is cables going from the stick to the elevator and the trim tabs on the ailerons. On the left side the cockpit there's a panel outlined in red and yellow, it's on the bottom right of this panel. (I've done some experiments with seeing how many systems I can shut down and still land safely. It turns out the answer is "all of them!") I've found the aileron and rudder behavior to be realistic and match the IRL flight manual pretty well. (The ailerons are only moved by the trim tabs and will go limp when you're stationary) The elevator is a bit odd. In flight it moves very slowly because of human muscle limitations as it should, however pitch trim is backwards and very very sensitive. So sensitive that usually turning on MRFCS in flight is fatal because the trim is too strong to counter with elevator. Additionally turning off all electronics appears to take the elevator back to normal (using hydraulic pressure to move) Anyone know if this is realistic?
  12. Might try this in an Eagle but that would just be cheating tbh...
  13. Wait so you can designate way points for the Rb-15 using the radar cursor? Why wouldn't that functionality be available for the Bk-90? They both use inertial navigation right?
  14. Yeah, I was sorta expecting "in case you haven't seen it yet, here's the Viggen teaser video!"
  15. Not a single word on the Viggen what in the absolute heck
  16. She thick ;) I'm looking forward to it because it's a different design philosophy. Also I just noticed there's inner and outer elevons, what's the difference between them?
  17. Before anyone gets their hopes up, let it be known there are exactly zero plans to expand the size of the Black Sea map. Yes it will get a graphical overhaul in 2.5. But the devs explicitly stated it's not going to be expanded in size. I'd be willing to bet that includes the introduction of more airfields.
  18. It is often cited the Viggen can operate from a 500m airstrip. Earlier in the thread somebody mentioned the reverser can be used with afterburner in an emergency. I wonder just how short we can make the landing roll if we really try ;)
  19. Yeah, I hope they at least acknowledge the teaser video. Best case scenario they give a rough estimate as to when the pre-purchase will start.
  20. True, but it's the only one in which the operator is sending steering commands directly to the missile as opposed to the TOW/beam riders where the missile flies itself into the center of the crosshair.
  21. I thought the consensus was it's not rare for a modern fighter to go a bit over Mach 1 in full MIL, so I provided an example. If new info was reveled that showed the mirage can't then I stand corrected.
  22. See my signature ;)
  23. I just realized the Rb-05 will be the first man-in-the-loop weapon in DCS.
  24. An F-15 will 'supercruise' while carrying two bags. It's not a bug.
