  1. I agree that turbulence needs to be improved and made less random. However there are some atmospheric effects (ie thermals) that just aren't strong enough to have a significant effect on the high wing loaded aircraft in DCS. The reason I say that is the tradeoff between development time and in game implications seems very poor.
  2. It's WIP screenshots for DCS WWII.
  3. Yes! You made me realize autocorrect hates non-english words
  4. 3000th post in the Viggen thread!
  5. DCS: LOCOMOTIVE CONFIRMED!
  6. Here's the video: He also talks about the planes general design, making instructors shit their pants, and getting the thing 0.2 Mach above Vne to do a zoom climb to over 100,000 feet.
  7. It's worth mentioning the MiG-15 is also fit for these bush operations. Have y'all tried landing that baby on a road before? The thing is built like a dirtbike and can land just about anywhere. Also it's tiny and awfully fast, so it can get in and out quickly.
  8. I absolutely adore the way she flies, especially in landing configuration. It will actually pitch UP into the stall! This, combined with the very slow engine response means you REALLY have to be on your toes during the appraoch. Also, compared to the sabre the mig has: 1. Power 2. Power 3. Thrust 4. Climb rate 5. Power 6. Did I mention power?
  9. Something that has always bothered me about the fishbed is how the control surfaces are capped to a certain deflection speed. While sitting on the ramp hot you can watch the stick and surfaces lag behind your joystick while doing large, sudden movements. This also happens in flight, giving the plane a heavy and sluggish feel (which may be realistic!). Is this an actual limitation imposed by the hydraulic system or is it a simplified way to simulate a heavy stick in flight?
  10. Everything has a clickable cockpit except for the default 25T and FC3 aircraft (F-15, Su-25/27/33, MiG-29, A-10A) I think the video you watched was the A-10C, which is a more advanced and clickable version of the A-10A. ED doesn't plan on releasing any more non-clickable modules, nor do any third parties.
  11. Of course, the engines off restriction would only be put on non clickable aircraft as it is now.
  12. Isn't that arcade mode, though?
  13. 100 knots backwards??? Not only would posting a video help a lot to figure out what's going wrong, it would be pretty hilarious to watch
  14. Why not both? But seriously, it doesn't take a drop tank sized warhead and 1500kn terminal closure rate to kill a mess of wires and antennas. It is, however, needed to kill a hundred tons of hardened steel powered by pure hatred. The problem with the current range estimation is it is very simplified and/or fixed. It doesn't know exactly what you want to kill so it assumes the worst target (strongest defenses) under the worst launch conditions (low altitude) Same reason the Kh-25 can be lofted to 3-5x it's listed max range.
  15. Something I've found time and time again when teaching new players the ropes of DCS is they always get confused by the ground crew logic. Myself included when I started out. Suggestion for non clickable AC: On the rearming image that shows the plane add something along the lines of "WARNING: Allow engines to stop completely before contacting ground crew." Slightly more complex but a better solution overall would be to grey out the OK button while the engines are above 5% with a message. I cannot say how frustrating it is to spend 2 minutes setting up a load out on the frogfoot only to realize the engines were ACTUALLY at 5.0001% and have to do it over again. Also, a timer that calculates refueling times would be relatively easy to implement and very useful. (Refueling always happens at 3000lb/min) Speaking of the fueling time, I can't help but doubt WWII birds often refueled in less than 60 seconds...:megalol:
  16. Thanks Lion! I thought the cross was the boresight marker lol. As for the INS, what I meant was the mirage uses the radar for range and nothing else. The actual solution is computed by a gun snake which I assumed came from the INS because it contains extremely accurate rate gyros and accelerometers... no need for a second set just for the gunsight.
  17. Ignoring the obvious issue where the bombs clipped up through your plane... As far as I'm aware, 0.1G is way outside release parameters for ANY dumb bomb. The fact that the drop went haywire is not surprising at all. Edit: didn't notice bignewy's post at the beginning of the page
  18. Yeah. Gravity won't help them separate when you're shoving the plane down onto them faster than gravity is pulling them.
  19. In the F-5 it is stupidly easy to go zero or negative G. If you are at zero or negative G the bombs will be very hesitant to leave your plane, which is bad because they're programmed to explode on the next thing they touch. I've blown myself up a few times in the A-10 by trying to push the nose down too hard just before dropping.
  20. Yeah, the burners will be very hesitant to light in certain flight regimes. The engine doesn't know or care they failed to ignite so it carries right on dumping fuel out the tail pipes...
  21. Something that will bring a few of them up is the APU generator. The switch for it is just to the right of the battery switches.
  22. In the real thing they engage afterburner slowly to feel each stage kick in (secondary source told me this, may not be accurate)
  23. Server down?
  24. Illegal weapons are weapons that you add by modding the game... which is nearly impossible due to integrity check. Definitely not illegal weapons. Only thing I can think of is some sort of mixup with the admins. Contact one of them.
