  1. DCS F-18 FTW! :) All I care is that ED are successful and get something out that we all want in addition to their amazing work. They are a one of a kind company.
  2. I am really excited about the F15 AFM. It will bring me back online if it is as good as the A10 and Su-25. The Su-33, and 25T 3D pits are big bonuses. I look forward most now to the Su-27 AFM, and then of course F18 DCS. Thanks for all the work ED, and beta testers!
  3. Well, I was kicked in the head by a horse when I was young, but I'm alright neigh...ow.
  4. I guess you are out of warranty? My first thing to do would be to contact CH. CH gear, and the company are great, but no product is 100% defect free. I have had the gameport versions, and usb versions of their controllers. I have had 1 bad pot, and 1 bad button contact. I was able to fix both, and I never have had any other issues, spikes, or otherwise. Strange that your attempt at pot switching didn't work. Good luck, it seems going to CH may be your only option.
  5. That's incredible looking! There is, and will be nothing as good as DCS. Nice work ED.
  6. News story on DCS and how the map takes place in Crimea. http://foxtrotalpha.jalopnik.com/did-a-decade-old-flight-simulator-predict-the-invasion-1535619213 This not meant to start a political conversation. Only posted this to note that the comparison was made on a news site.
  7. I can't recall if this has been suggested, so I will suggest it again now. All real HUD footage I have seen shows the target designator shaking as it tries to track the target in the HUD. In FC/DCS we have a perfectly stable target designator that seems locked to the center coordinate of the target object in the sim. I would think this would potentially be a very small amount of work to create a bit of shaking and instability visually for the target designator for realism, and immersion. Thanks for listening, and I look forward to the AFM for the fast movers.
  8. Hi Sova, What you say is true, but if the 27ET is fired in EOS, enemy will not get a warning. Which is a very nice advantage :)
  9. Great news! I can't wait to try this.
  10. Good pointers. Understand as well that if you were playing on a server with AWACS in the air, EOS can be way more of an advantage. Using AWACS you can creep up on someone using EOS alone. So your observation about an advantage without AWACS is invalid if both sides have it. The other Su/MiG advantage is the R25T as it has the longest range of any thermal guided missile. Also, the helmet target tracking / off bore firing. You need to search the forums on the best way to use radar to find your targets first, as the tips already given here detail. It's all about finding the best way to scan potential areas of bandit location and having good situational awareness. If you find them first in an F15, flying high, and fast you can use your height and speed for better missile range and jet manoeuvring. Those low, and slow guys will be at a disadvantage. Also, if you tally a bandit in a F15 by chance without your radar painting him, and giving you away, you can sneak up as well with radar off, and fire your Sidewinder using the missile's seeker alone.
  11. Waiting for the FA-18 :) Krupi, you are hardcore!
  12. It would stand to reason with the level of accuracy of past DCS products, that the DCS FA18 will have ground radar. As we know, no current released modules have ground radar modelling. So, there is a lot of hard work ahead I bet.
  13. I am looking very much forward though to the MiG21, as well as the updated flight models for the Su27 and F15. Those jets with flight modelling equal to DCS A10C will go along way to adding something new. I can see myself getting back into things with these updates and the new MiG. Not to mention a lot of their work can go towards the FA18. Of course once the FA18 comes out, we can then bitch about the Russian jet counterpart not being released for use in DACT and mission simulations :) About planes suitable for the current map available. Realistic scenarios can still be made, even if they are not historically accurate. For me it's all about the mission, and senario. I don't have to be necessarily re-enacting history for enjoyment.
  14. Well, I had to post in this thread. I know I will sound like a broken record. I know ED are not happy to hear me say this again, and again. I know there are reasons for having no DCS level jet as of yet. I know not everyone has the same preferences. Some like helos, some like WWII planes etc. My observations are that things as of Mar 2013 for modern jet fans are very sad. To me (my own personnel observation) it seems ED were built on the foundation of Lock On/Flaming Cliffs. A core foundation of fans of jet fighters were built. Then, all the new shiny toys came, and none of those new products were for the core audience of jet fans. The updating of FC is nice, but when you've been flying FC since 2008, and spoiled with the incredible work that is BS, A10C and P51, it's hard to fly the same FC jets with new paint jobs, and not be disappointed. What ever the reasons, the end fact is it is 2014, and no new study level modern jet. The new updated F15, and Su27 will be great, but not being up to A10C standards will still be disappointing to me. Also, they are not here yet. I don't know the state of multi-player for DCS right now. I know I was a big part of it's past, but without player vs player action with something up to the DCS level, I will wait. I don't want to be part of DCS until a modern DCS level jet is with us. That is just me though. I mean no disrespect to the hard work of ED, and their testers. Just my own preference.
  15. edit: Yes, he was talking to me, but I can't remeber that far back. Quicksilver, please mail me some of what you are smoking bro :)
  16. You're welcome Milli. Microsoft should add a disable button to the Game Controller applet. Problem solved. Really though, every game on the PC nowadays should be able to support multiple controllers. If they all followed ED's example, we'd all be better off.
  17. No problem Jase. Here is the post http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=117720
  18. For games/sims that don't support multiple controllers (Lazy Game Devs!) here is a way to simply click a shortcut that will disable selected controllers without having to manually unplug the USB cords. You can then click a shortcut to enable all controllers. I've done this in Win 7, but I'm fairly certain you can do this in Vista and 8 as well. A bit of setup to begin, but a stich in time saves nine as they say... Step 1 Download the devcon tool. I shared it at the following link. I have used it with Win7 64 http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?b2igq0q38am229z Extract and place devcon.exe in a folder of your choice Step 2 Get the Hardware IDs of each game controller from the properties screen in Devices and Printers. Copy and paste each one into a notepad file for reference. - Go to Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Devices and Printers - Right click on the controller and select Properties. Select Hardware tab. Select Properties button. Select Details tab. Select the Property drop down menu and select Hardware Ids to get to the screen below. Select the top ID number, right click, copy, then paste it into notepad. Step 3 Create a .bat file for each controller you want to use on it's own. Also, create a .bat file to enable all controllers. In this example I will create a bat file to disable all but my gamepad. - Using notepad create a file and save it to the same location you saved the file devon.exe. Name it something like 'Xbox Gamepad.bat' - In the file you just created in notepad, type the words 'devcon enable' followed by a space, then the ID number in quotation marks of the controller to enable. In this case my gamepad. Paste it from your reference file. - Type the words 'devcon disable' followed by a space, then the ID number in quotation marks of each controller to disable. I have another 8 controllers to disable. (yes I have too many) - Save the file The file should look like the following - Create an additional separate bat file for any other controller you want to use as the only controller connected to Windows. I have a bat file to disable all but my gamepad, a bat file for all but my wheel, and a bat file for all but my CH controllers. Save each file separately. - Create a bat file that enables all controllers and name it 'All.bat'. Save it in the same location as devcon.exe. This bat file is the one you can open to have all controllers re-enabled again for games that support multiple controllers. Here is what mine looks like for all my 9 controllers. Now you should have all your files saved in one folder. Similar to the following. Step 4 Create a shortcut to each bat file. Place the shortcut somewhere you can click it quick. Here is where mine are. That's it. Click on a shortcut to enable your controller(s) of choice. You can verify what controllers are enabled at any time by going to the Game Controller applet. Below you can see just my gamepad, but all 9 of my controllers are physically plugged into my computer's USB ports still.
  19. When I get a chance over the next few days, I can post my method for creating shortcuts to disable/re-enable any usb device. This lets you enable/disable selected hardware with a single double-click without physically plugging/unplugging anything. Stupid games that don't hanfle multiple devices.
  20. Drop all else. WWII stuff, Nevada Map, who knows what else... I know there is parallel work going on at the same time, but when you release news, or actually release new product before a DCS Fighter jet, it feels like the fans that flew Lockon, that invested all theat time and money for all those years are being pushed to the back of the line. Work on DCS level fighter jet first :(
  21. AFM in the F15! This is a huge step towards the future a complete DCS level fighter jet. Can't wait. This will get me motivated to get back in the game. Thanks ED for the hard work.
  22. I WISH! :) More like, do everything else first, then release the F-18 :(
  23. I am sure we will get there. Need stability and a nice FA-18. Then I will come back in full force. Right now, I am xboxing lol.
  24. If the next DCS product from ED is not a DCS Fighter Jet, I might go live under a rock. Come on. We have the A-10 and Ka-50. I love the Su-25 in FC, and I would not say no to a DCS version, but come on. Why dont we just call it, 'DCS:A2G Don't worry about bad fighter jets coming for you'. Priorities please. Let us get a sample of different aircraft before repeating aircrafts with the same roles. Broken record repeating myself... stop.
