You will see improvements I'm sure to missile modelling etc in DCS at the same time we will get new modules. I agree with Witchking. Voice your concerns. ED are listening. Don't feel cheated though. This is a very complex undertaking. To develop combat flight sims is a lot more difficult than a first person shooter. ED could have left the old SFM for missile, instead we have AFM to look forward to, even if it needs lots of work.

All I see are requests for: - updates to Mig29 - updates to Su-33 - tank simulator - the next helicopter - the next WWII plane I would like all these things as well, but when exactly does everyone think DCS F-18 will be released if ED are busy doing all these things? I realize there are things that can be done in parallel, but surely not everything can be. Of course we all have our own preferences, and there is nothing wrong with that. Me, I want new terrain and a DCS modern jet. I want it before I have arthritis from old age and can't play flight sims anymore. Make DCS stable in MP, fix most bugs and move on please. Again, just my opinion. Of course 3rd parties will go a long way to help us all getting something we want.

That's okay. Let 12 yr olds have the joy of getting to know this sim/game. Let adults that have no time learn, first learn in game mode. More sales = more money for DCS sim or game. Once a sim mode is made, adding game mode is just an option. Nothing wrong with options even if you don't like it. Others may.

Simple. Regardless of what you have paid for in the past, if more work is put in to something to improve it, then you need to charge for that work and make a profit. You don't work for free or at a loss! I think people are thinking that since they have a version of the F15 and Su27 they should get a deal on a new F15/Su27. I have a 2006 Dodge Charger, and guess what, I can't get a 2012 Charger for free, or at a deal because I have a 2006 :) Buy it if you want it. If you think they are charging too much don't buy it. You just voted with your money, and no need to guess at what they charge.

Yes, A2A Combat! I just want DCS A2A combat to come, then work some more on FC3, or FC level aircraft. It will be great when we can have DCS Su-33 on the Kuznetsov versus DCS F/A-18 on the Carl Vinson. I am not complaining anyway. What we have is great and only better is to come.

Again, this is tough. You know the whole idea of FC3 was an issue for me as well. If there was no FC3, perhaps F-18 would be out. Now people want more and more work on FC3. I say, fix bugs, no new features for FC3 and move ON please. Don't get me wrong, a DCS Su-33 would be to me a thing of beauty :)

You can't please 100% of the people 100% of the time. I'm sure if they could, every single aircraft in FC would have AFM and new models, and F/A-18 would be out. As much as I like the Su-33, I would rather ED move on to new things. If they keep going back to FC to improve what's there, we will never get anything new. Perhaps they will be able to go back and give the Su-33 some love at a later time. For sure get the udpated model for Su-33 by combatace.

We all have our preferences and opinions, and yours is as valid as anyone else's. However, I don't know what DCS module, if any, is your favoroite. For a Modern jet fan though the number of DCS modern jets = 0.

I think the future looks good. I know ED are doing what's best, but just to play devil's advocate... heck, why not make a game similar to Air Combat 5 for the PC to generate funds. Why not just make a First Person Shooter? I think the answer is you can still make money in a niche market. People will pay for what they want. I like what is going here. ED have a passion for Flight Sims. That is why they are not making an Aircombat like game or FPS. You could wait for a DCS level fighter, with nothing new while you wait, and no funds for ED. Even better though is releasing things like AFM for F-15/Su-27. The work can go towards DCS F-18, it generates funds for ED, and something new for us while we wait. It is a win-win situation for sure. The wait is still hard though :)

Great post Matt. Thanks. Can't wait for the future. Please do not be discouraged by the posts here. The idea of more public updates is a good one. All in all, this thread has not really turned in to a flame war. People just expressing their opinions. Your clarification was a result. All good.

Good post Lucas. Pointing out that things can be developed, then used in the future. Means that it will all go to good use. Also get the benefit of less wait. Not a bad strategy after all. As long as it goes to a MODERN JET FIGHTER I'm good. Alll those asking for maps etc. please consider us jet fans that have squat in DCS. I will buy incremental upgrades to aircraft. Some may feel it unfair that you are paying for upgrades, but at the end of the day, you are paying for man hours of work, regardless if it is a complete module or an upgrade. I for one will pay if it is of value to me.

This is a repost of what I posted in the 104th forums. Keep in mind, I am a huge ED fan, I appreciate all their work, and this is just my opinion. Regardless of reason, it is disappointing to me. ---------------- I understand that less work means quicker release and an earlier revenue, but nonetheless, this is so disappointing to me. Not to mention, the plan is to release these before F-18. I always wondered why they can't just release something to A10C detail level, then just provide the game option for those that don't want the steep learning curve. Now I see it is to generate revenue more quickly by turning out a module with less detail and work. I wish this wasn't necessary. I understand economics should be the driving factor. In fact, I almost wish no one would buy lower detailed modules or FC just so that high detailed modules were released only. It is a niche market for sure, and that fact sucks hard. Perhaps a highly detailed DCS module should go for $100+ and if it sold the same quantity, all would be good. I don't know. ED knows best what is best for them. All I want is a modern fighter, preferably multirole, simulation to the level of the great work ED did with A-10C before I die!!!! The wait continues...

You have just convinced me, since a lot of work is done on the Su-27 already and that the ground radar would not have to be modelled, that a Su-27SM should be the very next release by ED for DCS. Back to the one that got ED started!

While I would personally rather have a DCS F18, a F15 and Su27 with the current assests in FC would probably come much quicker. That is a good thing. A DCS level F15 and Su27 by ED. Who in their right mind could have any complaints! Can't freaking wait. Hopefully they will release at the same time for ful DCS DACT.

Let's hope so! DCS: F/A-18 will be the pinnacle of flight simming in my opinion. It has been a long wait already :) I don't want to dwell on this though. ED are obviously very hard at work, and I appreciate their efforts. Eventually we will get there.

I am the first to say, why is there no mutil role jet in DCS? Why are there these other projects coming out first? At the end of the day it is ED's and 3rd parties decision to make, however. I just hope it is the right one for them. It is not my cup of tea, but all the more power to ones that will enjoy this work. Have fun. I am jealous and waiting.

Unless LEAVU was updated to work with FC3, it won't work. AFAIK Yoda has no plans to update it.
