Nice stuff guys! Bearitall love your use of the playseat (i've got one too) and like your wireless mouse and key (have that as well) a great blue tooth set. Can't wait to see your new setup.

That's true but since your screen seems to be about 50" bigger its probably more an issue. And since my room is 8' deep from wall to screen I can't scoot my simpit back any farther anyways! The sofa behind me gets in the way! It's a tight fit but a lot more room than many get to themselves (your excluded lol), going to miss this space when we have more kids! -
Seems to be working now LOL!

I've been thinking about switches and the associated costs, if we can get a few of us together we might be able to order from a source with a bulk order on basic switches and maybe a smaller order on some switches that are one off. Here in California we have a huge electronics store called Fry's that carries virtually everything you could need at reasonable prices (two way mom on-off-on mini toggles were $3.49ea) the downside is that the store is sometimes picked over and you're lucky to get enough to make a panel. That said if we ordered from a source we could probably get toggles at half that price but we'd have to order at least 100 of one type. In a nutshell it really comes down to how accurately you want to make a simpit, accuracy has a price and generic lets you tweak the details to fit your plan or budget! I'm going to buy a Leo Bodnar board next to re-wire my rudder pedals, can't afford simpeds and the saitek combat pedals are over priced especially for lack of hall sensors. If I do this right I'll have an extra 32 inputs from that board for panels. These controllers are relatively cheap too which is good since I don't have disposable income anymore.

Nice work, wish I had a room that big. In my front bedroom mancave I use a first surface mirror to get a little more throw distance. For those that have small rooms and want a proj. setup you can easily find first surface mirrors in old proj. TVs. Wish I could have a bigger room like yours for movies if nothing else. I can't really complain though as I get roughly a 100" image in only a an 8'x10' room and the throw is on the 8' width. I don't know if I could sit that far away from the screen, but I know how proj.s go with your head getting in the way. -

I too have a BK and don't fly without it anymore Sov13t's response sums up my feelings. My solution Vullcan is use a USB headset in addition to the sound card. I run all game sounds through the card and all comms thru the headset. If you have an analog headset picking up a USB adapter could help It does take some time to tweak sound settings and speaker settings on different games since all programs are different. The best sims that utilize BK are prop sims but DCS sims work well too. Il2 is great, you feel the rumble of the engine, firing cannons, flak, enemy fire, etc....... In any case two sound cards seems overkill, of course any USB sound device will be seen as a second card anyways though. EDIT: Attaching one to your sofa for movies is AMAZING too, I have to say this is where the BK shines. A good blu ray with 5.1 and BK is an experience, you feel like your landing on the beaches in Saving Private Ryan. -
LOL Sounds like your relived! I'll keep an eye out for a nice soldering station for you too, we come across a lot of Metcal and Pace units that are pretty nice (heat up in seconds).

I know first hand what a PITA that is, save some for me if you want some help. I wouldn't be able to make it over until this weekend though.

Guess I'll be talking to you shortly!

Most the stuff is FSX specific like: Switch Panel LCDs Not sure about the Warning Panel these do ship with an SDK from what I understand but re-inventing the wheel is probably not that easy. The mixture panel is supposed to work with all sims according to the site. You probably have to look at each product individually to determine if it will work with FSX only or all software in general. The way I see it is that Saitek is really aiming more for a piece of the FSX hardware pie than sim titles in general. If you look at all the high end commercial a/c controls and hardware out there they have a really accessible offering in terms of price.

Thats very cool I'll have to look into these in the future! Now has anyone figured out a way to mod the TrackIR trackclip pro so it runs off batteries? EDIT: NVM I just learned to read (hookd 0n fonix werks 4 me), thank you for the detailed response had no idea they made battery packs like that! EDIT2: Does the trackclip attach easily? With room for adjustment? -
Dead link? Came up unavailable.

Maybe it got siezed by Somali pirates, might require a Merc sortie on shipping!

^+1 On the man cave status. Its a chore just to install sim software not to mention re-installing/re-programming multiple controllers into said software. This is my pit issue at the moment coupled with finding time to do it then more time to actually fly! Although I prefer my multiple controllers and simpit setup complicated I do remember the days of just having a keyboard and joystick and how simple it was.

I'm pretty sure its all for him, when one HOTAS gets sweaty and sticky he moves to the next pit! But seriously Hannibal that second HOTAS is clearly defective and I'll take it off your hands at half the MSRP!

No no send me the stuff man, I know you much better anyways!

It does happen though with the occasional random player. As for missions I think most keep them under wrap because this is still beta and sure you can release them but they'll be useless at the next beta build (or could become useless).

An understanding supportive wife is what every simmer needs, we already know Walker450's history lol. Luckily I have a cool wife too that wants me at home and not at the local bar or strip club!
