  1. Nope we have a spare bedroom for baby and if my room is threatened I have the garage as a fallback. I don't really have a plan for my pit so to speak but I do have a plan for where it goes!
  2. Nope never really started on anything pit related but I have added new pc.s to my exsisting one but not much. I'm still aiming to build something though work and family have kept me away and now my wife and I have a baby on the way. Can't wait to see your build progress as the hog is my favorite too!
  3. Rocketeer great to see you around again and congrats on the new house. Look forward to sharing ideas with you and flying too. If you have a chance get on TS with Cat and I. I'm sure he'd like to hear about that CNC class as much as I would!
  4. Wish they made it USB (maybe they do). I like to play my sound through 5.1 and comms through my headset. It gives that realistic sound effect that way. But its a nice pc. of kit for sure!
  5. Thats flippin awesome! And you have a laptop that can run BS lol!
  6. That's an awesome gear lever on the first page!
  7. Thanks for the input guys any additional feedback is appreciated too. I'm still leaning towards the X-Keys boards because of the ease of use. I not interested in learning a programming language and I know two of you that posted have X-Keys already with no complaints. Hagstrom's sounds good but I think I'll be happy with 256 switches XKeys offer for $120 rather than 288 with the hagstrom at $160. I know I could probably wire switches to the tune of 288 but its just a little overkill for my projected project!
  8. Just to reply to the first question of this thread: NO Not getting bored still just getting started, but personally for me its not just missions its also about flying. I'm as happy blowing stuff up as I am just taking off and landing.:pilotfly: To each there own though!
  9. Well I'm not going to build a faithful recreation of an A10 or KA50, and I've been looking at the X-Keys Matrix as a input solution for my pit project. Currently I'm looking at the USB 128 unit and was going to ask for 2 from the wife at X-Mas. But first I wanted to consult with the pit masters here and see what their thoughts were. I like the X-Keys for the number of inputs as well ease of use and programming as well as price (can get 2 128 input boards for $120). But it never hurts to ask if there is something better out there. Basically I'm going with a generic pit design that will fit a number of a/c and sims like IL2/Rise Of Flight/Black Shark and obviously DCS A10! That said most switches will be toggles or rotary switches. I may decide to get more creative as I gain more skills but do you guys think the X-Keys will be sufficient? Should I look into other options? Anything particular about the x-keys that should make me stay away from it? Anyone have some experience to share (Cat I can talk to you on TS save your typing fingers lol)? Thanks for any and all input (no pun intended)!
  10. Great to see progress been following your project for some time. Keep up the great work!
  11. Yeah that really helped me when I first saw this as well as the other Cyberberkut linked! I really preferred the original SST software design to the new one. It was just nice to click on the button you wanted to program!
  12. I have a 100 inch image with only ten feet of throwable distance. I got over the room limitations by taking the "First surface Mirror" from an old rear projection TV and bouncing the image off it. I cant stress what a big deal a projector makes on gameplay and sit. awareness. Its great to see the progress CrC, really wish I can afford some time in this hobby lately but now with a kid on the way looks like more ideas will be on the back burner.
  13. I think he mentioned a while back that he was moving. I miss his updates too, hes really got some great ideas and skills to share!
  14. Whats the devil in the details? I'd be interested but I'd like to know more, where you live? How much do you want? Whats shipping? I live in Northern California in the states.
  15. Great work! If my list of other important projects ever goes away I'd love to start on a proper pit!
  16. I'm sorry, I don't want to be seen as dissing Saitek since I am the proud owner of the X52, Rudder Pedals, Pro Gamer Command Unit and Aviator products. I'm not dissing this stick either, just voicing my frustration with Saiteks marketing plan. REPEAT not saying its not a good stick just not what I THINK the community is looking for. Just seems the stick is limited by available software for force sensor stick aircraft too.
  17. I have to agree. I was hoping for an alternative to the logitech FFB and we get this. Not listening to what their customers wanted is going to cost Saitek this time. Unless they're working on a FFB behind the scenes......... heres hoping. I like the logitech setup except for the pedals, I could just not use the pedals but it would be great to use them with my old X-52 HOTAS seeing I'd still use the saitek rudders.
  18. Yeah and thats what disturbs me. I thought it was a couple years back we were begging saitek for a FFB hotas and we get a FSB one instead that really only applies to Falcon sims right. At least as far as I know thats the only realistic sim that would apply. I was hoping this would be an answer to the Logitech stick? Maybe we're reading into this wrong and it is a FFB stick, we shall see......
  19. LOL no worries Alex, now if they only made Kung Mao Shrimp! LOL, Wait they probably do! The Chairman Mao discussion or Triggers pit lmao (no pun intended)!
  20. Lava, good read and take on it. Given you've been talking with Cat are you on the Merc Teamspeak often? If I ever get the chance I'd like to pick you brain about it that way I know the differences between it and the upcoming saitek FFB HOTAS! I don't want to commit to FFB until Saitek release's their model!
  21. OK Cool I just couldn't see it earlier! Nobody ROFLMAO's quite like him!
  22. Srry Alex just joking, I'm not that ignorant just like to have fun with people! Good thing you don't live in the Soviet Union like the days of old. In soviet Russia you don't drive car, car drives you! I totally understand with the system I think a lot of good can come from it but I also believe the same about our system (same with the bad respectively in both cases). But right Trigger's the man here and we're going way off topic but I still hold my picture as relevant if not funny! LOL And what happened to the picture? Was it removed, NP either way but usually theres a note.....
  23. Well I guess this sorta appropriate then. Sorry couldn't resist.
  24. In my experience error is 99.9% caused by the operator. The other 0.1% is the rare exception to the rule. Companies do screw up and sometimes a bad apple is in a batch of products. Most of the problems (very few at that) with my saitek gear was caused by me not setting something up correctly or the like. But thats not to say problems don't come up or they don't exist so hope you work your issues out emenance!
  25. I do have one but I've modded my AV8R to be a collective control (see respective thread here) and the commands are all collective related, so if your using yours as a stick it wont apply.
