^^I agree with your view Pogo. A LOT of people picking this sim up want to take to the skys as fast as possible and blow stuff up. Everything else is for the hard core sim heads. I always like the way Dart puts things into lay mans terms for any sucker to understand. Yes, his approach to the sim isn't exactly right (depending on your opinion) but is honest and serves a good purpose. If anyone is helped off the ground by this article (say the intended casual simmer type) then thats a big plus to DCS, the community and said casual simmer. In a way it might open up the other finer aspects of BS and could result in a new proper study sim fan. Great article! Remember right or wrong hes just trying to point out the things you REALLY need to know.

Saitek SST software / AV8R problem
HitchHikingFlatlander replied to Bucic's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Have you tried to switch it to left control? Worth a try can't remember if DCS rctrl/lctrl is specific or not but in most other programs you can use either ctrl button. I've programmed the AV8R with SST as well and haven't had a similiar problem. -

Who cares about the monitors with frames? Not the only monitor made and think of the implications if you use a projector! -

FS: HD Projector for all you cockpit builders.
HitchHikingFlatlander replied to Buznee's topic in Home Cockpits
Oh yeah its def. worth it! My comment about be wary needs clarification I'm wary of buying used systems even though that's exactly what I've purchased in the past. The difference was they were bus. class models, worked and were cheaper than the price of their respective replacement bulbs. And I mean cheap as in impossible to pass up! But damn you still have me wanting it even though I can't have it (financially). -
This is where you convince Dad to start a father son project! LOL and try to get him to pick up some of the cost. My luck will be that I'll have kids who hate games and sims! You guys could build a two seat apache pit for bonding when finished (and DCS Apache is released)! Oakes great work can't wait to see more you have a lot of talent and patience.

^Yeah I cant wait to see the A10 starting to re-think my multi role pit and building it myself you have a full set up there for under $1K thats pretty impressive by itself, then you have the pit itself which is a work of art! @Bearitall - Love the playseat hoping to turn mine back into a racing chair someday with a G27/G25!

Suncom now thats t!ts right there man! I showed a guy who'd never seen simpits my set up the other day and then proceeded to blow him away with everyone elses simpits. Still wouldnt mind tearing apart a suncom but now with two FFB HOTAS on the market I can probably wait and see how those pan out first.

Man I'd love too but short on cash right now and to be honest I'm wary of buying a proj. unless its really cheap (like the others I've purchased). Gotta say thats exactly what I'm looking to upgrade to though as my current proj. maxs out at 1024x768 res and isnt HD. -
I have owned a Buttkicker Gamer and have to say "ONCE SET UP PROPERLY" it literally knocks your socks off! But like I said you have to tweak audio settings and some buttkicker settings to get the right feel from it. Tweaking is pretty basic though and not difficult in any way. That with FFB HOTAS and TrackIR is flight sim heaven right there!

HOTAS Logitech G940
HitchHikingFlatlander replied to Sokol1_br's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Be nice if CH products would make a FFB set up with FFB pedals not to go off topic. Actually the same for all major HOTAS makers, most of these companies although having proven products that deliver, haven't updated their product lines in recent years. Obviously Logitech and possibly saitek are a couple that have but then again have the big budget to go on. Guess I'm rambling..... -
where are the REAL pilots of dcs black shark?
HitchHikingFlatlander replied to Bee_Sting's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Yeah an In game voice option would be great if it worked well. And it could be realistic to a degree using the radio channels as they should. -
Brilliant idea there I envisioned something like that for a gear up down lever. I'll try and take a picture of the Projector Mirror set up I was talking about so you can get an idea.
-
Damn dude! Great work, I'm loving it and you have your displays going apart from the projector. How did you end up getting the ABRIS/Shkval and game image on separate screens as I intend to do the same thing. I also run on a projector in a small room and I noticed you can benefit from a larger screen (bigger projected image). Find someone thats throwing out an old projection Television (one with a mirror inside). Then take it apart and get the mirror out of it. Take the mirror down to a glass shop and have them cut it to 1meter x 1meter and mount the mirror on the wall behind your projector. Now turn the projector to face the mirror and adjust the mounting bracket to focus the image. After that all you need to do is change the settings on the projector to reverse or mirrored mode! If you want more advice on how to do this let me know I'll be happy to help! I just know, by playing on a projector myself that you'll want to maximize your image for optimal vision and gameplay!
