  1. Is $500 USD confirmed now? I figured it would be in that range 4-500. Given the recent trend in high tech HOTAS's.
  2. I understand that, just throwing out some info on USB devices and powered/non-powered hubs. Not trying to go OT.
  3. For the record most devices prefer powered hubs. I have 4 & 7 Port powered hubs and never have any problems. Think of just plugging something USB into your PC, the PC is providing power to that device. All these controllers are dependent on that provided power so USB hubs need power as well. I have every device I own plugged into the two above hubs: X52 Rudder Pedals AV8R Pro Gamer Command Unit Wingman 3d Trackir Shuttle Pro V2 Headset and still have a few extra ports left......... (future improvement!) From there all that connects from the hubs to PC via two USB cables. The powered hubs are just extensions of the USB ports on the PC!
  4. Don't think it will work but I'd for someone with more know how on the Suncom to chime in.
  5. Very cool Memento impressive work!
  6. Its hard to pass up off the shelf solutions LOL at least in my case! But if you do end up building these things you'll be the rudder master around here it seems.
  7. That sucks man I really wish I could give some ideas but my X-52 has been very good to me. I've had some issues but mine always ended up being operator error and some funky USB connection issues due to the use of USB hubs. It really is a great stick for the money and hope the newest one works out for you. If you do have to get something else I recommend waiting for the Thrustmaster A10 HOTAS which could be the best HOTAS anyone has seen in a long time (we just have to wait and see).
  8. ^Whatever works for you, I find the Pro Clip works better for my needs (I sit much further away from the camera than most) the LEDs really make that difference. But further with my Pro Clip and headset slaved together there is no more embarrasing moments answering the door with the Hat Clip! That alone for me is worth it, I'm a nerd no doubt but I try to remain cool nerd!
  9. Almost better than a HOTAS and Rudder pedals! Almost.....;)
  10. Very cool I use a Saitek Pro Gamer Command Unit myself, mainly for the PVI-800 commands. I've been thinking of replacing that with a USB external Number Pad.
  11. I think its probably important to keep in mind that its not the DCS Black Shark PCIP resource but DCS PCIP resource. That said it could be after a few DCS titles that we see this. Hopefully sooner though. BTW I'm purely speculating.......
  12. ^LOL Seriously!
  13. Taken from his post at the Saitek Forum: Dear all, Sorry for my bad english. I did my best. Ive got a Logitech Extreme 3D Pro. This unit is 5 years old and i was looking for a decent replacement. While im flying Lock On Flamming Cliffs i was attracted to the Saitek X52 serie. Reading all negative threats about the X52 and the X52 Pro made me some kind of "nervous". 120 euro's for the X52 and 160 eruo's for the X52 Pro are tough prices. I went to the Aviation Megastore in The Netherlands: http://www.aviationmegastore.com/, near Schiphol which is 20 miles from my home. Overthere they have two demo untits, the X52 and the x52 Pro, placed on a shelf so you are able to look at them and feel them. The looks are stunning! Truly said, only for the looks you want it on your desk. But then....i grasped the X52 stick and moved it around. It felt light and the movements were smooth. But immediately i noticed something else that worried me big time. I felt a huge movement in the stick while it was centered. So i further investigated the stick. What is did was as follows: When you look at the stick you see the base. Out of the base comes the shaft with the spring around it. Between the sping and the base is a metal ring (X52 Pro, the X52 has a plastic black "ring" underneath the spring). I put two fingers on each side of the spring to hold tight the metal ring. In that way i fixated the shaft. Then with my other hand i grasped the top of the stick and moved it. There was about 4mm margin in all directions while the shaft was fixated with my fingers. That means that the stick was loose on the shaft...Both units: X52 and the X52 Pro had this problem!! Beside that i let go of the metal ring and again i moved the stick. There was 1 cm margin on the whole stick in all directions while it was centered. Again both units had this problem. In my opinion can only be explained due to very bad internal contruction. There must be slack between parts that result in such free movement. in the base. But hey...this cant be normal i thought. I asked if they could open up a new unit fresh out of the box. They did, i felt again and hell yeah....same problem as the demo units!!! As you can imagine, i left the aviation store with empty hands, drove to the closest PC shop i bought a new Logitech Extreme 3D Pro for 35 euro's which doen not have the margin problem. It lacks all buttons and leds but hey...i must be very accurate aiming unguided rockets on a sam unit 4 miles away or dogfighting with the canon. Im not going to say that everybody experience the same thing as i have. But its something you really should notice before you buy a X52 ot X52 Pro because its a lot of money. If you buy it in a store, let them open up the box and feel for yourself. Maybe you'll allright with it, maybe not. In the latter case you are lucky to experience it before comming home and be disappointed big time. Saitek, you just lost a customer regarding the X52 and Pro. Im still flying Fs9 with the Proflight steering wheel, rudders and two extra USB throttle quadrants. They work nice and easy but youve lost me with the X52's. It would be nice if you would respond to my experience. Grtz. B. -END- Hitch And correct me if I'm wrong but the X-52/Pro are the CHEAPEST HOTAS's you can buy that compare to the likes of CH, Thrustmaster, Logitech, or even the new SaitekX65.
  14. Yes the X-52 has a little play in it. But I've had my X-52 for years with great performance and don't feel disappointed at all. Actually, in its price range their isn't a better product to be had with the feature set it has. An X-52 will kill a Logitech Extreme 3D Pro any day of the the week. It sounds like you didn't even get to test the HOTAS while actually hooked up to a PC. You can't accurately test a HOTAS if it's not even connected. And even if it was remember that it was a test/demo model that MANY different hands have touched. I think you need some more testing before you make accusations the X-52 isn't a good stick. No offense but this post as well as the Saitek forum post smells a lot like trolling........... But hey to each their own as I always say but in this case you should probably keep the opinion to yourself until you get the facts straight.
  15. 1x2 and 2x4 just sounds cooler dude why do you ask those questions? Seriously though that is a philosophical question thats been asked since the dawn of woodworking and lumber yards. I know there is a logical "carpenter's" answer to it I just can't remember. Maybe someone can fill us in! I don't think I've ever finished any singleplayer missions yet alone a campaign all my flying is online even when I'm by myself. Anyways look forward to seeing your progress.
  16. I think someone here has asked about this and you'll find some of the info in that thread. If the thread isn't on the first page here someone will probably chime in and point you to it!
  17. Yes they will, just make sure engines are at idle and probably a good idea to reset the trim system.
  18. Glad to see you're back at it I get a lot of ideas and even more inspiration from your projects! Congrats on the new job and home!
  19. Hey I can see the point in having an A10 HOTAS before any A10 software comes out. I'm getting sick of having my Spaceship X52 (regardless if it works great and has been good to me). Personally I'd use this A10 stick for every sim I fly including Black Shark and Rise of Flight. Using a specific stick for non specific sims is no different than using an X-52 (or any generic HOTAS/Stick) for a specific sim anyways. It wouldn't hurt anyone to have this A10 HOTAS released and I'd like to have it in my hands sooner than later!
  20. Speak for yourself LOL! I hope this new stick comes out soon and I hope I can afford it and a new PC! I know how you feel, I'm constantly one step behind in PC gaming.
  21. Well I haven't just not had a chance to wire up a matrix board, I haven't had a chance to learn HOW to wire a matrix board either. Just need that ever elusive free time. Then I have to split the time between freestlye BMX riding..........
  22. Thats really cool man keep up the good work! Great to know with my first kid on the way I have some free child labor coming!:devil_2:
  23. Thats pretty neat how are you planning to add tension so the collective stays where you leave it?
  24. I'll definitely let you guys know on the XKeys as I have the 128 encoder. I just haven't had a chance to make a matrix board and test it out yet. LOL I need to get busy as soon as I have the time!
  25. Do you have the X-52 plugged into a non powered USB hub? I've that problem with it before, since I play from a simpit.
