  1. we got a winner over here! its odd though because it was the mig28 furball mission and you start out in a hot pit, must've accidentally turned it off? looking back at the footage my IR/TV switch was also off, so i dont know what was up thanks though!
  2. Don't think it really matters whether or not you have a lock though right? They come off the rail active either way if the target is within 10 nmi. I guess with a lock you have a guarantee that the phoenix will see its target
  3. So recently my friend and I were playing a mission together in the F-14 and we wanted to use SRS. We connected to the same SRS server of some other multiplayer server, say the 104th Phoenix SRS server for example. But we couldn't hear each other, even though we were both hearing the radio effects every time we keyed the mic Do we have to set up our own radio server or can we connect to one thats being used on a completely different game server?
  4. Occasionally, I can't pick up any targets on radar, even when I'm scanning at the right altitude and they should be right in front of me. Any idea why? I will post a video link later showing a scenario where this happened to me
  5. If an AIM-120 is fired in STT, will the enemy get a launch warning?
  6. You must maintain a lock on the bandit until the phoenix goes pitbull. Its not like the AIM-120 where you can split-s and the missile will go pitbull by itself. The phoenix needs to be commanded active by your aircraft's radar Flipping the ACM cover puts you in Boresight for the AIM-7 and AIM-54
  7. you cant use an aim54 in pulse stt, its gonna go active off the rail. AIM54 can only be guided in PD-STT and TWS
  8. doesnt the same happen in pulse doppler search as well?
  9. So I guess since it's not good to switch radar modes while guiding the missile, it's better to start with P-STT so you can't be notched
  10. ok cool and if set to NORM at launch, switching between PD-STT and P-STT wouldn't matter?
  11. How do you know when the missile goes pitbull?
  12. And what if SP PD is selected, but mid guidance I switch from PD-STT TO P-STT? Will the radar switch to CW guidance?
  13. I'd like to bring it to your attention that the clicking logic of right click up, left click down is reversed for a bunch of the controls in the rio pit, some of them being: MSL OPTIONS switch (left vertical console) MECH FUSE switch (left vertical console) Station 8 select switch (left vertical console) middle row of switches on IFF Transponder Control Panel (right side console)
  14. Agreed, some aspects of the manual are either not fully explained or ambiguous.
  15. So from my testing, boresight mode puts the AIM-7 into flood mode and the AIM-54 active off the rail. Flipping the acm cover simply forces you into boresight mode with the sparrow or Phoenix selected
  16. AFAIK, you don't have to be ready to press the SEAM button as soon as you hear a tone, you can press it a bit before because SEAM stays on for 4.5 seconds and if it detects a target while its on, it locks on
  17. . Yes more accurate to remain static
  18. has the double d scan pattern for the sidewinder been removed? my sidewinders in normal mode do not scan in a pattern anymore
  19. I was wondering if ED could add some option so that the way cockpit buttons move based on left and right clicks was consistent across all modules? For example, just got the F-14 by Heatblur and right clicking moves switches up and left clicking moves them down, whereas in the A-10C and TF-51D it is vice versa. I understand that since Heatblur made the F-14, it was their decision to make it this way but is this something that I should be asking them for? Or is there some way ED can force it to be consistent for all modules?

    Roll SAS

What is the purpose of turning off roll SAS for combat?
  21. What is meant by "on-speed aoa"?
  22. If you break lock before the AIM-54 goes pitbull, will it steer to the last datalinked target position and go active like the AIM-120 does? Or is it a wasted shot?
  23. I can confirm that they work but no indication
