"(not UH-1H, but the D is more or less close to the H)" The H is just an up-engined D, same hull so it will pass as a good "fakey", and since we don't have all of the H model's avionics it's pretty damn close in other regards!!

Anyone else hopping on ED forums and scrolling right down to this thread before all others? Hey, y'all just do what y'all need to for getting us a thoroughly enjoyable Scooter experience. We'll wait patiently like we do for the rest of the mods/modules!! ~Rob

yeah, you just punch in a start WPT so you can return home, then select #2 and put in your IP, then in slot #3 you put in the attack WPT. they get entered as lat/long - degrees, minutes, tenths of minutes, 40-21.3'N for example. Once you have them in all you have to do is punch the corresponding number on the number pad to home on it. Lemme know if this works for you. ~Rob

Yeah, that's unfortunate. I would have loved to have seen the Buc here. -

** DCS: F-14 Development Update - September!! **
Robert31178 replied to Cobra847's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
So I had seen the A-6 vid on my phone a few times, but just watched it on my desktop rig with big monitor and I'm pretty sure I lost my mind. Exciting stuffs!!!! Heatblur rocks!! ~Rob -
I have never flown anything in my life, although I would love to. I prefer the Huey over the Gazelle because it is more enjoyable to fly. I've never been one to hotrod helicopters around, that's what jet fighters are for, I've always enjoyed the the challenge of flying things like warbirds and helicopters well. The Gazelle is very easy to fly provided you fly steady with a light hand, the Huey however is very tough to master, not only the flying of the helicopter as just flying it, but the mission sets are tough, sling loading for example is difficult and even after flying for 3 years I still am never perfect with the a load under me.

You have to set it in the nav computer, then set your heading line source to "wpt" for the artificial horizon heading line. You can actually plan a route in the computer, I do it sometimes to see how it goes for me since the Gazelle doesn't fly a straight line very well. If you need more detailed instructions I will happily post them for you! ~Rob

I do, I love flying Huey and Gazelle, looking forward to many more helicopter modules.

Hey, with the weather did you have an overheating jet pipe? Just last night I was talking ot a good friend who used to be a crew chief on Pave Lows. He said that they couldn't start in a tailwind if it was too high, I wanna say he said 10kts, because the exhaust wouldn't leave the pipe and you would overheat your turbine. Maybe that's a real thing in DCS too?

link or post pics please? I don't have FB

https://www.lonesentry.com/blog/k-14-gunsight.html I recalled it being a bit different and did some digging. The above link gives a detailed description of the site, below is one of the pictures. I recall the pipper looking like this is Jane's WWII Fighters and IL2 as well, so there must be something to it. Be really neat if a subject matter expert could weigh in here!

You can, jus like any other DCS aircraft, provided you have it in the correct location. C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta\Bazar\Liveries\uh-1h

You know what would be really helpful is if someone could make a mod similar to Quad's controls mod, but instead of the controls it shows the EGT temp gauge. Not sure why Bell decided that some of the more important gauge needed to be the smallest gauges, but there we go. Either a separate gauge mod or maybe even something as simple as a better, brighter marker for the yellow portion? The gauge unless zoomed in on it is hard to read, maybe that's some of the cause for the repeated postings? I find myself having to "zoom in slow" at times, which does nothing for my hovering. With the "yellow" temp market being as small as it is it's tough to tell exactly when you're in it. Seems very easy to be either in the green or in the red. Anyone up for this?

Yep, essential if you use force trim.

Trev, if you overanalyze the movies then I'm afraid I'm going to have to put you on report lol...... :music_whistling:

Thank you Fence. Been saying the same thing on a couple different threads in this section. Between me, you, and the 229th guys maybe we'll get through to them eh?

Shag is right, a running take off, as it is called, is the only way to get a loaded up Huey off of the ground. I've weighed in a bunch on this, and even though I'm not a real helicopter pilot I feel qualified in speaking here by virtue of having flown the Huey damn near exclusively for close to 3 years. Twice. That's the number of times I've EGT'd. One of those was more or less on purpose. My flying habits didn't really change on the Caucasus map post EGT failure implementation, I always flew 50% fuel, mini's on the doors, and flew within published torque limits. It's a bit more challenging on the desert maps, but you can use it!!!! Yesterday I flew an op on the PG map with my new unit (yes Blackley, it's me, Gunfighter). Good morning gentlemen, the temperature was 110 degrees.....I flew with 50% fuel and mini's in the doors, per usual. I was able to make 75kia consistently, moved crates via CTLD by hovering over them at our required height of 12-29ft for 10 seconds, went and picked up two pilots, and I was able to not smoke an engine, nor did I feel the need to run a repair. Every time I turn around someone is complaining about EGT limitations. Listen, it's flyable, and to be frank I think it's better now than it was because the bird has limitations that must be observed, where before there were NO consequences for bombing out carrying a red line for torque at 125kts. I've learned, after experiencing my only actual surprise failure, that if you just fly like you did previously, and instead of first looking at your torque gauge look first at your EGT, then you'll be fine. You just have to trade some fuel for cargo/weaps. While I agree the EGT failures are over modelled, I think this is better than before. ~Rob
