  1. How do you get kinda for the UH-1H? Deliveries starting in 1967.... it absolutely was used in Vietnam extensively.
  2. As noted above, link no longer works. Will the author please provide another for us to DL this beautiful skin?
  3. I really enjoy this pack, and since ED broke the Huey skins I use these instead of our squad skins until stuff is fixed. Thank you for the awesome Huey paints!!! ~Rob
  4. On the contrary Woogey, I have it and rarely fly it. As an aviation enthusiast it's in my top ten gen II or newer armed jet aircraft, but in the back half. I personally was very disappointed to see that although the Tomcat rose to the occasion as a bomber, and even exceeded everyone's expectations, and in many cases the abilities of aircraft designed specifically for that role in Serbia, that the Tomcat never really vindicated it's entire reason for existing in the first place - fleet interceptor with superior maneuverability. Tomcat should have had more kills than Hornet. I realize the USAF had more chances to engage the Iraqi air force by virtue of their geographical position, but it bums me out that Tomcat didn't get in on the action. My comment was only to remind you that the Hornet gave a good accounting for itself in the a2a arena, and continues to prove that is a very capable high alpha fighter when it is configured for the role of "fighter plane", similar in many regards to the Viper.
  5. Right after I wrote this I was reading some more and found this incredibly accurate quote.... "Don’t mistake performance in a specific scenario for overall capability. An F-1 car is incredibly fast, but that doesn’t mean you’ll be able to plow your field with it any faster than you would with a tractor, or even an ox for that matter." Perfect.
  6. Ok, a few things Mirmodon... It's reported/speculated that Foreman may have been drugged by someone in Ali's employ, so the fight wasn't fair most likely...... While the Phantom was a turning brick it did have one thing going for it that no other war plane in the world had - HUGE amounts of thrust. When you get into the Have Donut program you see that the Navy's F-4B could hang with the MiG-21 of the day. They were similar in rate of turn and acceleration, but being a delta wing the MiG-21 was at disadvantages in lower altitude engagements, fight below 15k feet. The F-4 was at it's best around 450kts, and could create vertical separation that the little MiG just couldn't. Use a lag pursuit to saddle in behind and outside of the MiG. These techniques came from the USN fighting captured MiGs kept at Point Mugu, and also from them collaborating with Israelis who had a shitload of experience fighting MiGs, pretty much they went to the IAF and said "teach us how to use our own jet". It's true, the real turning champ was the MiG-17.....in that era. Put it against a Zero or an Oscar and it'll be at a distinct disadvantage in a turn fight and would have to switch to maneuvers that warbrids don't do well, like maneuver in the vertical plane, which brings us right back to why the Phantom whipped that ass once they figured out they couldn't turn with it. I keep pounding the table with the old "read this book!!"....so here we go again. Robert K. Wilcox, "The Scream Of Eagles". It's all about the USN standing up Top Gun, and how the core group took the Phantom from being a plane almost worthless as a fighter and turned it into an absolute menace for the VPAF. The USN finished the conflict with a 12:1 kill ratio, which actually is closer to 25:1, but someone managed to get busted right before the conflict ended, messing up their stats party a little. the USAF didn't want to take the lessons away with all of the Have Donut/Have Drill info and maintained a solid 2:1 right through to the end. Even Brig Gen Olds flew in the Have programs and reportedly got waxed a bunch and was just frustrated whit the whole thing and refused to listen to his USN backseater. The Phantom could tangle with the MiG's, it just had to fight to it's strengths. I know everyone here already knows that, but everyone seems to forget it in these discussions, claiming that one plane was superior to another, so here's my list as I see it from all of the info I've read through: MiG-21 - stay slow, high, and turn the shit out of it. You're hard to see. F-4 - Stay fast, don't try to turn inside of a MiG, lag pursuit until he makes the next move; fight in the vertical with your superior energy gaining capability.
  7. I don't think it's hard to compare warbirds to "modern" jets at all. Each has it's own set of problems to tackle. Sure you don't need to keep an eye on your systems when flying the Warthog, but the prudent pilot does..... Are the systems on warbirds simpler? Yep! Easier? Not necessarily!! I've been flying warbirds for YEARS now in sims and had no problems adjusting to fully functioning Spits and Mustangs because I knew the systems. Um, the weaps employment on the Warthog was another issue all together, I'm amazed at how all of you are able to memorize all of the steps necessary to fully and capably employ that jet and others with modern avionics / weapons systems. I have a friend who is a top notch Warthog driver, and he tells me about how intuitive the systems are, and I'm like "hell, it's 40 steps to get the damn thing started!!"......so easier is a mindset in my opinion, it's all in what you are used to. I found myself gravitating towards Huey because of it's simple systems, stuff I could easily grasp, and 3 years later I still fly it almost exclusively. The rest of the things I have that I enjoy are pretty much warbirds with jet engines it seems like. Sabre, F-5, etc.....
  8. An A-6 with no map would also be fun
  9. Woogey, have some respect then when you let that slide out of your sound hole :-) The legacy Hornet had more A2A kills than the Tomcat did, and one of the times where the Hornets got it in real good they had Tomcats escorting them. Legacy Hornets will likely have more A2A kills than super H for the long haul, unless we manage to have another conventional-ish war.
  10. Mr Peterburs looks like a meanass. I wouldn't mess with him!
  11. I like the skin, but I like the story even better!! I had never heard this before, thank you for sharing. ~Rob
  12. Yes, and that's why I said "come back here and apologize". The problem isn't the module, it's the user.......
  13. Yep! Good old fashion airplane flying. If you want to do it the right way you beep the trim button and then fine tune with the throttle. I've been flying this plane for a long time and that's how I learnt it.
  14. How was it? One of these my sked will line up and I'll be able to fly one of these as a Huey driver for you guys. Looks quite fun! ~Rob
  15. There are flyable F-4's, we just need one to be "lookatable"......
  16. I wanna say I read somewhere that with the new engines if you lost one the thrust would be so much that the rudder would not be able to arrest the induced yaw of the one engine in burner.
  17. Yeah nah. I was told yesterday what the issue was with the shiny Hueys by someone in the know and it's a fairly simple fix and they just WON'T for whatever reason. It's a shame, really. I mean, I know y'all are busy with your flagship Hornet, but hell take a second and fix what y'all broke with the Huey?
  18. I love a good Kev2go crusade!!!
  19. Whoa Steve, don't forget the CEII :megalol:
  20. Well that just made the Kfir mod more attractive.....
  21. Robert31178

    UH-60 mod

    What cockpit will it use?
  22. Yes, and the Bo-105.
  23. Hilarious
