It might be outdated in the present day but it would actually fit the current aircraft timeline that are present in DCS some of which are much older than the 1990's.

The C-130 is one of the few transport aircraft that has been an actual work horse in many military conflicts. However one conflict in particular where they were used heavily was in Vietnam. Check out these videos to see just how much action they saw in Vietnam. In the first video in particular at 11:30min.

I looked into this and its actually one of the best Throttle Quadrants out there for the money. It can be customized plus it also feature extra switches and levers that can be assigned. This would definitely make flying a C-130 more realistic.

I understand that the Cessna 172 would be a great aircraft for beginners to start out flight training with. However I can't realistically see it coming to DCS anytime soon as a stand alone module unless a private party were to contract ED to do it like how the Yak-52 was done. However I would very much like to see ED implement a flight training program to mimic as much as possible how the military would train new pilots. It would be great to start off with the Cessna 172 then move on to T-34/T-6 then T-45/T-2 or TH-57 for those interested in helicopters. With the OH-58 Kiowa now in development it would be great if ED is able to work something out with the 3rd party so that a TH-57 variant could be made so that it could be included with the DCS free download. This alone would pay off in the long run because it would train many new and experienced fixed wing pilots to fly helicopters that would lead to more helicopter module sales.

I think that once MAC launches with the planned content and it does well, ED might consider adding expansion modules that include the map plus the related aircraft used in a particular scenario. A Vietnam expansion module would be a top seller for sure. It would be perfect for those that just want to jump in their favorite Vietnam era aircraft of choice and just do a bombing mission run.

I always remember this airplane from Mad Max. It was in one of the most epic scenes in movie history.

I was inspired to start this new tread after watching this new DCS fictional movie that perfectly captured the action and feel of a Vietnam scenario in 1969. This is exactly why a Vietnam map has been at the top of my list even though its not from my era. This is also why I am also eagerly waiting for an F-4 Phantom and the A-6 Intruder.

I just saw this great DCS movie that depicts really well the feel a Vietnam map would have if it were to exist. A Vietnam map would be my most favorite scenario to play in.

I got an even better model kit for you that you can also fly.

It all depends on RAZBAMS availability to dedicate time to developing another variant and if they even have the required clearance and license to be able to do it. Also keep in mind that RAZBAM has a lot of other modules that are currently in development and planned. These are a few of those other aircraft in development or planning stages. F-15E Mig 23 Super Tucano IA-58 Pucara AMX EE Lightning Sea Harrier FRS.1 Mirage III (or) IAI Dagger (either one, not both) Dassault Super Etendard

I had read a reply from RAZBAM on their Facebook page a few months ago stating that the AMX, EE Lightning and Sea Harrier can be expected after the F-15, Mig23 and Super Tucano.

NEEDED - Second most successful jet fighter in history
Evoman replied to rkk01's topic in DCS Core Wish List
I had read a reply from RAZBAM on their Facebook page a few months ago stating that the AMX, EE Lightning and Sea Harrier can be expected after the F-15, Mig23 and Super Tucano. I suggest keeping tabs on RAZBAMS FB page for the latest info. When it comes to Russian aircraft there are a lot of restrictions on the newer aircraft or anything post 1970 from what it seams. ED has stated that their could be a glimmer of hope with the Mig-29A if things work out with the necessary permissions. It is what it is regarding Russian aircraft. If you don't like it then take it up with the Kremlin. -
ED has stated that they are in the process of changing the free aircraft that come with the DCS download. All they have said in the matter is that they are looking for aircraft that would better attract new comers to the flight sim. And since the F/A-18C was developed in house it would be a great candidate since it would not be too much work to feature a full fidelity F/A-18D trainer variant with limited weapons functionality to be included with the free download. But a fully functional version could be available for extra for those that want it. The only other two seater naval trainer jet would be the T-45 Goeshawk.
-
I am sure most will agree that there is a need for a better training program within the free DCS download that would mimic the training one would go through as a new military student pilot. However from my understanding most student pilots are now trained on the T-6 Texan II and before that on the T-34 Mentor. So either of these aircraft should be the ideal starter aircraft that ED should be considering being part of the training program. By the way the young student pilot in this video went on to fly the P3 Orion.

Have you even taken the current AV-8B for a test flight when ever ED has had the free to fly events? In my brief time with it in free to fly event I found it too much of a work load to just get it up and running and to take off. After that I was kinda disappointed that it really was not as fast as I thought it was. The only other Harrier variant in the pipeline is the British Sea Harrier FRS.1 for use in the upcoming Falklands map. By the way here is the latest update regarding the south Atlantic map.

The Yak-52 was done because ED was contracted by someone to make it for them. And as part of the deal ED would get the rights to include it in DCS. The Christen Eagle II from what I understand was done as a passion project because there were a already a lot of devs and others within DCS that were very familiar with the aircraft. So a Cessna 172 is very possible IF an independent party with the required licenses on hand were to contract ED to do it.

I also think that the Cessna O-2A Skymaster would not only be more interesting but would also be very useful in future Vietnam scenarios. The Skymaster is one of those unsung heroes from Vietnam. See the video below to see why.

Would you be willing to buy multiple F-4 modules?
Evoman replied to upyr1's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Modern flying computers make flying and acquiring targets easier but there is a trade off just like everything else. Check out what the IAF top Ace Col. Giora Epstein with 17 kills says about modern fighter jets when he transitioned from the Mirage III / Nesher to the F-16 @42:37. -
Would you be willing to buy multiple F-4 modules?
Evoman replied to upyr1's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Look at what a former F-15C fighter pilot has to say about flying the F-4 Phantom. By the time the F-22 is retired and de-classifed for it to be possible to be considered for DCS it would probably be considered museum tech by then. -
Glad to see that there are more people that truly understand the requirements and complexities to realistically bring an aircraft simulation to DCS level quality. I would also add as an example the development of the P-47. There was a big challenge to do it due to the lack of data that was available for the P-47. "Following the war, all wind tunnel and needed flight dynamics data was destroyed. To overcome this, ED used Flow Vision to recreate the needed data. This has proven a long and expensive endeavor. However, to create the detailed flight dynamics that DCS requires, we consider it mandatory."

A simple search turned up this other thread on this very same aircraft that was last updated not too long ago. https://forums.eagle.ru/topic/191856-cf-105-avro-quotarrowquot/?tab=comments#comment-191907

Integrating the highest quality mods like Community A-4 into DCS
Evoman replied to HWasp's topic in DCS Core Wish List
I concur with this. That is why it is encouraged to at least do a simple search for other related topics before anyone starts a new thread. The answer may have already been given in one of those other thread discussions. Another topic that ranks at the top that keeps coming up that has been talked about countless times is why is there not more modern Russian aircraft. -
Integrating the highest quality mods like Community A-4 into DCS
Evoman replied to HWasp's topic in DCS Core Wish List
In a fairly recent interview with ED they did state that they have really been looking into changing up the aircraft that are included with DCS so that they are more appealing to newcomers. In my opinion one of the ideal starter aircraft should be the T-45 Goshawk. -
This is the second thread I have seen on this very subject. I totally agree that the Naval operations needs to be improved and expanded. The main issue is that DCS already has most of their resources tided up in with what they do best which is aircraft. I recently saw the game play demo for a new Submarine simulator that is under development called Modern Navel Warfare that is light years ahead of what ED would be able to do. The developers are actually looking for a producer or funding to get this project going. So this would be a great opportunity for DCS to collaborate together to bring this great submarine simulation to DCS as a module. That way ED does not have to devote too much of their precious time and resources to expand Naval operations in DCS.

The T-45 Goshawk would be the ideal aircraft to be included with the free DCS download. That way new comers to DCS can start training landing on carrier decks and thus resulting in more interest in buying the Naval modules. I hope some things could be worked out with ED to make it happen.
