I have been flying the Blackshark since it came out, and the Huey,, at what point would you consider the prompt evasive maneuvers I have been successfully doing the end of the walking phase?
-
I hear what your saying, but its not all about just trying to come in for a casual landing or smoothing out to a hover. I dont see much discussion about instances when your moving along fast and need to make quick and aggressive maneuvers. I have tried to make aggressive moves while the stick is set pretty far forward in trim because your cruising along at 125 knts. Its not pretty, and you dont have time to gently keep tapping the trimmer to make corrections,, it gets out of control real fast! Again, high speed maneuvering is what im talking about, not, OH LOOK ,, theres a FARP over there, lets float in there and land.
-
Yeah,, I watched that,,, works great for coming in nice and smooth. I commented in there to show us how to go from cruising along at 125 knts and suddenly getting wacked by enemy fire and you gotta bank hard left 90 degrees low and get behind cover real quick in a near hover state! Show me that with tapping the Trimmer and without Trimmer reset and I will start buying into the lack of a need for Trimmer Reset! I can do the above in the Black Shark and Huey without even thinking about it with trimmer reset.
-
Im sorry, but when I hit "Trimmer Reset" in the BlackShark, MI-8 and Huey, my collective goes to dead nuts back to centered no matter what I have it trimmed at prior. In other words, it goes back to the same neutral position it was in when I hopped in the pit. I have no idea why you think it doesnt?
-
"The key for me was getting those dang controls returned to center before manipulating the chopper." And thats what the Trimmer Reset does for you in the other chopper we fly. I see alot of chatter still about SETTING the trim, but the main issue is coming out of that set trim and returning stick back to neutral.
-
"If you press a trim reset while you’re trimmed for 130 IAS the aircraft is going to nose up to the moon." Of course you will IF you dont apply some pressure in the direction you are trimmed at before you hit the Trim Reset,,,, work's OUTSTANDING in modules such as the Huey for example.

Thanks, and yes, I am referring to the button that "Sets the Trim".

@dburne This thread is getting to be a little difficult to follow all of the variables,, Im curious, what were your original settings that you were struggling with and what did you change them too? Do you have center spring stick and pedals? I ask because the pic that was posted doesnt match its recommendation to remove the trim feature on the pedals. I have been setting my cruise trim in every helo I own for years and I reset the trim in flight when I am about to land or whatever, and it works great! You do this and you can slowly ease the pressure off the stick and rudder and it smoothly goes back to center position like it was before you took off. Of course, if you hit the reset while your moving fast, and you dont put some pressure on the controls before you hit the reset, you will loose control. This offers much better control then what we have in the Apache. When I am trim set in the Apache, and want to slow down, I have to slowly move the stick back towards its center position (and it fights me all the way) and slowly start tapping the trimmer release to set the revised center until I coax it back towards its actual physical center (or there abouts).

add wp to route How to get new WP to show on ALPHA list?

OH MAN,, thanks,, I was working on that for quite some time! Thanks alot! -
I have sifting thru the vids and manual, cant figure out how to get a newly created WP03 to show up in the ALPHA list so I can do a "Direct Too"? I know I can do a Direct Too it by placing the curser over it, but Im thinking of an example case where your like 30+ miles away from it and you dont want to try and find it on the map, you just want to select it from the list and Direct Too. I was hoping it showed up in like the Bravo list etc, but it doesnt? I even tried to use "L3" on the coordinate page, but that didnt give me a Direct Too either?

What your describing isn't the primary issue. Setting trim initially is not the problem, Re-setting it to land (for example) is, as Dburne has described. No means to neutralize the controls without guessing where to reset too.

Thanks,,, nice work!

I dont know if I would say its stupid? I think there are alot of people (like myself) that simply fly on Multiplayer servers. Enjoy!

OMG!!! I hope Casmo clears this all up sometime soon!

I am not looking at it from a "Joke Perspective" out of all honesty. Its real as far as I am concerned. There is a heck of a lot to the Apache systems compared to any of the other modules. It would be great to have a list (if you will) derived from ED's perspective as opposed to bits and pieces scattered about the internet. If I were to look up "Brevity" for example, I would find more than you would want to know scattered about, and you would also find conflicting ones as well (ask me how I know)! I suppose one could do an exhaustive search on the internet for these acronyms specifically for the Apache, and Im sure if you did, you would find some inconsistencies within. I was just reaching out to find if one already existed, especially from ED's perspective, to save the struggle, thats all. @Vakarian Thanks for the tip, very useful contribution!

Per Wags suggestion from the latest Mini Update "That’s it for now and don’t forget to study your acronyms.", I have searched the FAQ and the forums for a DCS List of Acronyms for the Apache, is there one or do I need to scour the internet? Thanks,

Im all for fixing it, Im not sure they will even if deemed broke. If it is in need of repair, what can we do about it if it falls on deaf ears?

I think most people would want to fly it even if its broke, and they are told its broke LOL,,,, I know I would like to dip my toes in the water now. Jus sayin,,,,,

Eh,,, was wishful thinking,, another contender in the ring would have been great! Thanks for the response.

@Tim_Fragmagnet Thank you for that!

OMG,, LOL,,, now wait a sec,,, so I have tried many times to fly the Huey with the ball centered, especially at high speeds, just so I could make it as efficient and fast as possible. I always found myself flying kind of sideways when I get the ball centered,, felt awful! I eventually gave up that practice and ignored the ball. So ignoring it as I have is the best thing to do under current conditions?
