Thanks for the clarification! I'm soooo looking forward to getting the default crap-slew out once and for all. All the kudoz possible to you for making this :)

Ordered! Just outside of the June batch tho, aww :) Just to double check, does the analog ALPS have a "button" when depressing the stick or would one need to install the extra button for that? Tech spec. on the stick says it has center push but was unsure if its enabled for lack of better wording.

think of it like being a counter to a simplistic damage model instead of being "realistic" and your day will breeze through like butter ;)

Warthog is as good as it gets button mapping/layout wise. The stick base and gimbal is however pretty so-so compared to other brands, so if you have a large budget I would by a TM WH HOTAS-set, unscrew the A-10-grip, throw the base out (or go through some hoops buying only the throttle and grip) and then go for a Virpil T-50 base. A-10 grip fits without any adapters and is miles and miles and miles ahead of the TM base. VKB has a few bases as an option too if you live in a region where they are available (which in reality means not Europe) but needs an adapter to fit the A-10 grip.

For DCS my TS use is about 0. If we look at Arma3 however, things are the exact opposite - I couldn't play without it due to radio mods like ACRE2 etc. Looking forward to see the changes!

Tried this mod out, after packaging it for OvGME, for about an hour during late:ish dawn in-game (~05:45 May 30) on PG. Target spotting on ground and VID:ing stuff in air is easier, so is spotting details when in the groove for example. Great job, this is now added to my permanent must-have-mod-list! :D If placebo was called on that specific example, fine. If it was called in a broader sense that the tint change itself is placebo I'd like to call you on it sir :)

DocSigma: I was under impression the TACAN bearing on the HSI was to the carrier from your position, not the heading the carrier is traveling/BRC. no?

As a base multiplayer service like many other online games provide you for free ... yeeeaaah, I'd have to say yes to that question :) I'm not even sure how you fit "everything" in there. What we are requesting is a server with minimal overhead and not a client we "hack" like we have now. Although I don't currently play that many different games I can't think of one single title on top of my head that would make you pay for a server. Even games that you can't put up your own server for provides servers for you for "free" (included in the game cost or however one would like to look at it). If there are any that you need to pay for, feel free to tell me and I mean that in the purest sense. Again, not sure how'd you fit "everything for nothing" in there but each to his/her own. It's not like we haven't paid anything for the title/titles? :)

As long as a dedicated server gets released I don't mind if it windows or linux-based. I would assume it would probably be windows based tho due to the code base, just a headless client more or less. Example: Arma3 dedicated servers (including both the good and the bad with their linux based server which basically results in that you will run it on a windows server to save you some _serious_ head ache). Paying for a dedicated server in any way (except for the actual physical server costs): absolutely not. not even maybe, in any form or shape. The pure fact that we don't already have this AND server owners needs to pay for maps is just ... mind boggling to put it mildly :)

Wonderful news!

MP has always, not maybe on paper but through their actions, been one of their lowest priorities for as long as I've been flying DCS. I would very very VERY much not hold my breath for any kind of changes in either their actions, priorities or how things are working for atleast another year or more likely two. And also, imagine the shitstorm if maps all of a sudden was released for free when all the current server managers paid for them, especially when we talk in a 1+ year perspective when additional maps might have been released. I just don't see it ... and I'm a MP-only player. :(

New to VR - Can I use Oculus Rift on DCS using Windows 8.1?
TheBamse replied to Rudel_chw's topic in Virtual Reality
Absolutely. I use Win 8.1 and haven't flown 2D since I got my OR ... which is coming up on a year now or so. Oculus desktop App does not require Win10, but the new dashboard does. This does not affect the ability to launch and play the game. -
Bought mine early 2016, still works 10/10 even tho I've been quite harsh to mine (accidentally, repeatedly ;D)

GAU-8/A and MK108 Shell tweaking/modding
TheBamse replied to DirtyFret's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
Thank you so much! Haven't tried the effects but installed it via remote control on my home-pc (at work at the time of writing this) and game starts just fine. Again, thanks! <3 -
GAU-8/A and MK108 Shell tweaking/modding

Sorry for dragging this thread up from the dead, but has anyone gotten this to work with 2.5.x? As a small report I get a hard CTD when I try to load this mod, after the loading logo and just before the main menu GUI should appear. Just ordered the VKB-SIM T-RUDDER PEDALS MK.IV
TheBamse replied to Dav IRL's topic in VKB-SIM Flight Gear
Unless something extraordinary happens I'm done ordering from the European website. Communications historically have always been atrocious and about a year or so ago when I finally decided to order a pair of Mk IV-pedals after exhausting all other options they sent my pedals to another person and I got his warthog adapter :P Luckily the other person was in the same country so I contacted him directly (the address was in the enclosed order confirmation) and sorted it out that way. I get that mistakes can be made and all that but on top of the extremely slow communications it just didn't feel like they wanted another customer so I just turned elsewhere for my sim:ing needs, without any drama. It should be noted that I was compensated €2 on top of the domestic postage cost, so all good! ;) -

Unable to Stow boarding ladder after 2.5.1 update
TheBamse replied to SandMan23's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
DS has been deliberately forced to a always on mode without an option to turn it off. It's not a bug, check the release notes :/ -
I can't even start to express how much I +1 this. The fact that we have to pay to be able to provide our different communities with stand-alone servers just show how low multiplayer is and always have been on EDs radar. Please change this and please do it long before the elusive dedicated DCS server gets released. Proposal: if options.graphics.render3D = false, the please allow any map to be installed. If it's set to true, disallow any use of maps other than Caucasus.

I'd say the opposite when it comes to being narrow. You can, if you want to altho I don't see why you'd want to, sit with your legs very close together and find good purchase, but since the "pedal" is a bar you can manspread quite a bit and still find good purchase ... and even if you go full-on teenager to prove me wrong you would even get nice control if you just used your toes on the edge of the bars :) Im fat and I don't even have somewhere near an issue of very comfortably operating the VKB Mk. IV-pedals. If it comes down to a persons like or dislike of helicopter styled pedals ... well, that's a different story :)

Zoom in VR is found under "UI Layer" -> "toggle VR Zoom" and as the names says it is a toggle so it needs to be bound to a button, not an axis like the regular zoom. It's a sucky option for us VR users but better than nothing :/
