by that logic, any war-based game is a trivialization of war itself. the real test is what the game or simulation intends to do with the subject. take for example, medal of honor, which covered afghanistan. it received acclaim and praise. then there were the numerous allusions to the war on terror in the call of duty series. once again, endless praise and huge numbers sold. then a company decided to do, with urging and consultation from real marines who participated in fallujah, a game intended to depict those events and the emotions surrounding its participants and it got shot down by the media simply because it was about the "unjust" war in iraq. also, the americans already made films about 9/11 and iraq. are films not for the purpose of entertainment? again, the focus should be on the artistic merit, not the subject matter itself. basically, the whole argument about recent conflicts being taboo is in fact one huge joke and people need to stop giving it any credence.
anyway, i doubt chechnya would be viable. even if it was made, the lack of data would surely make that piece of terrain indistinguishable from the rest of the caucasus.
