  1. Man, I wish you all possible success. I would love to fly this!
  2. Yeah, I just had to remap for my Hornet, because it wouldn't read my old joystick config after a fresh install. I really don't understand why DCS gives a ratshit about the USB registry address. There are better ways of doing things.
  3. Meh. The only reason I fly DCS is for the complexity, fidelity and challenge of the modules. Otherwise, there are a tonne of other games out there with dynamic campaigns, far more variety in vehicles, etc. The one and only thing DCS actually has going for it is the quality of the modules.
  4. You, sir, are an evil genius... emphasis on the evil.
  5. My .02 is the Mi-8 is the nicest to fly, but for now I prefer the UH-1 on the attack, of the two. I don't like the Gazelle flight model much, and the shark's systems aren't that bad once you get the hang, although I admit I still don't have all the nuances of the autopilot down...but anyways, I like the UH-1 and Mi-8 both. I got the Huey first and its simplicity helped me focus on the flying, but if I could only have one of the two, by a slim margin I'd go Mi-8. I think.
  6. FYI my friends and I just tried a number of multiplayer launches on the persian gulf map and we kept dropping into the sea, everything correct. In single player with same settings and loadouts we launched with ease. It seemed the catapult wasn't giving us sufficient takeoff speed. We tried on 2 seperate servers so that wasn't the issue...we are continuing to try to isolate.
  7. Huh, do those thumbsticks slot into the slew position? With the squarish profile I was assuming they went somewhere else... Oh, and at the risk of patronizing people who already know, if you're worried about drilling your anything, dimple your center with something sharp, and start with small bits and work your way up to size...
  8. I think you're just going to have to start making the whole shebang. I'll start designing my dream HOTAS and send you the drawings xD
  9. Even weirder, my updater seemed to freeze at an indicated download rate of 10kB/s, but in performance monitor, there were 2 DCS updater processes downloading from 2 distinct IPs, and one was downloading at >100kB/s (yes, I have rural internetz...)
  10. Yeah, I wouldn't count on more realistic, coming at you through a computer, being easier than it is now... We are handicapped in so many ways interfacing through our computers...we need some simplifications in order to compensate.
  11. I couldn't finish downloading, my drive is full :P...my open beta is something like 144G o.0 A lot of lovin'
  12. Have reproduced. My friend really didn't like me locking him up as he attempted a Stennis recovery. I even switched my radar off and it would still show the flashing box in the HUD sometimes.
  13. Yeah that one is finicky beyond all recognition, especially with my TrackIR settings. A wise friend suggested you rotate your knob before you select the stations that you intend to jettison, so an accidental button press doesn't do anything.
  14. It's a bug because in the axis settings, a positive press gives a negative response. All the axes have a slider bar in the main menu that indicates travel. It's not an issue with the peripheral interface, but a coding issue within DCS...just like the graphical representation in the axis settings is also a bug because inverted or not, it gives the same Y value representation for a given pedal position. Just because it's a persistent bug that ED hasn't gotten to, doesn't mean it isn't a bug...
  15. On further inspection it seems a higher altitude may also be required, I couldn't reproduce the bug near the ground, but it appeared above 8000. Q.E.D.
  16. Sound bug Popped my canopy for fun in the first training mission, and above an IAS of 560 the sound starts to stutter. Not the most pressing issue, I know xD
  17. Weird though, I have a buddy who is already installing the .17978....
  18. Yup. It's all us greedy Hornet buyers breaking the servers. Wait, wut? It says the version is UTD. Skatezillas utility couldn't find an update either. 2.5.2.17559.377 is the UTD version of Beta?
  19. Yesh, ED servers are not handling the load well. I get authorization errors too, 503, and then the module won't download citing the version being unavailable even though I'm UTD. Maybe tomorrow, then.
  20. Bah, it will probably suck... *chuckles*
  21. I would guess you have a corrupted file, try repairing DCS?
  22. Arrived. Installed. Joy.
  23. Yeah, I liked the cam too. Even if it's unrealistic, in every sim there are such gross inaccuracies due to the limitations of the interface, like we have no sense of balance or movement, no peripheral vision, no ability to quickly flick our eyes from one location to another and focus near instantly, like in RL, that I have no problem with some augmentations that mean the *result* is more similiar to RL. We are flying half-blind with no real feeling, we need the extra help to get halfway decent results. In RL we could have spotters or co-pilots who could *intelligently* guide us on target, nevermind feel the movements of the helicopter in order to stay ahead of it, and not get as disoriented when we changed views.
  24. If only the voice prompts didn't make me homicidally violent, this would be fine. Also, using the cargo view, I couldn't actually see the cargo I had slung, hanging steady.... :<
