That would be incorrect, and ignorant of the reasons why Caucasus was chosen/made in the first place. It's based on the 2008 timeframe, for obvious reasons.

Well, it's simply really: either we have visors for every single module, or we have to set a different gamma value for every module and for every change in lighting conditions (day/night, flying above clouds / below clouds, ...) The entire point of having visors is being able to set gamma at 2.2 (the default for DCS *and* the industry standard) and forget about it. And it makes it so we have proper colours in the cockpit instead of them being washed out. I 100% disagree, but that's ok. Because ED chose to overexpose the cockpit view, visors allow us to have consistent colour representation inside and outside of the cockpit. Well, yes exactly. That's the point - in daylight conditions anyway. Yes it does exist, and visors in the game work in the exact same way as sunglasses (or dark visors for motorcycle helmets) do IRL, for exactly the same reason: to severely reduce sun glare. It improves contrast and allows you to see more clearly. (And it makes clouds more defined and thus more pretty - same as sunglasses and dark visors IRL)

Bug bombing in Mission 7 or it's me ?
Raven (Elysian Angel) replied to pbt31's topic in DCS: F-16C The Gamblers Campaign
The entire idea of GPS-guided bombs is to still be able to hit the target through cloud cover. The alternative is using Paveways, which won’t work through clouds so you’d have to go underneath - exposing you to all sorts of nastiness such as SHORAD/AAA. -
Suggestion: Su-25A Full Fidelity after the MiG-29A FF?

No they aren’t: See here: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/news/2025-01-31/ -
Suggestion: Su-25A Full Fidelity after the MiG-29A FF?
Raven (Elysian Angel) replied to R_0xD's topic in Su-25 for DCS World
It would be, if the flight model was up to PFM standards - but it isn’t: it’s “just” AFM so would require quite a bit of work. And even then both MiG-29 and F-15C already had PFM and still require (-d) further refining. -
You can’t have both, unless you expect ED to rework the entire lighting system again - basically undoing everything they did since 2.7 And that would force 3rd parties to rework their cockpits too…

Dassault Rafale Full Module
Raven (Elysian Angel) replied to Colonel_paz's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Shorter range than either, for starters. But it should be a very capable weapon system. -
Mountains! Valleys!

This is very good news!

Absolutely! I recently completed Baltic Dragon's 'Georgia War' campaign again, first with the FC3 F-15 and then with the F-15E.... Oh boy what a difference, especially the radar

They already did, by making an imperial MiG-29. So ED did this to themselves.

Congratulations! Take all the time you need. We'll see you when we see you

When you do, keep in mind that DCS’s wingmen don’t know the difference between ‘nails’ and ‘spike’, and will (incorrectly) call out ‘spike’ when it’s actually ‘nails’.

I have no idea if this works (I don’t use a M$ account), but you could try using a little programme called HID Hide. I use that to prevent other games setting my flight sim peripherals as default “controller”. Basically you can make whichever peripheral you want invisible to all but the programmes you select yourself. I’ve been using it for years and years, and it works brilliantly for games etc.

Updates for 2025/2026?
Raven (Elysian Angel) replied to Raven (Elysian Angel)'s topic in F/A-18C Aggressors BFM Campaign
Much obliged! -
Perhaps ED is waiting for the new damage model to come to fast jets? This is purely speculation of course, but it would explain their apparent lack of progress in this matter.

my TRP Pedals have gone completely crazy
Raven (Elysian Angel) replied to F1Rocket666's topic in Installation Problems
Yes this is due to ED's annoying habit of automatically mapping your controls without asking for your opinion/consent first. It is a great feature for new players, as it helps with onboarding, but it is seriously annoying for the more experienced virtual pilots who have a lot more controls than simply stick and throttle. SharpeXB's post above mine is what will fix this issue!
