Holy Crap! I wonder how long it will be in Pre-Purchase. I'm genuinely super excited for this. I REALLY hope the engine simulation is a big step forward for DCS Props. I have a feeling the CE2 won't be far behind!!

Improved stability and dedicated server - Discussion
Xordus replied to NineLine's topic in Multiplayer
Personally, I'm just glad to see this dialogue happening. I've been wondering for a long time whether or not MP was ever going to get the attention it deserved. I'm really glad to hear about the DS and I'm glad Nineline made a snide comment that got misrepresented, because it spawned an actual conversation about the future of MP in DCS. -
I doubt the TGP will be soon. It seemed like they were gonna do the FLIR overhaul for the release of the Targeting Pod. I really hope that's what they do because then they'll have an impetus for finishing the overhaul. If they just put it out now with a pledge to update FLIR I fear it will be shuffled to the back of the priority list.... A true FLIR simulation is vital to the future of this sim.

CubanAce Simulations Forms a Team

This is good news! Glad to see you step back into the Octagon. It takes balls. Good Luck Sir. -
We're not signing up for bugs this critical to sit untouched for months upon months... This is just bs. I guess it doesn't affect enough people for RAZBAM to consider it worth fixing, or even acknowledging...

Should pilots be punished for using the G-Limiter override leaver ?
Xordus replied to Shadow KT's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
It does seem a bit strange atm. Since there are no repercussions it seems you should just tape the button down... -
Red Flag Rumble July - AV8B + Viggen vs Mig21 + F5
Xordus replied to 104th_Maverick's topic in Tournaments & Events
Xordus - Viggen This is a seriously cool idea. -
After running mission 4 in the Museum Relic Campaign I noticed that the triggered Hydraulic Failure during that mission didn't seem to have any effect on the Sabre. I then created a mission to rule out a campaign bug, I set Hydraulic Main, Alternate, and Utility to fail. Nothing At the debrief screen it shows that these events did occur, the Hydraulics did fail as far as the game was concerned, but I got no reaction in the cockpit. The gauge didn't change, the ailerons still worked normally, the Hydraulic Light didn't even come on. If I'm wrong about this, please let me know. Otherwise, please fix this stupid bug. This is beneath BST...

reported RWR not showing locked radars in Search mode
Xordus replied to Aries144's topic in Bugs and Problems
I just have to say, the F-5 is already a tough aircraft to fly in modern MP; this silly RWR representation just compounds its weakness. I don't think this plane needs to be arbitrarily nerfed... -
reported RWR not showing locked radars in Search mode
Xordus replied to Aries144's topic in Bugs and Problems
I didn't even realize the Search function excluded locked radars. I wondered for a long time why they disappeared. There's just no way this is operated correctly, why in the world would Search mode exclude a critical threat?? It's obviously aware of the radar lock, but just decides that you don't need to know about that because you're in "Search Mode"?? I refuse to believe Northrop would include such a useless system. As far as the RWR tones are concerned, I'd LOVE to see that implemented. The RAE mod is amazing but limited in compatible airframes. DCS suffers from an incredibly simplified RWR system although Heatblur did put some extra effort into the Viggen. Until ED actually implements Radar Beams that sweep and return decipherable data instead of checking a box, RWR and EWAR will remain woefully inadequate toys. Right now we just get some math that says, is there a target somewhere in this cone between x and y altitude: if yes show the plane's info on the radar screen.... There's more to it obviously but it's not reading a return based on a beam's reflection. Hopefully the Hornet is going to significantly increase that complexity. If so, maybe we can expect some realistic approximations of RWR/EWAR in the future. -
We're really lucky that this plane exists in DCS, and that it exists in such high fidelity. DCS is proving to be headed in a direction that caters to the big name, the Icon. The F-16/F-18/F-15. It's so refreshing to get a module that expands our horizons and isn't devoted to kill-count on a MP server. I really want to see more aircraft like the F-5E, the MiG 15, and in theory the Hawk. The Super Tucano is a great example of a really cool, lesser-known plane coming to DCS. I just hope devs keep making stuff like the A-6 Intruder as well as the obvious modern juggernauts.
-
This is exactly my point. I love that we have RAZBAM working on cool planes and I buy their stuff, but the F-15??? Really?? You're going to take one of the absolute most iconic fighters in history and give it to RAZBAM?? What a terrible idea... I honestly thought it was a joke when they revealed 3 MORE PRODUCTS. This just guarantees that one of the greatest planes is going to be a mediocre module, stuck in EA for eternity, missing key systems, with other systems underdeveloped, lacking adequate damage modeling, and with virtually no system failures. Not only that but it guarantees that the jet will be a side-project like all their modules. They have too much going on and this plane DEMANDS a Developer's full attention. This is why I'm grateful Heatblur is doing the F-14. They've made it very clear that the Tomcat is incredibly important and they will not be distracted until it's completed. It's the absolute opposite approach from what RAZBAM has demonstrated their business model to be. I have no problem with RAZBAM doing lots of little modules all at once (Tucanos and MiG-19's), but this is a U.S. Generation 4 Fighter with incredible complexity, the same kind that ED spent 6 years developing. I have NO faith that RAZBAM is up to that challenge. I do not want to see the Mighty Eagle dumbed-down like the Mirage in order to fit their business model of quantity over quality. I'm really hoping I'm proven wrong...

Yea this is still a problem for me too. The cursor will only move if you barely move the stick, if you jerk it to 100% left/right/up/down it won't move, it just sticks. It's REALLY annoying. Maybe in 6 more months the most obvious and ridiculously basic problems will finally be fixed..... I'm done trying to mess with the Harrier for a while.
-
Yea, I love the way you incorporate so much radio traffic and force us to switch around. It really adds to the feeling of actually taking part in something rather than just playing a mission. Really impressive so far.

Radar Antennae Elevation and throttle setting issues
Xordus replied to Spike (Zivi)'s topic in Controller Questions and Bugs
Yea I'm also trying to figure out why this is still screwed up. Every other plane in DCS uses the Dial for Radar Elevation. It's incredibly annoying having to adjust to a different way of operating the radar for a single plane and then going back to the normal method for every other aircraft. Please make Radar Elevation work properly with a Dial like every other plane in DCS!!! -
Right now every other Radar Elevation control in DCS works as a dial. They work rather well, they're very intuitive and extremely accurate. The Hornet's Radar Elevation is the complete opposite of EVERY OTHER control scheme in DCS. That's obviously pretty stupid as it's preferable to have as much continuity between planes as possible. I set flaps, gear, TDC, Trim, etc... all to the same controls on different planes to help get over the adjustment period from plane to plane. This is not only terrible for that reason but it also makes the dial, which most people set aside for this use, completely pointless. I just thought it was because it was Early Access but they've fixed the TDC slew and lots of nagging control issues, yet this remains. Are they really going to make us use a different control style every time we switch to the Hornet?? Please ED, take note of how Radar Elevation works in the Mirage and F15 and then fix this bs.
-
holy that looks cool. I didn't realize they were going for such a high-res image. Man, when this jet is finished and they have a new version of FLIR and an A2G radar and a semi-realistic IFF (I'll be much older by then) it's really going to be a whole new ballgame.

I bought VR and a Samsung Ultrawide 3440x1440 at the same time and although VR is fun to use, if you're really serious about DCS you may be disappointed long-term. The resolution is the main problem (its truly terrible) and the HMD's aren't exactly comfortable for long-term use. If you like to fly for multiple hours you may experience fatigue or even some queeziness. If it's such a big decision you may want to take this into account. Many people will tell you only the positives of VR and omit the many negatives... My ultrawide gets far more usage in DCS these days and basically fits the mold of multi-monitor but without the drawbacks. If you can get both, you should definitely get VR also, the experience is amazing, if you can't I suggest getting a nice Ultrawide with high-resolution.
-
Man, it's pretty annoying. I have a Subwoofer and the sound is produced in the low frequency range so it sounds sorta like someone beating on your wall... Only happens over Mach1.
-
yeah, its really screwed up atm. It's basically made for a joystick atm instead of a slider.... Really annoying. I'm sure they'll fix it, hopefully they'll fix this AND add the TDC axis for next week's patch. Atm you basically can't use it with a slider/dial... frustrating, but we expect little issues like this.
-
Man, I can't believe we don't have TDC axis... They have the Radar Elevation axis... I'm in love with the jet but damn, that seems like a small oversight with big ramifications. It totally screws up my controls! I hope they get it added for the next update, we had to wait months for RAZBAM to finally add it.........

That's great but this sim is just becoming more and more of a NATO Simulator. It's so sad to see ED completely neglect half of the history of aviation. I would give up the F-16 and the F-4 to see ONE fully modeled modern RedFor Jet. I understand the political problems with getting documentation but this scenario just keeps getting worse to the point where it's a friggin joke....
-
I feel certain this module will be the same price as the Hornet: $80. Maybe even more considering the Carrier and inclusion of a Tomcat Variation. $80 sounds right tho.

This looks to be the most complete turbine simulation ever achieved in flight simulation. Of course we can't say that conclusively until we play with it but this is definitely impressive. Raise that bar Heatblur!! Let the duel of the the most faithful aircraft simulations BEGIN! In this corner we have the ED/Belsimtek F/A-18 Hornet, and in this corner we have the Heatblur F-14 Tomcat. FIGHT'S ON
