Good Luck. ED has since long stopped listening to our pleas. Vote with your wallets, gentlemen. It's the only language they listen to. I Won't spend another dime untill I see the Mi-24 I even wish I could refund the Hornet and Tomcat, and I sure as hell aint paying no attention to the F-16 #butthurt

SU-25T has fixed code. 1113. SU-25A cant use buddy lazing. IIRC it also uses 1113, but for reasons it just doesnt work. KA-50 programming predates DCS World. It is harcoded and can only use the three settings on the panel and can only lase for other KA-50's We will see what the future brings for this

I seem to remember that the developers of the Syria map was Ugra Media, wasn't it? If so, it seems unlikely that any ED module would be bundled with it - or witheld to await release of it. As for our speculations of any time of release? Well anyones guess is as good as yours. Personally, I find speculating about such things to be pointless. It will be released when it will be released, and it seemes highly unlikely that it will be released before that.

Although I agree with all above, for me, what I am missing the most, is a more functional Infantry. It is soooo, important to many of the modules in DCS (see: all helicopters) Several Helos are more or less made for infantry support, transportation and combating. Infantry must also be ablet to embark and disembark on transport vehicles, and being able to enter buildings such as bunkers etc would also be very useful. Imagine flying Huey or Mi-8, transporting infantry. You will have to clear an area to make a safe insertion, then have your guys enter a building and extract a person. And even though some might see it as a joke, I do not - a FPS style infantry gameplay would be nothing less than AWESOME - Imagine integrating DCS with the likes of SQUAD. This has been discussed to death already, but when talking about DCS 3.0 > why not? Infantry gameplay, being able to embark on transports, with a CA ground commander directing the big picture. Machinegunners, Marksmen, MANPADS and RPG's as well as the common riflemen - with your buddies screaming overhead prviding CAS. This is what the A-10 and Su-25 was made for. Yes, Yes and YES

Alo note that when shkval is active, the airspeed is visible in the top left corner of the Shkval TV screen

Definitly worn out laser. I don't know what a "laser overheat warning" is. I have never seen that. But this is exacly what happens when the laser is worn out. I have experienced that alot. But since I read up on proper laser management, it has never happened again (unless I overuse the laser in an emergancy situation) Proceedure: 1. Always, ALWAYS wait for the cooldown timer on your HUD to reach zero before re-lasing or firing another shot. 2. Switch you laser off untill you really need it for ranging or firing. Dont keep it on when scanning. 3. For even longer service life, hit the RESET button after a missile impact, and count down the reminding timer in your head, before re-lasing (as the laser stays on a couple of seconds after impact) If you use your laser smart, and only when needed, it will have a lot longer serivce life, than you can stay alert and fit for fight in the pit. Good luck

[VR NOT SUPPORTED] First person VR view has reversed movement
Grodlund replied to Mr_sukebe's topic in Bugs and Problems
At the moment there is only one known workaround. Quit DCS and relaunch with VR off. You could try praying, but statistically it doesn't really work :( -
I do not understand. What do you concider wrong with my post? Are you saying the brightness and contrast knobs would affect the missiles ability to hit in the darkness of the night? Are you saying the missile will not hit whatever the laser shines on? Or are you saying that the missile cares if the pilot is blindfolded or not? *confused* :D
-
Technically, all lasers and light beams in generall are cones. It is impossible for the beam not to disperse over distance. And the Brightness and Contrast knobs are there in the real helicopter. Guess what they are ued for? Turning up the Brightness and Contrast in combination with NVG's is a means for you to SPOT the targets. As mentioned earlier, it does nothing for the actual helicopters targetting systems. The laser beam doesnt care if it's light or dark. If you shine the laser on something, the missile will hit it. Even if you close your eyes and are blindfolded.

Currently, there is no way to listen to AWACS/GCI in the KA-50 Presumably because of the modules age. With all other modules, you simply have to dial in the radio to the correct radio freq. As of now, doing this in the KA-50 does nothing. Even yhough you are on the correct freq, you hear nothing, and there is no option to call them on in radio menu.
-
Nah - the HOT-3 are radio command guided SACLOS. You always have to manually track the target with the optics. But as I said. I never had problems with the missile going wide after I adjust the sight to manually track with the Shkval at night. The system will guesstimate the range after you move the sight, and does so well enough to guide the missile to it's target. The secret is really to adjust the Shkval brightness and contrast untill you get a clear picture. Night Vision Gain can also be controlled by the left-most knob. The one usually used for controling the HMS reticle brightness

Thank you for responding. But I do not understand what you mean. I have had no problems ever, to engage moving (ground) targets at night. No combat vehicle we have in DCS moves fast enough to get away. I mean, it's not like we are fighting formula 1 cars, is it? Just move your targeting box and the missile will smash them to pieces in no time. The part about the laser cone went over my head. I lase once - get the range and fire. The system will update with (estimated) range when you move the sight. It's not perfect - but very, very far from useless. I would still give you an estimate kill prob of 70-80% You should really play around with this. Like every piece of equipment in DCS, practice makes perfect. Learning how to use the systems is part of the fun - at least for me. Nothing gets me more bored then LGBU bombing with Harrier from 15.000 meters with the TGP. It's just *yaaaawn* another automatic kill - why is there even a pilot in this seat? :D Edit: I will just assume you have the Gazelle. I wouldn't call it useless. I recon it's IRNV sight is as good as the Shkval with NVG's But the range is almost halved and it has no ability to lock what so ever. I would go so far as to call it much less effective than the Shark. Even with IRNV/FLIR
-
I am just curious. To you guys who demand a FLIR and say you are tiderd of "only being able to fly day missions" and say it's "useless at night" Why have you not even once commented or aknowledged the fact that the Helicopter performs exellent at night, when equipped with NVG's? Have you even tried this? Tone down all cockpit and instrument illumination - put on NVG's and turn down brightness of the Shkval. It works perfectly. You might not be able to get a LOCK with the Shkval - but it is in no way difficult to steer Vikhrs, even onto a moving target. I have presented this argument many times, in a civilized manner - yet you just ignore it and just jammer on about how useless it is without FLIR?
-
You all make good points. But as mentioned. The Helo was never made to operate in "High threat theatres" for once. Also, it was expected to be accompanied by other helicopters, Like the Mi-24 for example. What we have now is basically the worst case scenario. A theatre full of hostile radars, fighters, no way to listen to AWACS or GCI, and no accompanying Hinds.

I actually think the RIO can access all the Pilots switches. I have, from the backseat in the F-14 been able to adjust cnsole lights, flaps, gears, wing sweep and even the pilots tacan and radio panels. In VR, I can just "walk over" to the pilots pit and manipulate whatever I want. It's really neat when your pilot doesnt know what he is doing :D

My personal opinion has never been in question. But since you asked. Of course I anticipate the update. I will throw my wallet at the screen the second it goes on pre-order. And I wwill probably use the Igla's one way or another. Either on my wings or as part of a squadron. The relevant question was always if this was real or imagination. And It seemes we have come to the conclusion that it is the latter. Although, which I can agree to, a possible "logical end-game" of what could have or might come. Personally - that is not what I look for in DCS. But I am not arguing for a personal agenda. Edit: I feel i still must comment on the 3rd pyon crazyness though. The argument that the two helicoters have detachable wings and it's "easy" to just swap them around shows you clearly have no clue what you are talking about. Systems needs to be integrated into the avionics and fire control sysems. It's not F-ing LEGO we are talking about. Not gonna comment anymre on that. It's so stupid it makes me laugh. Not as much as the "infantry guy can carry an Igla"argument thoug. Sometimes you guys crack me up :D
-
I feel this discussion is derailing a bit. The question has never been if its physically possible to attach Igla's to the fuselage of the helicopter. Of course you can. With enough ductape you can attach Iglas, R-77 and everything you need. The question though, is, can it be integrated into the Helicopters systems. Your logic that án infantry guy can carry an igla doesnt hold. Are you suggesting you can just bolt it to the wing, and then the pilot is supposed to open the door and pull the trigger? And how is he supposed to hear the lock-tone from inside the cockpit over the noice of the rotors? I am 100% sure you could stick Iglas to the wing of a KA-50. you could, probably even do the wiring to get it integrated but there are still no proof, no anectdotes, no photos, nothing - that this has ever been done. and that is where this discussion really should end. Now. we ARE appearantly still getting this fantasy feature - so again. What are we really discussing?
-
Bear in mind that this is not a limitation of the R-77, but the modeling of the J-11. In the MiG-29S you can TWS lock up to two targets and fire withut switching to STT
-
Several posters have mentioned several times. KA-50 clearly left "experimental stage" There are 15 - 16 examples in service today. Plus possibly orders by India for over 300 Helicopters, as I pointed out earlier. The fact that an airframe keeps getting updated is not unique. You dont have to look further than Every other Military equipment ever to see that things keeps getting updated. That doesnt mean it's in an "experimental stage"

I sincerly think that fixing so we have a working HSI and working flap indicator lights should be a priority. I mean, external model in all it's glory. But the mod is about flying the aircraft, right? :)
