Took your mission from the track, changed from CAS to CAP for both F-4 and F-5 and they do attack.

You have the target symbol so you know the azimuth and relative altitude. On the range scale you will notice closing rate.

Bugs & issues
draconus replied to Sandman Simulations's topic in DCS: F-14B Operation Sandworm Campaign
Yes, and I have choosen to stay with the pack (remember the wingman was still on the hose) as a more realistic approach. The other option disappeared then. -
Crash upon release of 6xCBU-97 in F-15E on Caucasus

How was it solved? -
Must buy if you're Eagle fan. Otherwise you won't find many new toys here. +TFR +best DCS radar model +great FM

Bugs & issues
draconus replied to Sandman Simulations's topic in DCS: F-14B Operation Sandworm Campaign
#10: I made a mistake and have sent wingman to refuel too (but I know it's bugged atm, so is the tanker orbit unstable). The strike package have done its job and egressed so all fine but I got no RTB message. So I landed, got the music, all fine I guess. When approaching WP2 Jester says something short (can't remember) but there's no VO for it. -
Expectation on Air to Air missiles of the MiG-29A?
draconus replied to pepin1234's topic in DCS: MiG-29A Fulcrum
It's a dream about missile homing onto enemy airborne radars on fighters or AWACS. -
Triple IFF antenna under nose.

HuAF and roundel.

To the docs - perf charts and test data. Even those are not really representing one and only truth as some good RL pilot mentioned because every aircraft, even with the next serial number, is a bit different. So are engines. This is actually modeled in F-14 afaik. So there can be some deviations from data we have and that's fine and expected. Some things are hard or even impossible to be simulated in a sim but whatever can be - should be. The manuals tell you almost all how aircraft flies, what are its special quirks, what is hard and what can kill you. In DCS we will test the aircraft under conditions no sane test pilot would agree to, so obviously the data is lacking here and the physics model will have to suffice.

PAL mode locks ships instead of air targets right in front
draconus replied to SparrowLT's topic in Bugs and Problems
Or it instantly locked it again like in my test. -
No, a lot of models (AI aircraft including) are found in Bazar/World/Shapes. The new ones are also in the CoreMods\tech\HeavyMetalCore\Shapes. There's no one single place for all aircraft.

PAL mode locks ships instead of air targets right in front
draconus replied to SparrowLT's topic in Bugs and Problems
I tried to reproduce the same situation. Carrier is a big target and it's easily found whenever new search pattern starts. PAL press is not "next target" button. It just starts again the same pattern search so as long as you keep your nose pointing at the carrier it keeps being locked again. -
It's ok. Some AI aircraft have different files and folders.

Speak for yourself. We have NATOPS and -1, maybe some -34, we have performance charts, weapon and storage loadouts and restrictions, drag indexes, weight and balance docs, additional test data or academic docs on similar hardware, real pilot statements and checks, some CFD here and there... all enough to make it within 5% of error, which is considered very good for a simulation and if something is not like IRL - sooner or later someone points it out, finds a real video or mention yet another hard evidence and reports it. Contrary to what @cfrag said I want realism in simulation. Realism is fun for me. We probably have different definitions on realism and simulation though. I know DCS and my hardware limitations and try to operate within what we have.

PAL mode locks ships instead of air targets right in front
draconus replied to SparrowLT's topic in Bugs and Problems
Yes, PAL is pulse mode, like all pilot ACM modes. Use PLM and point it on the fighter if you see it. If not, tell Jester to lock him if the target is on the scope. -
We know - yet you can read in the e-shop: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/shop/terrains/south_atlantic_terrain/

Heatblur Simulation official patchnotes
draconus replied to Hrundel Slushkov's topic in Heatblur Simulations
Yeah, maybe on Phantom sub. -
It's all about new full fidelity aircraft.

While FC have its share of players I'm pretty sure majority of DCS players prefer full fidelity. You decide for yourself if it's good enough offering or your money's worth.

Not that it proves anything or it's not appreciated, no offence, but you'd think...

Depends on the module. You should really test F-14. I agree it would be nice if all modules have RWR better simulated.
