I dunno...you see my screenshot. I'm running off of Steam, maybe that is the difference? v6, boNes

Looks good on my end: in this screenshot the bandit is heading 215. I am heading about 030. TA is 35L. If it was still bugged the TA would have said something like 175 or so. v6, boNes

Just tried out the update. The 2nd line TA works fine now, thanks HB! v6, boNes

I can't seem to find the forum post where I was told about being able to make the Phoenix active in flight, even in a forum search. I know I asked it because I was asking people if it was possible since my pilot and I had to trash some Phoenixes after launch and before active so that we could defend against SAMs. Now in the Ward Carroll video, it seems to have gone from yes it can be done to maybe, depends...My post not being able to be found and the video changed? Hm, I smell a cover up conspiracy, hahaha! I will keep looking for that post. Well, isn't that just the same as firing it at a target via TWS? v6, boNes

I found out about what was called CTA (Command to active) which is, yes, based on the MSL OPTIONS section with the knob turned to PH ACT, on the DCS forums. The poster was a former RIO I believe. I had asked because I had Phoenixes in flight but were not yet active, and I had to trash them to go defensive from an enemy missile, wasting them. I thought it would be cool if you could command them to active so you can trun away and this poster said that you could in the real Tomcat in this way, but it wasn't set up in HB's yet. So, ATM, the switch is the RIO equivalent of the pilot flipping up the ACM cover in the front seat? So basically, when this is done, the Phoenix goes pitbull on the first target it sees? In the front seat do you have to put the target on the ADL or the gun cross first, or just in the general area? In the backseat, how would you target the bandit with PH ACT selected? Get a STT then fire, or just launch in TWS ahead of you with PH ACT selected and rely on the Phoenix finding the first target it sees? v6, boNes

CTA= Command to Active. It's the switch in the RIO set on the left vertical panel for the missile options where a Phoenix launched in TWS mode can be commanded to go to pitbull before its pre-programmed active time. That way if you have to break away to defend before the Phoenix goes pitbull, you can command it to pitbull and breakaway without trashing the shot. In the HB manual it is listed, but as not yet implemented, which led me to believe it is in the works. Is it? v6, boNes

Thanks, I saw that and was in the process of deleting my post right when you posted. See my changed post instead...I was wondering if you guys had plans to do Phoenix CTA yet...? Thanks. v6, boNes

I have VA installed and I have not had an IC problem. I hope the target aspect angle is resolved in time for the Wed hotfix! Any idea when Phoenix CTA will be implemented? That would be gold to me! v6, boNes

Can RIO jettison stores with out pilot command?
bonesvf103 replied to Gunfreak's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
Yes I too have seen pylons and weapons gone after taking a hit. I think I've even had missiles stay on after a hit but then they weren't working when I needed them. v6, boNes -
Thanks, I understand that and I can see the DL contacts fine, but the amount of information I get on them in the TID is not the same level as I would in the SA page in the Hornet. So, what are the best ways to mitigate that? In my post, for instance, I can tell the contact is friendly, but I can't tell if he's in my package, or an AI, unless I have that aircraft tell me his bullseye, which is hard to locate on the NavGrid with Jester working/messing with it, and if I'm in SP, I can't ask an AI what his bullseye is. So what do people do to get this to work for them? v6, boNes
-
So since the Tomcat is Link 4A/4C and there really isn't a way to see other aircraft that are Link 16 with any detail, how do you deal with this? I can, for instance, see a friendly but I'm not sure if he's part of my package or say an AI friendly. I can ask for his bullseye, but then I have to use the NavGrid and if I'm SP, well, Jester doesn't really help at all with the NavGrid. If I jump in back and do it, as soon as I go up front I think Jester switches it back or doesn't manipulate it like I need to. In MP it's worse since I can't hop in the backseat. Also I obviously can't just put my cursor on the datalink contact and have it give me callsign, aircraft type (if known) etc. So, how do you get better SA with Link 4 in a Link 16 world? v6, boNes

In either Zone V or Fear the Bones, hitting the backspace key to hide the joystick has no effect. Is there any way to remove the joystick so I can see the HSI better? This keystroke works in any other non-Reflected mission it seems. Thanks. v6, boNes

I recently bound my Steam modules to Standalone and the Supercarrier one refuses to validate. I already did a repair, and also did the other method of deleting the manifest.bin file, then running the longer repair and searching for extra files, but it still says it failed to validate and the 2 day limit thing. When running DCS, it is also not even listed in the ribbon on the bottom, but if I check the installed modules in the manager button at the top of the DCS menu, it shows that Supercarrier is installed. Any ideas?

OK, but if you decided to go back to standalone from Steam after that, you still can? It's not like one you decide to go back to Steam, you can't ever go Standalone again? Thanks. -

Let’s say you bind a steam module to dcs standalone, then decide to go back to Steam so you unbind it, but then decide later to bind it to dcs standalone again, will it let you? Or can you only bind it once? “7) When you click the "Unbind" button, all your Steam transferred licenses will be revoked and the binding removed.” the whole “license is revoked” thing concerns me. -

I asked Jester to do things like change the navgrid heading bith absolute and relative, and also to change sectors and center the NavGrid. He responds OK...but doesn't do squat. Is this a bug? Also, if I set a map marker and have him set it to say a steerpoint, sometimes it says map marker is out of range and tells me how many map markers are on the map. What does that mean? When I do get it to work, after making multiple map markers, I tell him map marker 1, 2, etc...but where do the numbers come from? Is it sequential from when you made the marker or something else? The number that shows up when you make a marker on the F10 map doesn't seem to be it. Thanks. v6, boNes

Even with the latest updates, I still have this problem at random. Any ideas? v6, boNes

I am referring to the chart that is in Chuck's guide, edition June 16, 2020, page 276. Pulse search is detection range of 60 and pulse single target track is 50. NOw seeing Draconus' comment, then I was interpreting it wrong. But aside from IFF being able to reach out probably the whole 200nm, what else good are the buttons above 50 nm if detection is only good to 60? Or are they only of use for large targets like bombers? v6, boNes
-
So if the pulse search has a max range of 60 nm because it has to process the ground returns, and the DDD range buttons are for pulse search (ie they don't work for pulse doppler modes), why then are there range buttons for as far as 200 miles away for the DDD? It would seem to me that the buttons beyond 50 miles would not do anything then. Now if I was in RWS or TWS, those buttons would not do anything since I am in a pulse doppler mode and thus I use the range knob below the TID, so what is the point of the higher range DDD buttons? Thanks! v6, boNes
