Yes I have used AIRIO hints. What that does is if you say a command but it is say incomplete, then the menu on the upper left will show the command and hint at what the rest of it should be. Set hints on and then say, "Track single" and you will see the message will hint "Track single [target ahead][bandit ahead][friendly ahead][first][target 1][target 2]..." etc etc. So now you would know to say "track single target ahead" instead of "track single", for example. v6, boNes

I lost my wingsweep, speedbrake, all my LANTIRN, and many of my RIO HCU keybinds. I was bale to restore some manually, but for some reason, it doe snot always see them coming from my HOTAS. Keystrokes work fine tough. Loved the training day LANTIRN mission too! v6, boNes

This is a carry over from another thread that I'm continuing here since it didn't really fit that thread. So I'm wondering about the Phoenix and its mechanics in the cockpit. 1. If I have the Phoenix selected and STT or PDSTT a target and then fire it, does the missile guide so far and then go active? Or does it basically become an expensive Sparrow? 2. If that particular missile lock is lost, will the missile switch to active? 3. If I have the ACM cover up in the front seat, and I put the gun cross on a target or in that target area, will the missile go active off the rail and hunt what was in that cross or cross area? 4. Is PH ACT in the backseat the equivalent of the ACM cover up in the front seat? 5. If I lock a target in the backseat then select PH ACT, will the missile go after that locked target pitbull off the bat? Thanks. v6, boNes

I usually put the indicator where it is barely on the block. When it's there, if you look at the HUD heading tape, if you pass 9 degrees of turn in about 9 seconds, you 'll have a 2 minute turn. Round it up to 10 seconds for ease and it's close enough. v6, boNes

I do the same but I don't set Jester to inactive. Haven't had a problem that way but maybe I should set him inactive. Anyway, it's a dance switching from fron to back seat back and forth but fun. I just wish LANTIRN could search a buddy lase. Iron dumb is, I agree, more accurate than I thought. I'm not a fan however with the CCIP pipper being on the BFL like it is because when it gets on target, it seems to always be right where it says "ORD" and I can't see it as well. CCRP--I haven't had good results for accuracy, at least not as much as CCIP (Really I should be saying computerr pilot, computer target). It's hard to see the upper and lower bomb cues. BUT...I still have fun with it! v6, boNes -
Yeah it's looking more coincidental than anything since last night. v6, boNes

OK, so when I took the screenshot, I estimated the bandit heading and such by glancing at it in external view and getting reading from there. So not the best estimate in the world, quick and dirties that led me to 35L being good. Really it should be more like 15L. Looking at the positions at the time, he would have to turn his head about 15 degrees left to see me on his nose. But my point was being it used to say 180 or 175 which I think we can all agree was WAAAAAY off, this was a much better improvement. So no, not fixed, but better than it was, and thus, worked better for me than before. Plus he might have changed heading and TA in the time that I switched back to cockpit view and took the screenshot. We were maneuvering after all. I tried it a few times again with more accurate numbers and it was the same way. So yeah, not quite fixed yet, but better than it was. v6, boNes

It used to say 180 which REALLY showcases the bug. here it is around 30 left which was about right since the bandit needed to turn about 30 deg left to be nose on to me. maybe it’s not as exact, but being it used to read 180 or close to it before when he was head on, I’d say that’s an improvement v6, boNes

I dunno...you see my screenshot. I'm running off of Steam, maybe that is the difference? v6, boNes

Looks good on my end: in this screenshot the bandit is heading 215. I am heading about 030. TA is 35L. If it was still bugged the TA would have said something like 175 or so. v6, boNes

Just tried out the update. The 2nd line TA works fine now, thanks HB! v6, boNes

I can't seem to find the forum post where I was told about being able to make the Phoenix active in flight, even in a forum search. I know I asked it because I was asking people if it was possible since my pilot and I had to trash some Phoenixes after launch and before active so that we could defend against SAMs. Now in the Ward Carroll video, it seems to have gone from yes it can be done to maybe, depends...My post not being able to be found and the video changed? Hm, I smell a cover up conspiracy, hahaha! I will keep looking for that post. Well, isn't that just the same as firing it at a target via TWS? v6, boNes

I found out about what was called CTA (Command to active) which is, yes, based on the MSL OPTIONS section with the knob turned to PH ACT, on the DCS forums. The poster was a former RIO I believe. I had asked because I had Phoenixes in flight but were not yet active, and I had to trash them to go defensive from an enemy missile, wasting them. I thought it would be cool if you could command them to active so you can trun away and this poster said that you could in the real Tomcat in this way, but it wasn't set up in HB's yet. So, ATM, the switch is the RIO equivalent of the pilot flipping up the ACM cover in the front seat? So basically, when this is done, the Phoenix goes pitbull on the first target it sees? In the front seat do you have to put the target on the ADL or the gun cross first, or just in the general area? In the backseat, how would you target the bandit with PH ACT selected? Get a STT then fire, or just launch in TWS ahead of you with PH ACT selected and rely on the Phoenix finding the first target it sees? v6, boNes
-
CTA= Command to Active. It's the switch in the RIO set on the left vertical panel for the missile options where a Phoenix launched in TWS mode can be commanded to go to pitbull before its pre-programmed active time. That way if you have to break away to defend before the Phoenix goes pitbull, you can command it to pitbull and breakaway without trashing the shot. In the HB manual it is listed, but as not yet implemented, which led me to believe it is in the works. Is it? v6, boNes

Thanks, I saw that and was in the process of deleting my post right when you posted. See my changed post instead...I was wondering if you guys had plans to do Phoenix CTA yet...? Thanks. v6, boNes

I have VA installed and I have not had an IC problem. I hope the target aspect angle is resolved in time for the Wed hotfix! Any idea when Phoenix CTA will be implemented? That would be gold to me! v6, boNes

Can RIO jettison stores with out pilot command?
bonesvf103 replied to Gunfreak's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
Yes I too have seen pylons and weapons gone after taking a hit. I think I've even had missiles stay on after a hit but then they weren't working when I needed them. v6, boNes -
Thanks, I understand that and I can see the DL contacts fine, but the amount of information I get on them in the TID is not the same level as I would in the SA page in the Hornet. So, what are the best ways to mitigate that? In my post, for instance, I can tell the contact is friendly, but I can't tell if he's in my package, or an AI, unless I have that aircraft tell me his bullseye, which is hard to locate on the NavGrid with Jester working/messing with it, and if I'm in SP, I can't ask an AI what his bullseye is. So what do people do to get this to work for them? v6, boNes
-
So since the Tomcat is Link 4A/4C and there really isn't a way to see other aircraft that are Link 16 with any detail, how do you deal with this? I can, for instance, see a friendly but I'm not sure if he's part of my package or say an AI friendly. I can ask for his bullseye, but then I have to use the NavGrid and if I'm SP, well, Jester doesn't really help at all with the NavGrid. If I jump in back and do it, as soon as I go up front I think Jester switches it back or doesn't manipulate it like I need to. In MP it's worse since I can't hop in the backseat. Also I obviously can't just put my cursor on the datalink contact and have it give me callsign, aircraft type (if known) etc. So, how do you get better SA with Link 4 in a Link 16 world? v6, boNes

In either Zone V or Fear the Bones, hitting the backspace key to hide the joystick has no effect. Is there any way to remove the joystick so I can see the HSI better? This keystroke works in any other non-Reflected mission it seems. Thanks. v6, boNes
