  1. What is the procedure to bolter in Case II and III? Do you have to go back to Marshall, or do you just reenter the pattern...? v6, boNes
  2. Just so you know, the ebracket is ratchety and inaccurate, even real Tomcat pilots don't even use it. v6, boNes
  3. I know the patch from last week caused worse problems for lighting in general, however, even before that patch, the AOA indexer was really dim. Ever since the start. Can anything be done to brighten it up even more? Thanks! v6, boNes
  4. Now, did anyone notice that if you choose MAVF standalone and your TPOD is on in the other MFD, that you can't slew the MAVF around, even if there is no designated target? I think the only way I was able to do so was to put the TPOD into standby or off. v6, boNes
  5. THAT did it! PTRKing is not enough. You also have to designate with the TPOD. Or alternatively, just use the Maverick stand alone. Thanks! v6, boNes
  6. OK, so I changed FOV to narrow before locking it on. On this run, I tracked with the TPOD with PTRK. The TPOD followed the target as it moved and the MAVF uncaged automatically and slewed to the target. I switched to the MAVF MFD and attempted to launch when it was in range. THere was the X on MAVF in the HUD and it did not launch. Now, I think I have done it before without designating with the TPOD after PTRKing it. But this was before the update. So maybe the update changed things? I am enroute to try it again this time with TPOD designation. AND RECLUSE! Let's fly sometime for old time's sake! Email me, my address is still the same. Me and the guys I fly with will be flying tonight. v6, boNes
  7. PM sent... v6, boNes
  8. My issue is I have the TPOD locked on the target in PTRK and designated. I hand it off to my MAVF. The MAVF automatically uncages and points to the target and locks on. "IN RNG" is in the HUD, but the crossout on the "MAVF" in the HUD never goes away and so I can't fire. Anyone know what's wrong? v6, boNes
  9. Well they did use NAS Fallon during the 80s for some TOPGUN training so... v6, boNes
  10. OMG, I refuse to trap in the Tomcat anymore. It's bad enough that the AOA indexer was dim no matter what you did. Now you can't see the indexer cues barely at all. I can't tell if I'm trimmed properly, if I should pitch up or down. Look at the screenies--and I angled the shadow to be on the indexer and zoomed in and I still can't see it unless I get really really close then it's dim and barely visible. The HUD is super dim also. And then when the sun shines on it, I mean forget it. This is so friggin bad. It's bad enough the LSO tells you bad information (he was saying I was low when I was way high, just horrible calls). It's such a waste of time trying to get a good trap in the Tomcat now. Heartbreaking. v6, boNes
  11. AS of a few days ago, beta and stable versions are equal. Here's one weird thing I noticed on the TPOD now: If you have the TDC in the TPOD and an IMAV in the other MFD, and you long press RAID/FOV/FLIR to change from the TV to the FLIR in the TPOD, it does not change. Instead, the IMAV changes FOV. The only way it seems to change the TPOD between FLIR and TV is to deselect the IMAV. Also if you select PTRK in the TPOD with the IMAV in the other screen, the IMAV appears to uncage itself to lock onto the target in the TPOD. I can't remember if this is correct--I thought before you had to unacge the IMAV yourself? I also found that caging uncaging the TPOD makes it slew completely to look at your 6:00 position, to whcih the onky ways to make it look ahead is to set it to standby then back to arm, or to slew it all 180 deg to the front which take FOREVER...! v6, boNes
  12. By default it seems the HUD is always deselected for the RWR on the EW page. That being the case, you must have turned yours on unknowingly if you don't know how to turn it off to remove the clutter...? v6, boNes
  13. Yes I have seen that also. The IFLOLS is still flashing waveoff when you come back AND the ball on it is still positioning per your approach. v6, boNes
  14. I've been flying traps in the Supercarrier for a long time and I really wonder how complete the LSO and IFLOLS is? There are lots of times when I am clearly high---the ball is green, the needles are low, and the LSO is saying I'm too low. There are lots of times when the new IFLOLS that pops up on the side says I'm high and the LSO says I'm low. And/or it doesn't coincide with the needles. There have been a few times lately where I was on centerline and on slope (based on the ball on the carrier) and the AOA indexer was perfect and then then suddenly the LSO yells waveoff and the grade is WO AFUIC So I don't know who to believe or listen to. In MP it is worse in a way as I have a buddy watching me on the LSO platform with the LOS panel and he tells me where I am based on the panel and the AI LSO is saying something else completely. In that case I listen to my buddy instead and he's right on. So that's why I ask. It seems so very off all the time, and I don't know which factor to beleive---LSO, mini IFLOLS, ICLS needles, or the boat IFLOLS. The boat IFLOLS and my eyeballs and the AOA indexer is what I tend to believe because they end up being accurate, but the LSO keeps giving bad guidance and I'm frustrated with the LSO calls. IT's as bad as Jester when he calls the bandit on my six when he is clearly on my nose. Also, if you are flying the instant action stock Case I Caucuses, are the LSO calls working differently compared to if you fly the instant action case I Supercarrier Caucuses? Could that be why the LSO is AFU? v6, boNes
  15. That would do it. Forget I had it set to realistic comms. Got it going but next question: when I got into the groove I never heard the LSO ask me to call the ball. Is this a bug? I'd still get direction from him though. v6, boNes
  16. You can do it in the front cockpit. You can also have Jester do it in the rear cockpit. This is the stock instant action mission. They specify tower freq as 127.5 in the briefing. v6, boNes
  17. YEs, you hit the radio comms "/" select ATC select CVN-72 select "inbound." No answers, no calls from anyone. Doesn't matter if it's easy comms or not, no answer. It used to work before yesterday. After yesterday's patch it stopped. v6, boNes
  18. Briefing said Tower was 127.5, both my radio in the front and Jester's radio was tuned to 127.5. <shrug> Maybe today's DCS update will fix that...? v6, boNes
  19. I found in MP that say if you are spawned near El 1 (ahead of the island), you can choose either cat 1 or cat 2. Whichever one you approach, they will activate without having to request launch. I concur that there is no wingfold/wingsweep signal. Be aware of this. I once launched with my wings folded. If I realized beforehand or used a checklist, it would not have happened. Good news was that I was still able to launch and climb safely (in full AB). v6, boNes
  20. ATM I don't think so. I've been using the free camera to "tour" around the hangar deck and such. v6, boNes
  21. Thanks, but I actually tried that already and it didn't work. v6, boNes
  22. After the patch yesterday, when I fly either the F-14 instant action Supercarrier Case I Caucuses CVN-73 mission or the Persian Gulf CVN-72 one, I hit check in and there is no response at all from Marshall, no matter how many times I call them. Anyone else get this? v6, boNes
  23. My buddies haven't been calling the ball with the radio menu and they still hear Jello. I tried it in the Hornet mission SP and got the same--no ball call but I still heard Jello. IN either case, no one ever called us to call the ball. v6, boNes
  24. After the patch yesterday, when I fly either the F-14 instant action Supercarrier Case I Caucuses CVN-73 mission or the Persian Gulf CVN-72 one, I hit check in and there is no response at all from Marshall, no matter how many times I call them. Anyone else get this? v6, boNesa
