  1. I like the huey as it’s my primary but to learn how helos operate from a fighter mentally the ka-50would be the easiest.
  2. I’m might upgr to a i 9700 cpu also and get the 1080ti with the most vram get two ssds one for os and one for dcs
  3. I agree cost would factor in and if it was a custom skin like I would like one for the huey with the 48rqs’ patch on the nose, my last name on the pilot door being able to specifically design what’s what like tail number etc
  4. I say the easiest to mast might be the first dcs came out with the black shark the computer flies it so you can run the weapons systems by that it has assists systems for roll, pitch and yaw plus iirc it has auto hover mode Yes it has complicated weapons and such but to learn to fly is easier.
  5. I doubt it it just will not be active. I figure with the new protective system being associated with your account it will check each time you startup and allow or not based on your account info and if your not online I bet it wil not allow after the deadline
  6. Imo they should do it prior to a aircraft or4 map being released or give 30 day trails before having to buy any mod. Other than maps I might not have bought all the mods I have, which is all . After a certain point I became a collector of mods since besides nttr and pg maps and the huey I don’t think other than downloading some mods I don’t think I’ve even went in ‘to the cockpit. I’ve tried a couple of the campaigns I mainly bought them for two reasons to learn from them both in the cockpit and in the mission editor then I learned to can’t pull up the triggers so that didn’t work.
  7. If you wish to use this ability it’s your choice in vr I rely on the kneeboard in dcs if I wasn’t in vr I would use a real one. I just wish you were. Able to relocate it on the display.
  8. If your not willing to read the manuals you will not be happy with dcs. If your ne to dcs it might be wife to learn dcs with a simple mod/aircraft. The yac is a beginning ac for pilots in the user. Next level up is the f5 then you can get in to the big fighters. You might wish to follow dThat path or go with the fc3 module with simpler design aircraft mods since they are not full clickable cockpits. But if you wish to save money then get the hornet and read the manuals watch all of wags videos since he shows you step by step how to fly the hornet and use the various systems. Try it out this weekend since the hornet and pg map are free this weekend to use and tryout. Download them go to YouTube find wags videos and start at cold and dark and take notes so you can review them in dcs.
  9. It’s allelectronics.com. Yes they are the cost is using leobedor’s pcb
  10. Best case for this is subscribe to a month to month subscription pay when you need it don’t when you don’t
  11. That should be the first free mod the first pay mod could be a newer version huey
  12. Us mkdir iirc to move your maps to another drive with free space
  13. It’s not a cheat just like a pilot making his map as he pass them
  14. Fire or hit?
  15. I hate to say this but maybe since dcs is a study level sim, even the fc3 aircraft require more than basic flight skills to master imo, it isn’t for you from your op.
  16. I’m thinking of catching a replay to early for me.
  17. I see you printedthe void areas is there a reason my ideal I to print open boxes with several panels for the lid instead of printing the top as part of the box and work top down I rather have I with switches on narrow panel stripsthe only internal printing will be for the pcb and a opening for the usb cable all connections should be in the box and the same for the second forward box and the outside box tha matches the throttle ‘s footprint. Plan is throttle, one box match it outboard of it ans two forward oe forward of the throttle and one in front of the ob box. I hope I’m able to get the controls(switches, buttons and rotary s) in the foot print I also have the tm mcfds switches and the ones on the throttle anf tm stick. That hopefully wi cover everything. I have a large box I was going to use for a button n box that if needed will replace the mcfds and hold max number of buttons ore toggles. Ok back to my question did you have to print the internal part for a reason? Was it to build a stronger box or some other reason?
  18. I have actually set it up yet but the goal is to create a button box(es) to simulate the huey cockpit functionality not in looks. Room and ability plus other reasons like multiple cockpits prevent that. Idea 1: use similar switch type as real ierotaryfor knobs, toggle for toggles and push button for push button. That way the action is the same. Idea 2: is use push buttons where possible to get the desired action like on the buss ess instead of turning a knob hit a bussbutton that does the command keys for bus ess. That saves money and programming. It’s the same as ing a multiposision knob except instead of twisting a knob you press the button. Saving the rotarys for volumes and most importantly the frequency changes both could also be done with push button but not as good since if your at one end of the freq scale and need to go to the other end turn quickly the slow until on freq with push button you either use two buttons for up and two for down one slow one fast or repetitive taps on a single button. My initial panels are going to make use of every connection on the boardi think some where around 64 connection s. So by using a push button for the multi position switches instead of a rotary which will have to program steps if possible. A rotary uses a ground anf three connections one for common one for ccw turning and one for cw turning. Which way in a vr pit would you want for a limited panel space.would you go implanning max panel space as follows one footprint the size of the tm warthog throttle two of the fuel control panels footprints that are in this forum iirc if not it’s in the one below. I’m going to try to lay condensed panels of only the switches to represent the actual panel.for each radio unit and weapons panel plus make a panel for the front dash holding the know and other switches for the flt and nav instruments. That cover comm, nav, flt, startup, shutdown and weapons plus a panel for f10 menu, another for the odd stuff we need done in the cockpit lit views and pause, exit etc and the fr controls like recenter, vr zoom did I forget something? I’ll be printing the box panels and special sensory addon for each panel so you can tell were your pointing to and locate your switch from there. This will more than likely be my beta version with tweaking of the switch and sensory device . In a perfect situation I could build a huey cockpit frame or at least pilots side and have everything in the correct location from the seat on a motion platform with 6dof But my best guess is to take the speedmaster flight on a platform that I have build button boxes for the controls and put them in connection with the throttle on the left side. With a large cress monitor mounted to the sears frame using vr and hopefully installing a 3dof motion platform under it. It still needs this button boxes but parts are on hand except the boxes which will require 3D printing once I get the printer and mak the files to build the boxes, the monitor that I haven’t chosen yet, tm tpr pedals as I’m taking out my puma and it will be my mobile trying device. I cpu for the pit that will be the top in all areas if I can get it. And the 3dof motion platform. This summer I was required to take a step back from flying to dreconfigure my pit which still is in works be cause life got in the way.be nice to have someone else locally interested in this. My problem is with the exception for medical appointment s I have no schedule so at this point it is ok we will do this tomorrow let’s say I have a bad night and tomorrow comes I’m not in to doing it and put it off finally the pit is the catch all so the first day I fill like working on it and have what I need I spend the day cleaning it off and around it so the next day the process starts over and since I don’t have everything like the new collective I just got the pedals I’m going to order next week and the monitor mount I’m not sure when they will arrive. Then hopefully by the time everything gets here I’ll be ready for them and can start flying all over again then build the button boxes and be happy until I can afford the motion platform after Xmas. Now which way would you go especially for the multi switches use in the startup rotary or push ,button knowing the latter will allow more functions.
  19. Why use andrino over the leobedar boards I understand you can program them for different tasks I have one or two in my kit but I prefer the simplicity of Leo boards and to be able to make each board unique to the aircraft by assigning switch functions in dcs since there boards are plugs play where it is seen and the ability to use them in zp11 also without any special software or configuration other than button assignment.
  20. I get my controls from all electronic.com
  21. What are the dimensions of the box?
  22. Well did it work?
  23. I’ve been sourcing my controls from allelectronics.com imo good quality parts at decent pricing
  24. Really like your idea I’m planning on buying a 3D printer as soon as my buddy finds the info on the one he suggests. If it does the 2 element printing with out change over I’ll probably get it. I’m planning on starting with several boxes with the foot print of the tm wh throttle for the first three at least then design them to be modular with in the box but each box will have there own Leobednor pc board so with the exception of the rotarys will be plug n play the rotary ‘s will need configuration with the PCb before being plug n play that way it will be usable in both dcs and xp11. I’m thinking the first will be condensed radio panels including the distribution panel.
  25. Nice setup was great you found a box that worked with the mount. I’m thinking of printing some boxes and panels r a huey vr setup
