  1. Or an airborne unit, ‘Wag-Force 1’?, as an Easter egg type thing. Randomly pops up crossing a map with an escort maybe twice a year determined by your system clock. If you can guard it from being shot down during its transit by enemy air, you get a gold star.
  2. I remember hearing of this years ago - still makes for eye-watering reading. The amount of things that could have ended the BN had things just been very slightly different - like the chute acting like a restraint - make for sobering thoughts. VERY lucky guy, very lucky crew.
  3. Love that bit with the engine out on the disc - pmsl! Nice one chap!
  4. Just thinking that, war loads for a certain target type can be changed due to environmental conditions in real ops if necessary.
  5. That must have been an awesome dive chap, beautiful.
  6. If you hover your mouse over the selections of weather types, you get an idea of the weather coverage. Failing that, if cloud coverage over target is too much, consider JDAM over LGB, or go iron?
  7. Fully agree with assigning a tanker.
  8. I did not say that, you have. All I had typed was that you seem to be contradicting yourself, then asked which arm you were. That was all.
  9. Give the M.E a go, you really are missing out on a substantial part of what DCS can do for you if you don’t. I swear by it.
  10. You do seem to be contradicting yourself quite a bit, you want full fidelity - yet advocate “just build the darn thing on assumed data”. What arm were you, if you don’t mind me asking? Spanish?
  11. First screen grab, the runway centerline texture occludes the underlying wire engagement zone marks (every runway end), and second grab - shows the civvy airport on Guam, with two parking spots designated "09", both next to each other.

    Map?

    Basic nav?
  13. Welcome to warfare, nobody fights fair. This being a ‘combat simulation’ with modules depicting as realistically as they can be, if you want fair then you either employ what you have but in a limited capacity, or go realistic and hope you brought the biggest blade to a knife fight.
  14. You’re right, it doesn’t have ‘Slammers’, you are right, Jester can be a little wtf at times, but one of the things the F-14 module has in spades - far and above the electric jets and flying laptops - is character, soul, and gives you satisfaction from taming a bird that doesn’t have half of NASA’s computers trying to stop it swapping ends during a turn. If you think the sole trick is lobbing -54’s from several hundred postal codes away and that is it, you are wrong. Very wrong. And it was revered back in the day for the same reasons as the F-4 before it, it was very good at what it does, and it was when flown well, unbeatable. Im sure we would be having the same conversation in 30 years time with people wondering what the F-22 was all about, and why was it so revered?. Same old same old. Point is, when the airframes were in service, they really were the best for what they were made to do. And just because certain types are either out of service, or considered obsolete - don’t think you are safe, turn your back or make a wrong move, and an antiquated has been can still thoroughly humiliate a newer type, even one considered better on all counts.
  15. I didn’t reference Sufa’s, the pics linked are Block 50 F-16’s (Chilean & Omani).

  17. Unique post . . . . Im guessing it will go the way of the other 3000 threads on the subject - it’s not gonna happen.
  18. Just for info, this mod seems to have an issue with the Military/Civil aircraft mod, none of those assets will show if this mod is active?
  19. That would be a benefit, and not aesthetically restrict your work to Sandy maps. I know that they can be put anywhere, but with models this good - and they really are - having the colours that fit with the two general area types (Sandy/green or camo) would be a boon. Regardless however, this pack is a must have, and thank you for your time and work.
  20. Interesting picture though, I’ll give it that. Regards the nape tanks though, I know 4 is permitted on the outboards, but the layout is a triple at the front with a single lower rear per MER. C of G reasons.
  21. Nope. That said, the drag from that load that you have shown would be crucifying, so as long as the targets are just outside the peri-track you may be okay. I hope that’s not a photograph! Full flap manoeuvres are a semi-prohibited thing, and dicey as hell.
  22. I have a feeling the two would go hand in hand to be honest, editing would go some way to alleviating the stress load, but people being people . . . .
  23. Well . . . This is going to be a ‘must have’! Nice work, and much needed to be honest.
  24. It would be great for true mission patterns, but realistically I don’t think it’s possible (atm). There would inevitably be trade-offs, not only that, to “flesh out” say a 800-1000 mile ingress would be hard on computing power. Would you want a bare bones world up to say 200 miles from your target area, or same detail availability all the way? Then units - the more units, the more computing power needed and before you know it, everyone will need to start taking out shares in Cray. Let’s say we go with the bare bones until in the poo option (detail-wise), guarantee some will relish it - long transit, maybe a few AAR hook ups,, then dip to low level for a 80 mile run to target, personally I would love it, I really would, but there will be those that would rather have pin sharp detail all the way, and nothing less. That would only benefit the ‘Cray twins’ with their bang wiz NASA supercomputers. The rest of us would have to suffer a slideshow. Trade-offs. As much as I would like it, it’s not going to happen without a severe graphical abilities overhaul, which may FUBAR other things.
