Nothing wrong with a nickname. It just seems odd to not market it under its official name. I don't foresee the RAZBAM F-15E being marketed under the name Mud Hen. Outside of the marketing angle, you can use whatever name you like. I've always used Falcon or Viper.
Varying cloud and weather patterns would be a welcome evolution to DCS. Would like to have the ability to set where certain weather conditions are occurring on a map. It would add to the immersion if you could fly out of Batumi under good conditions and head north but fly into a thunderstorm.
I just posted about this in another thread and didn't see this. I too would rather see them use its official moniker of Fighting Falcon over a nickname. I have the same gripe with the Warthog nickname getting overused for the A-10 as if it's the official name over Thunderbolt II.
I'm assuming it's all based on available information or lack there of. This is likely why ED can't do a more up-to-date version with systems like the JASSM or the APG-68 (V9).
After the lesson I took from the Hornet, it's going to be a long time before I probably buy the F-16. This is more true now after the recent changes by ED to model a slightly less capable version of the F-16C.
My only gripe with the Litening pod is that it will take up the center store which I usually like to use for carrying a fuel tank when I'm just taking one. Means if I only need one tank of extra fuel, I'll have to stick to the inner wing store and probably use a bomb on the other for ballast. This is one of the nice things ATFLIR will have is being smaller and taking up the one fuselage station.
We're in the middle the 2nd phase of the Hornet's development which includes the ATFLIR while I believe the A-G radar function will come in the 3rd phase of development. No dates but hopefully they will have the new FLIR renderer sorted by the end of summer. I still expect to see ED push one of the A-G modes out by the end of the year such as SEA mode.
Where it says Early Access Release. Will all of those items listed in Phase 1 be available on the release of EA then? Just want to remove any confusion.
Here's hoping that we have more finished systems for the F-16 at early access start than what the Hornet did, like the AIM-120, AIM-9X and JHMCS. Or at the very least, some of these weapons arrive much faster.
Well, my bad then.
So it's well known that the Colt Mk. 12 20mm cannons were prone to jamming when subjected to hard maneuvers. Wondering if this will be simulated in some fashion.
Hopefully we officially see the JSOW in the May 8th update with a Wags video here soon. I was kind of meh about it but after studying more of what it can do, I'm actually pretty hyped. Also, did I see the bomb actually evade oncoming missiles?
Since a flyable module for this is a loooong ways off if never happening at all, I'd atleast like to see an AI model for the F/A-18E or F Super Hornet developed. It would certainly fit in well with more modern campaigns set in the 2000s while working in conjunction with players flying the Legacy Hornet. Another great AI model could be the EA-6B.
According to the Update post, this F-8J is getting the more powerful J57-P420 over the P-20A engine so what were the big differences between the F-8 Hotel and Juliet?
Partially correct. The JSOW is a guided bomb with wings it uses to glide in. It has no propulsion. The AGM-84K SLAM-ER fits in as a smaller cruise missile. We'll see an even larger cruise missile in the AGM-158 JASSM when we get the F-16C down the road.
