Considering we haven't seen anything posted with it in a long time. I'm guessing 2023. Esspessially with all the system present in the Mudhen that they will have to constantly tweek

Here's a vid of some MiG-29A action yesterday on "When the Mountains Cry" map

Where can we let ED know about the constant warehouse bugs with updates issues. I think all of us who play and support this server should take some time to make all of our voices heard, because it's not fair for Alpenwolf to constantly have to correct the same problem time and again

Really? I think there is a bit of a missed opportunity for some Iran and Iraq war scenarios, especially since the MIG 23MLA looks to be a long way off, and it seem that heatblurs Iranian F-14A and the Mirage F1-EC look like they'll be release around the same time. I feel a mix of F-5s and F-14As vs MiG 21Bis and a bunch of Mirage F1's. especially when the later F1-EE comes out likely with Super 530Fs available to it will be a nice match up, but those are just my feelings personally. Part of the Charm of the F1 is it's almost a mercenary aircraft, by the amount of proliferation for countries that wanted something decent, but not super expensive, and the fact that now it is literally an aircraft flown by mercenaries.

radar needs to be pointed at the ground, or at terrain, and you need to wait 5 to 10 seconds and have it in search mode you need to wait about 5 to 10 seconds in search mode for it to kick in. and make sure there is terrain in the way, or the nose is pointed at the ground. Here are my current settings, running the latest NVidia drivers on a 1080ti with 9700k processor on 32 gigs of ram at 3200
-
Noticed this yesterday. It's not as bad as before, and it takes a few seconds to kick in, But if you point the nose at the ground, mountains or hills over 5-10 seconds time frame you will get a 10-30 fps drop, which goes away when you turn off the radar, or put it in beam mode, so it's caused by ground clutter. New drivers didn't help. Even if the cluttter dosen't show on screen

Time to do the MiG Flying Circus.

It's right at noon on a Friday for me, so I'd have to find a way to dodge work, would prefer Saturday if we can.

Not to mention the fact that with the taking off with around 10 Amraams your bringing up 10 million dollars worth of missiles that your going to need to justify the use of, which also severly limit the flight characteristics of the plane. That's why I like the Mirage 2000 and the MiG 29. Yeah we are only going to give you enough misslies to shoot down 1 maybe 2 planes, anything more and you went into a tactically bad situation to begin with and mistakes were made. Even F-15s bringing 7 amraams and 1 heater is more a show of force then anything. No Eagle pilot wants to get to the merge with more then half of that hanging off of them likely. You only ever see Su-27s with 4-6 missles top in real life, and most tomcats brought 2 AiM 54s for most situations.
-
Yeah love it when they strap as many bombs or missles as possible to a F-16 and or F/A 18. You guys realize that in no realistic engagement would you be expected to use all that, in the timeframe of your mission, and be able and come back and land safely without risking danage to the aircraft. Why do you think you only ever see no more then 2-4 bombs or ag missles on a multirole fighter?
-
Your kidding right? Alpenwolfs cold war server 1947-1991 is one of the most popluar servers during peak times, it needs a few more people from North America to fly on it so that it becomes busy in the evenings in the Americas, but look anytime around 2-3pm Eastern time and the server will easily have 30-50 plus people on.
-
Well i've heard 1 German pilot who flew the MiG 29 say that it seems US and Russian flares work well when used against missles from the same country. However that is just one pilots opinion, and using missiles for testing is expensive. So i'm guessing there aren't actually a whole lot of data points.

That's pretty much the case for any helicopter. I think people are going to be surprised the limitations the AH-64D is going to have with the cheese wheel, eight hellfires, 2 rocket pods and full fuel and ammo. (I'll be surprised if it's not beyond max take-off wieght with all that) The Huey though compared to the Mi-8 is way underpowered.

Currently it looks like it's the R-60m not sure about just the vanilla R-60. The developers have said that they are going to have the R-60ms able to lock on and engage ground targets like they did in afgahnistan against light targets. I feel it's going to be a loadout of 4 R60m, 4 9k114 Shturm (or 4 9M120 Ataka) and 2 S80 rocket pods. Keeps weight down (a bit), can engage air and light ground with R-60ms, armour with the Shturm or Ataka, and the S80s and guns to mop up.

Just Pre-Odrered this. Once it becomes availible in early access I'm going to be taking a break from the MiG 21Bis for a while.
-
Are the additional elements with "bomber" intercepts, and attacking ground targets ever going to be a thing again? Also will warbirds become availible in this server?

Mig 15 wins against the F-86 at any altitude if you keep the fight as vertical as possible with vertical loops. The goal is to keep turns as tight as possible while keeping your speed up by preventing the mig from shuddering in the vertical turns, that bleeds off energy. Make sure your MiG 15 has full throttle in the climbing portion of the loop (compensate with early throttle imputs to make up for the lag). Once you reach the top of the circle cut throttle to half for the downward portion, and use the airbrake if you need it to bleed a bit more speed. Once you do this a 2-4 times you will end up behind the saber who will inevetably try to take you horizontal. Don't fall for it, keep yourself vertical as much as possible using high yo-yo manuvers to keep your energy up and limit the G's pulled. You will get snap shot solutions at this point, or the Sabre will dive away and disengage.

So I've been playing around with the F-5 a bit, and the dogfight DM mode is very useful for finding targets you are in a dogfight with when your above them, and you've lost them visually in the weeds below you. The thing is, should the F-5s radar be able to do this? it's a pulse radar, and has no look-down-shoot down feature, and in search mode it can't find targets in ground clutter. So why in DM mode, is the radar able to lock on to a target that should be hidden in ground clutter with terrain (the ground) behind it? I assume that this is a bug?

Yeah on most aircraft you can bind request bogey dope to a hot key. Not as much an issue if you have human GCI
-
So I was wondering is there anyway to prioritize where GCI/AWACS channels fall in the list either individually player to player or for the mission in general. The issue is on maps with the MiG 15. Due to it's old radio it doesn't have frequency 124.00 so there are maps where if you do a boogey dope call with the hot key in the MiG 21 your calling the MiG 15 channel which is useless. As a result, while the blue team can generally always use the hotkey to get a corrisponding awacs, red mig 21 and mig 19 players can't. And instead have to press backslash, then F7, then F2, then F4 to get a boogey dope to the nearest bandit on scope, which is a bit of a pain when i'm banking on the deck brushing the treetops and trying to find bandits. This would also be nice on maps with multiple EWRs as you could prioritize calling the one nearest to you, for both side. I understand that this is just due to how DCS is setup, and it might not be posdible to change. I then wonder if anyone has found a workaround

Honestly, not a whole lot. Espessially if we pull harriers from tank heavy missions or until we get something like a AH-1W. However I can see the point that it has been availible on maps for a long long period of time. Pulling it completely right off the hop when the hind becomes availible is going to be jarring to those that fly it, and it's going to take some time to see how the new dynamic works with the Hind P and Kiowa in the mix. I'm fine with having a limited number in a few missions just like the F-14B and MiG 29A. The KA 50 just skims past the 1991 end date of the server, but it's tech is definetly from the 80s. If an AH-64A was in the mix i wouldn't have an issue, but the D though developed in the early 90s I feel is just pushing the limit a hair too much.
-
Ok. so for ground attack Red has the Ka-50, SU-25 and SU-25T Blue has ASJ-37 Viggen (a bit of a strech for cold war, Harrier(also a stretch), A-10A And Gazelle. When the Kiowa and Hind P come out they will be different but the capabilities of each won't outweigh dramarically what one has over the other. These plane sets are all close enough in ability as a whole to balance it out roughly If you bring the Apache D into the mix, what do you add to Red or take away from blue to even the capabilities? Because 1 AH-64 is easily going to do the work of 2 ka-50s and be much more harder to kill. We can make for the case of aurgument that the F-5 and MiG 21BiS are pretty much equal (and i stand by my original aurgument that the F-5 is better at ground punding by a hair and just a little worse at air to air by a hair) And the L-39 and C-101 are also roughly equivalent.
-
Not to mention better countermeasures and protection systems. Even if you got rid of the radar and limited the type of hellfires to just laser guided. The reduced workload in the Apache and it's vastly better situatuational awarness, sensors, and protection systems put it just too much above. If black shark 3 wasn't canceled and was allowed (which honestly i don't think it should) then maybe an apache D without radar (if that was an option) i'm ok with the Kiowa as it can't clear a farp in one go but the apache is like bringing an A-10C tank killer 2, (only better) into the server.
