Good FPS but high CPU frametime - what to check?
The_Nephilim replied to fargo007's topic in Virtual Reality
Well with the new card it is critical to uninstall the old drivers with DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller) and reinstall the nVidia drivers. -
Price Update! For Sale: MSI RTX 2080 Super Ventus OC
The_Nephilim replied to Migo's topic in For Sale
damn first to see it and I am broke lol!! -
well like you said it is off in open XR but I thought SteamVR Overides that setting?? anyhow have you tried turning down the resolution of your HMD??
-
it shows your reprojection ratio is at 52.6% and your dropped frames are thru the roof.. if you say it is off maybe it is not really, or something is wrong with your PC. What is the total rez you run in the G2 I see it is at 100% but what is the rez maybe it is too high.

Looking for Advice on PC Upgrade Direction
The_Nephilim replied to Specter1075's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
well I followed the advice of the experts and went with a new CPU,Motherboard and did not gain much if anything. I should have gotten a better Video Card when I had the chance and then Covid no no GPU's to be had I am on a que list but it has been many moons since I signed up.. The 6700k should push your new 3080ti pretty well. IF I could go back knowing what I know now I would have kept my old CPU 7600K and upgrade the video card.. As for the faster speed everybody says 3200 is the sweetspot but you could just try manually OC your RAM you should get a few hunderd more hz and the good thing is to see if there was a benefit just bench the current PC Put in the new video card and bench and try too OC the memory, then bench and you will see if there was any gain.. I, would say for now just throw the new video card in when you get it and remove the old drivers with DDU and reinstall new drivers and see how it performs. then you can get an idea by looking at some youtube videos of people with a newer CPU and that card and benchmarking some games hopefully you will find a few who did it with DCS and you will see firsthand if the improvement they got will be worth it too you.. What monitor/VR solution are you using? I will add this Cinebench test I did with my 9700K @ 4.8ghz Single core test. If you can find Cinebench R23 get it then you can compare your single core score with a newer CPU.. I have added my 10700K as well. the new 11th series does well but you gotta ask yourself just how many FPS/Frametimes do you need? so based on your monitor if it is only a 60hz monitor no point in going over 60FPS and so on. one reason is you work the GPU harder then it needs too and most modern CPU's still work well enough. I have a modern cpu but older GPU and I can get well over 100FPS in DCS, on my Monitor which is 1920 x 1080 60hz, with your 3080 you should be pushin alot more then that.. basically all I am saying is there is no need for all that horsepower with the "monitors Hz rate" being the governor on it. So depending on that you can kinda figure what kind system would be best for your use. for me with the G2 I could use a way more powerful GPU but with Motion Reprojection kinda helps out, while it would be nice just is not gonna happen. -

delete FXO and Metashaders folders in saved games? -
Hi Lurker, When you first setup the WMR G2 headset you are using Windows WMR and in there it asks if you are using seated position or Standing/Walking profile. If you select Sitting you will come up to a screen where it asks you to turn your head left and right to scan your area in the Seated position.. For this to work the best you need to have a well lit room plus it is not reccomended to have a blank/empty room. like if you are seated at your Desk and have speakers and such on the desk it should see them to base a reference point vs a blank wall..

An unusually bad case of the shimmers.
The_Nephilim replied to RackMonkey's topic in Virtual Reality
maybe MSAA setting in DCS?? nothing else fixes it for me but MSAA there is a x2 and x4 setting very taxing on the PC but worth it.. -
A YouTube to free up VRAM for WMR and SteamVR
The_Nephilim replied to Tshark's topic in Virtual Reality
Well to be Honest I don't think it does. I ran this program and while it did take off the vRam when In cliffhouse or Steam Room, when I fired up DCS I was still using the same amount of Vram usually for a mission.. -
Well I am unsure if DCS has a motion blu effect outside the ingame one.. If the other games are crystal clear that is wierd perhaps with the bigger screen motion blur is more noticable? yes that HDMI should be good.. have you tried any racing games on your setup? do you know the Monitors response rate?
