are you using the original shortcut DCS made on your desktop? if so that is not what you are supposed to use.
-
OK I see now so this is only for the Quest 2.. I was wondering in the Rift S do I need to set the panel distortion as well and not use the native rez?

HEY Lucky I PM'd you about the G2.. -
OK PM Inbound Lucky for the G2..
-
well maybe for the quest 2 IDK but he does mention if you are able to run a 1:1 PD 1.0 they there should be no need for SS. I read the tweet but it does not make sense that you would need to be higher then the panel res? I understand he noted Panel distortion but it still seems way high for a panel distortion. If I went that high 1.7 with my Rift S there is no way it would work with my current system in DCS.. But like you stated the problem persisted down to 1.0 well there could be something wrong somewhere in your system perhaps does not make sence that you lowered the res and still had stutters or whatnot?
-
Well to be honest your issue appears to be you are running to high resolution I seen your screenshot and in the OP you had 1.7x the res that is probally way too high.. In the other screenshot you had it at like 5000 something res that is not native.. Now I am not a fan boy but since I OC'd the snot out of my PC and I only have a 1080 GTX my game has been running with ASW 40FPS solid most times and I had pretty high settings.. What all you guys/gals are doing wrong is running the res and hz too high.. I have a Rift S and hardly see any issues.. whilst it is not perfect and get an occasional spike but overall very playable with lesser gear then some of you guys have.. my specs are in the sig if you have better then me and are running lower graphics well it is not all DCS's fault..

Hi, Well since you had this mod for a while I wanted to check in and ask how is it going. my main concern with this mod is that it will put to much inward pressure on the earlobes and cause slight pain in the lobes after some time was wondering if this is the case here? Was the sound better then with the gap in it or with the earmuffs.?

what headset do you have a G2?? the native rez of a G2 vis 2160x2160.. Do you have the Per application in Steam VR set for DCS??

I can't get the performance that I think I should.

but if your FPS are Constant @ 45 it is not disabled. I know what you see in your settings but perhaps that is broke. I would try and see if you can still edit the file in WMR.. -
EP-13 Sight in VR not very good sight wise?
The_Nephilim replied to The_Nephilim's topic in Bugs and Problems
Well I tried setting the rez higher in the Rift S and it seemed to have the opposite effect. when I was far away from the EP13 it looked fine but when I moved my head closer to it the wavy lines appeared. Wehn I have the normal rez the wavy lines are there far away but dissapear when getting closer to it.. I think I will just leave the rez where it is at and just move my head closer as that seemed to have made the wavy lines go away.. I tried with msaa x4 and there where still wavy lines so I dont think AA has any effect.. But I found a workaround for now thnx. -

EP-13 Sight in VR not very good sight wise?
The_Nephilim replied to The_Nephilim's topic in Bugs and Problems
OK I found a picture of what happens to the EP-13 ingame in VR. This Post is a picture of a cellphone screen. now note the wavy lines going vertical. it looks like that but the wavy lines move with my headmovement very distracting.. So basically it is either the headset or the EP-13. https://www.overclock.net/threads/can-one-of-you-gods-review-my-oc-please.1792789/ -

The_Nephilim replied to RackMonkey's topic in Virtual Reality
I'd say if your FPS are 45 constantly then you probally have Motion Reprojection enabled. if that is ON your GPU will not be pushed to the max.. Did you try and manually disable Motion reprojection? -
Hey Everybody, Like you I have been tweaking DCS for ages and countless hours. Well after all this time I think I reached Nirvana. I think with the Overclocking I been doing too all my PC components have helped, I even think enabling Hyperthread has even helped in my case. here are my PC SPecs: 1. Intel i7 10700K @ 5.0GHZ Noctua DS14 Cooler. 2. AsRock Z590 Phantom 4 AC motherboard. 3. G.Skill Trident RAM @3700 1.5v 32GB 4. Asus 1080 GTX @ 2100 mhz core, +550 Memory. 8GB Vram. 5. Oculus Rift S @ 1648x1776. 6. SoundBlaster Z Soundcard. Now at first I did not OC the GPU or the RAM except the XMP Profile. with the XMP Profile I was able to get the RAM to 3400 now I just OC it too 3700 tonight and going to try for more, but I am probally near its max. The GPU I recently Repasted it with some MX-4 Paste and got the Factory OC to even higher right now the core is 2100mhz full tilt and gets to 70c in game and stress test. the memory is Plus 550 with MSI Afterburner and a custom fan curve. The CPU has been @ 5ghz for sometime now but I just Turned on Hyperthread and I think that had a large part in why I can get my settings so high in DCS Now. here are the settings I am currently at: Now for the longest time a lot of settings where set too low especially the clouds. Distance setting I had on LOW now at High. Clouds where Standard and now at Ultra. I did turn off MSAAx2 for better clouds and with ASW I am steady at 40FPS. with the GPU Frametime at or below 22ms, CPU FT is also very low and mostly in the green. this was measured with fpsVR. So I am unsure what combo made me have these current settings which I have never came close to at now it probally is a combo of the OC'd GPU,CPU Ram and Hyperthreading.. I just wanted to put this out there that a little OC tweaking can sometimes make it happen. Now my System is yet to be Stress tested under current OC's but I do believe this PC is as Stable as it needs to be. I am going to try and Push the RAM a little higher and maybe turn the timings a little.. So far it has been great getting my old 1080GTX to perform as good as I was always hoping for it too. Now I know the rift S is a little lesser then the G2 I did have but I found higher Settings for it and it looks pretty good. Well that is it for now hope this envokes some setting tweaking for you as well, I was surprised how well I got this PC PErforming on Air.. if you have any questions I will try to answer to what I do know and not talk smack LOL!!

EP-13 Sight in VR not very good sight wise?
The_Nephilim replied to The_Nephilim's topic in Bugs and Problems
well it looks like wavy lines on the fresnel lens and not in the image. so it looks to be an undesired effect.. -
EP-13 Sight in VR not very good sight wise?
The_Nephilim replied to The_Nephilim's topic in Bugs and Problems
Well I was looking at some videos on youtube and maybe what I am seeing is a residue if a CRT Screen. so is the EP-13 in the Viggen a CRT Monitor guessing fromn the age I am pretty sure it is.. So maybe what I see is a residual of a CRT Screen. When I get within an inch of the screen the image cleans up. I also tried increasing the SS but it just made the game run with a high Frametime.. I am probally seeing what I should see and maybe never noticed it with my Projector setup? -
EP-13 Sight in VR not very good sight wise?
The_Nephilim replied to The_Nephilim's topic in Bugs and Problems
OK well I matched your DCS settings but I am unclear as to what SS you set in the VR Headsets. Do you only have it at 1.1 PD in game and 1.7SS in the VR Headset software or SteamVR??? I am still getting tyhey look like scan lines or something in the Image it is not clear. will try and mess with some more settings but if you could post your Ingame setting that would be great.. I know the Rift S is a little lacking but everything else seems clear to me except the EP-13.. I will see if I can get a ingame picture of it through the headset.. -
Hi Guys, ' I just got reinterested in the Viggen and currently use VR. I have looked for a similar topic just incase it was covered not mention of the issue with VR I think I am having. I tried the Beachead and tank busting mission and I noticed the EP-13 sight for the maverick is terrible. I am unable to make anything out in it sight wise.. I see some really wavy lines in it that obscure my seeing what is there. I thought this sight had a Fresnel lens in it to help it work better visually. In the beachead mission I can barely make out the Ships now before when I flew the Viggen with my Projector 3D Vision setup it looked much better then it does in VR. I have tried making adjustments to the brightnes and contrast it helps but very little. it is as if the sight is broke in VR, I am really not sure how to explain it but I was just wondering is the EP-13 Sight really that bad IRL for Visual, I know it is not a sniper pod or similar but when I used it before on my Old setup it was way much clearer and looked like a Fresnel lens was in it.. I will not be able to get a screenshot. I tried it with NO Mods I get the same effect. this is a brand new Windows install and DCS Install. I have a Rift S and use a 1638x1776 res for it.. specs should be in my Signature.

Put the following in the DCS Shortcut Target Line: DCS.exe" --force_steam_VR I have a Rift S and this is how I get Steam Vr to work..

Long standing VR CPU frametime spike issue
The_Nephilim replied to laertesson's topic in Virtual Reality
Well my CPU Frametimes are usually in the green it is my GPU Frametimes that are either in the orange or red spikes, I monitor ingame with fpsVR. so for me my GPU is the weaklink but I do get Spikes in both CPU,GPU when there is a missile fired by the AI or some explosions. When running DCS I use ASW with the Rift S, that seems to be best for me. I tried all the other settings and they seem to have either little to no effect ie, Disable Hot Plug. I was hoping a better GPU would have helped but in todays market and they way that has been I am unable to get a new card. So I have tried numerous tricks and tips even had a look at VR4DCS which had little to no effect for me. I am just hoping Vulcan will use yhardware to a better degree then DX11 does.. I know DX12 works well too but ED went with Vulkan. I am just living with what I got and am happy I even have a VR solution that works.. -
Long standing VR CPU frametime spike issue
The_Nephilim replied to laertesson's topic in Virtual Reality
Ahh they old mine runs fine.. Seems what people say is fine is very subjective.. I also seen people with way more beefier rigs then mine say it runs like crap. I did try toturn the clouds up to ultra and I had a steady frametime nightmare in a MP session. My settings are pretty low I have not tried the VR Presets but maybe I will give them a shot but not holding much hope. I always thought if I had a better video card that would help but seeing what I have seen and read that does not look like the answer too much either. I wait for Vulcan as it seemed to have done wonders with the other sim maybe we will have good luck when it comes too.. -
Long standing VR CPU frametime spike issue
The_Nephilim replied to laertesson's topic in Virtual Reality
You are right nothing I have done fixes it either and I feel it is just the way DCS Runs. I notice the Red spikes in fpsVR and nothing I have done seems to cure that issue. It is not having a nvme Drive that will cure it either so that is out I have a M.2 drive with speeds in the thousands and it still spikes the Frametimes in the red. So unsure if there is a golden BB here to be found. Maybe Vulcan will fix this I sure hope it does. but who knows for sure. Wish I had better news for you but maybe there is hope somehow.. Best thing to do is just turn some settings down. I have spent countless hours tweaking this game with just about every known trick nothing fixed it. I may have gotten the Frametimes down to an acceptable level but I always get the inevitible red spike sometimes get a stutter. -
When I look to the sides, I see double... ???(G2)
The_Nephilim replied to JEFX's topic in Virtual Reality
Well as it turns out I tried running with ASW Off and it might have been that plus a busy mission that made the ground object appear to double. I tried again with ASW on and it looked a bit smoother on ground objects to the side.. I will experiment some more but I think you are correct in that keeping ASW/Motion Reprojection on seems to keep it smoother looking? I thought it was the other way around..
