Heatblur Update - Supersize Me & Public Roadmap

I'm more than a little surprised that a "clicky" F-15 isn't part of the game already. -
Heatblur Update - Supersize Me & Public Roadmap
Nexus-6 replied to Cobra847's topic in Heatblur Simulations
I've got to hand it to you guys. You've never failed to surprise me. Admittedly, I've been away from the forums for a bit, but I was under the impression that only one early F-14A was being delivered. Now, I return and discover that, not only are we getting the -135, but it seems that at some point you've also decided to give us the -95 as well! And... When you first told us way back when that you were working on an aircraft other than the F-14, and then announced the A-6 as a flyable module sometime down the road, I thought, "Ok, that follows. It will dovetail nicely with the Tomcat and the Forrestal carrier." Now it appears you're building ANOTHER toy for our amusement. My imagination is swimming with what it could possibly be. Well done, Heatblur. I salute you. -
Most impressive.

Or Virgil...

More love for the Ironworks from Heatblur.

I enjoyed the interview a lot. It's always great to hear Bio talk Tomcats.
-
I just assumed it was one of those things that separated the sim from the real thing since there's no feel for what the aircraft is doing in DCS, and that real F-14 pilots didn't need to bother with it. I'm also positive I don't need a hug. That per diem check, however...
-
I wasn't being sardonic. I really didn't know that.
-
Huh. I always assumed we were told to put the wings in "BOMB" to make things easier because it's a sim and we're amateurs.
-
You're right. It most probably would be. However, the point is a moot one. Heatblur has stated multiple times that an F-14D and/or an F-14B with a Sparrowhawk is not coming anytime soon. Assuming it ever comes at all. Either would be great, but it's just not in the cards. But you know what? That's ok. They've done an incredible job with what we ARE getting, and it's considerably more than what you'll get if you bought another airframe. There are even those among us that view the A model as the definitive Tomcat since it was the most common variant in service. ;) Even me, who originally thought that I wouldn't have any use for it at all since I was getting a virtually identical F-14 with those beautiful GE engines, have warmed to it quite a bit.
-
If Heatblur was able to get us a Sparrowhawk, then yes, I'd get on board. Even if it was something I had to pay for. They've proven themselves to me in terms of quality, and I have no problem supporting them. However, I don't feel that there's anything "missing" with their F-14. Analogue gauges, a less sophisticated HUD, a constant balance of stick and rudder inputs...all of these things are part of the module's charm and make the experience more rewarding.

The Legit Discussion for PTID on the F-14B and late F-14A
Nexus-6 replied to SkyhawkDriver's topic in Heatblur Simulations
It would be great to have Tomcats of every variant and every feature in DCS. But it isn't going to happen. It just isn't. Heatblur have made their reasons clear over and over again. -
I particularly liked the story of that knucklehead who wanted to touch the refueling probe with his foot and got zapped hard enough to glow in the dark.
-
An F6F with a well modeled PTO would be a beautiful thing.
-
Nice. More Cold War stuff is always good news. I'm assuming that it's closest counterparts will be Heatblur's F-1A, RAZBAM's upcoming MiG-23 and ED's Phantom (whenever we actually get it). However, I know next to nothing about this aircraft. How will it measure up against others from the same era?
-
Yeah, she never did anything for me either.
-
I wouldn't worry too much about it. I'd be willing to wager that the bulk of us are deliriously happy with our Tomcat modules and couldn't care less if the glove vanes are there or not.

Patch Nov 18th - F-14A release - Feedback Thread
Nexus-6 replied to IronMike's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
Let's see...you want "feedback".... Well, I'd give you some, but everything I've noticed has already been posted, so instead I'll just say that I'm very enamored with the animation of the TF30's afterburner engaging. The F110 may be a better engine, but there's just something mesmerizing about watching those old motors breathing fire. -
A "cleaner" cockpit would be okay, I guess (if it was feasible, that is). But, to tell the truth, that would have only really helped me in the beginning. I stopped noticing the built in wear and tear after about a month. Now that I know where to look for the switch panel I want, I couldn't care less. And, as far as modex numbers...I'm not sure I ever took much notice of them in the first place. Lol
-
This is an online gaming community. People will complain about anything. Lol In all seriousness though, you're right. This is quite a bit more than what we were initially promised. Good God, the F-14B, plus a Forrestal class carrier, plus three variants of the A model?? That's a game all by itself right there.
-
Damn, is it even possible to make that engine nozzle animation look any better??

Something posted by mistake. An error.

Arguing with a fighter pilot because you play DCS or read an article is like arguing with a surgeon because you played Operation. Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk -
Probably from the same decade that produced Top Gun. If you look at a lot of films with a militaristic and/or patriotic plot from that era, you'll notice that they're pretty similar, thematically speaking.

Unbelievable. Do you struggle with reading comprehension, or do you just enjoy being mule headed? How many times do you need to have the same information repeated to you? If you can't grasp what you're being told by now, you never will. Go ahead and yank 10+ Gs out of your Tomcat in Mover's tournament if you think you have to, or because you heard some tangential story about Dale Snodgrass doing it at the end of his career, I couldn't care less. You'll have **** all to show for it either way. Now, I'm finished going in circles about this. I've got grown up shit to do. Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
