Thanks for this awesome work! I bet for a couple of people a new simpit challenge started with those shots. :) Oh and in my case, thanks jester for taking care of everything back there!

43" but its a compromise setup right now. I moved a couple of months ago to a new flat and i have to built a lot of stuff myself and didn't have much spare time in those 3 months to do anything. So our TV became also my main screen. But i am sitting like 1m away from it when i fly and i don't use a real fov with this setup. My last setup was built for simracing with a 24" triple screen setup and a real fov. With the jetseat, a ffb wheel and trackir it's unbelieveable immersive. Yeah for me it's the same. Visual identification is something i really enjoy. Also with the jet fighters when they don't have a proper radar with iff.

Please, dont forget about keybindings for „19”
erniedaoage replied to YoYo's topic in MiG-19 Farmer B
Another wish when we talk about the controls. Please could you make the bogey dope call bindable to a joystick button. So far the mig-21 is the only bird i can directly bind the Bogey Dope call to a button, every other plane i have to use Lwin+O. It's really annoying to reach out for the keyboard when you look for the target or close to a dogfight. Thank you! -
http://www.projectimmersion.com/fov/ this is for simracing but it still works also with flightsims. If you use dcs as it is the fov between the most modules is around 80-90° if you play on a 24" screen, where you sit 51cm away from it you would get a fov of 33°. You can zoom till 20° on default so which would mean you would be nearly zoomed in. If you stay 51 cm away from your screen you would need a screen with 75" that it would look real with a fov of 85° which is nearly the default value for all other planes. So you are not cheating because you are zooming in, you are always zoomed out. But if you wouldn't be zoomed out and you would have to play on a 24" screen you would only get a fov of 33° which is pretty useless if you have to fly and look at gauges. Its a compromise. For the spotting i also think that there needs to be an improvement that everybody with every resolution is able to spot the same things on the same detail level. I am using a 4k tv since a couple of months and its fabulous because i can switch off antialiasing completely and it looks still awesome, but spotting something became quite hard since iam not able anymore to see a single pixel moving against the sky. was a different story on my 1080 24". With the labels there is a chance to see something. And at your target chasing story thats how its gonna be in real life too i think. I mean you are flying with speeds around 350 - 500 kmh. If the guy in front of you moves quickly he's gone because of the speed. It's kinda like driving a formula one car down the start/finish straight and watching for the marker which says 50m and do a hard braking maneuver to get the turn done. It happens so fast and those guys not reaching 400kmh even. And if you would have a 75" screen where you don't have to zoom in to see the guy in front of you clearly it would be much easier because you have a 1:1 ratio like in real life.

zooming has nothing to do with using artificial binoculars. Read about field of view in video games and how to setup a correct fov for your airplane. VR users don't have that problem since they are already in the right place with their virutal ingame head while almost every user with a monitor has to compensate between seeing where he needs to fly, watching some gauges and dials and spotting something which would actually be bigger. If you wouldn't allow zooming dcs would have a recommendations of about a 55" screen or bigger, because you wouldn't see shit on a 27" screen or smaller. If you don't understand what i mean, take a picture frame with the size of your actual monitor and get into your car hold it at the same distance like your monitor and try to understand why there is a need of manipulating the field of view on the fly.

yes its possible i did it myself couple years ago with the same pedals, but i didn't enjoy it since i had a smaller travel range on my clutch and a much stiffer spring. And i had it setup like your picture so it was bit weird with the feel of the different pedals and travel range.

Since there is no mig-19 release so far and i got every other module i'm interested in, i will also happily donate to the server!

I am using a thrustmaster t-16000 set. I had an Saitek cyborg and one x-52 and if you compare it to the "cheap" thrustmaster set, the built quality is so much different. I mean all of them are made out of plastic, but the material difference is huge in my opinion. The TWCS set feels just right for 140 bucks, i paid less because my x52 died and i needed a replacement as soon as possible and ordered a used set for 115€. Still don't regret it best bang for your buck in this price range. If you want to invest in the future i would order a VKB or Virpil stick instead of the warthog, since the build quality of everything seems better on all reviews. But you won't get a set of VKB or Virpil Hotas for the same price as a warthog, thats for sure! And if you are into the A10 than its the best choice i think since all important buttons are on your hotas already.

Hey Alpenwolf can you please allow the player data export again. I really miss flying on your server. Thanks in advance!
-
Hi Alpenwolf thanks for setting up the player export! But its disabled again and jetseat is not working anymore. Did it reset with the merge of the open beta and the stable version? Thanks for all your work the missions are great and the rear aspect only setting is really interesting!!
-
Hi Alpenwolf! I tried other modules and none of them is working with my jetseat so i made a couple of screenshots from my server browser so you know what i mean with player data export.

** F-14 Development Update: December 2018 **
erniedaoage replied to Cobra847's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
With a release date, the train gets struck by a thunderbolt and is on his way back to the future! Gesendet von meinem Redmi Note 4 mit Tapatalk -
I tried yesterday and the ingame serverbrowser doesn't say yes on player data export. Which it does on burning skies, blueflag and the 104th for me and on those my jetseat is working. I gonna try tomorrow again to check out more modules. Gesendet von meinem Redmi Note 4 mit Tapatalk

hey alpenwolf is there a reason why player data export is disabled? seems like its the reason my jetseat is not working anymore on your server. Quite bad since i can't fly without it :)

I can already see complaints about the flightmodel and that some coalition has an advantage because they got the better parachute.

You can try out this mini campaign with 6 missions here: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=203468 i really enjoyed it sofar.
-
I would love to see some campaigns ported from that older famous ww2 sim which were called "Luftwaffe Pilot". Maybe someone knows them there were a couple of them on mission4today site. Luftwaffe Pilot : Legion Kondor, Battle of Britain, Afrika! and Defence of the Reich. I really enjoyed those campaigns back in the day, you took the role of Willi Jedermann and start with a couple of training missions in different aircraft, till you get your first 109 and join the condor legion in the spanish civil war. After that you get into different squadrons and take on your duty. All of those are really good write ups with a lot of story and good briefings. Those would be so immersive in dcs, maybe someone have the time to recreate them.

Im not to fond of the new cockpit lighting
erniedaoage replied to swartbyron's topic in MiG-29 for DCS World
Everything can be mapped with enough modifier buttons! :music_whistling: You just have to remember them all! I bet if i would use every hatswitch on my throttle as a modifier button i could fly every module with button 1-4 on the stick. :helpsmilie::smartass: You could even use a modifier with the axes and use the toe brakes to control the lightning knobs. :megalol: I really like DCS and its controls settings options, never ever had any issues with any controller or joystick. But back to topic. +1 for a more detailed lightning control options for all fc modules maybe i should add a wishlist thread. Would be good if you could use a range from 0-100% like within the high fidelity modules. Should be a rather simple solution to give a range from 0-100% instead of an on/off switch. -
Sure here it is, it's for the J-11A but it works best when you start a instant free flight and go to controls and start to adjust there since its gonna be different for every plane. I placed my strips so it works perfectly with the mig21, but every other module i have to adjust.
-
Yes it seems like mine has also a little bit more play than the others but as i mentioned before its not a problem for me since i always get a solid and feelable click when i push them.
-
Hello world, i found this idea on another game forum and thought its a great idea for dcs. So if you want an cheap and easy afterburner detent for your twcs throttle just put 2 velcro stripes at nearly the end of the throttle and adjust your throttle curveature ingame. Attached a picture of mine. Have fun!
-
also almost zero tension.
-
Using mine for a couple of months now the only thing which is a bit annoying is the lack of buttons on the stick itself. I help myself out with using the buttons on the throttle as modifiers. In that price range the system is the best you can buy. And its better to mount the throttle and stick somehow, which is quite easy since both use just 2 screws. Mounting the Pedals is a bit of a pain in the ass since u have to buy adapters from thrustmaster or figure out something on your own like i did. And even with the little play on most of the hats you feel a solid click when the button is pressed, so its not really a problem for me. And yeah screw the throttle as loose as you can to get rid of the stops. And the whole package feels way better and more solid than the saitek x52 and i got mine before madcatz took over and later logitech.
