Once and forever, let me explan what OPEN BETA is meant for.
erniedaoage replied to LordOrion's topic in Chit-Chat
My solution is i live with it as it is and hope it gets better over time which it does. And if my frustration from bugs, the ai or anything else gets bigger than the fun i get out of it, i take a break and play something else and just wait a couple of patches. It sucks if i am in the mood for jet era combat and dcs frustrates me too much at some point but that's life. -

Yes the problem is only that ed is the only hamburger company on the whole planet. No problem with complaining about stuff but its not like there are other options. -
No AI aircraft uses a professional fm as you call it. The flightmodel of all AI controlled planes are completely different to a player controlled one. Not only in flight simulations also in most other simulations. Because your pc is not capable of handling a lot of aircraft which would use the same flightmodel as u do. But honestly as long as there are enough factors at play which let you think they are using the same, its good enough. And yeah i know the ai can pull impossible maneuvers but that's maybe because ed is still implementing new factors into the ai model itself. I for myself prefer an ai which is almost impossible to beat, over an ai which is so stupid that itself is its worst enemy.

With all those experts here from software developing and business management my only question is, why haven't anybody started their own company becoming a competitor to ed? If you manage to do a couple of things better than ed you should have a huge customer base regarding a lot of comments here. All you need is a good business plan and a kickstarter campaign. -
A-4E Skyhawk: Will it work with Supercarrier?
erniedaoage replied to Thinder's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
That's unfortunately impossible, since the team would need an official license of the A4 and with that they could maybe become a 3rd party and get the sdk to implement all those features which are missing from the a4 like radio coms, etc.. You can also get the su33 which is an fc3 module (like the su25) to practice carrier ops and its also quite cheap to the other carrier modules. Just a suggestion. -
You can also find a couple of missions and campaigns in the User section of the main page here: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/index.php?set_filter=Y&arrFilter_pf%5Bfiletype%5D=&arrFilter_pf%5Bgameversion%5D=&arrFilter_pf%5Bfilelang%5D=&arrFilter_pf%5Baircraft%5D=393&arrFilter_DATE_CREATE_1_DAYS_TO_BACK=&CREATED_BY=&sort_by_order=TIMESTAMP_X_DESC&set_filter=Filter and in the forums here: https://forums.eagle.ru/forumdisplay.php?f=165

I wouldn't recommend the f-18,f-16,jf-17 or m-2000 if you look for a plane to fly which lets you feel it. Since you say you wanna play sp only i wouldn't recommend the f-5 either because you don't even get a campaign for that bird and the only thing available to buy are 2 campaigns in nevada. I would recommend the F14 even if you don't trust the ai in your back since its really an outstanding module on its own and you get a lot of content for it. The l39 is also a good choice when you wanna focus on the flying itself, the kursant campaign is great for it. Or you go with the viggen which isn't a fighter like some other birds but still a gread module with quite some content.

I am sure you would be able to combine one of those gym machines with your simpit. With an extremely engineered belt system you could crunch and twist your body with hundreds of kilograms. :D

As long as there will be a Forrestal campaign in the future i am happy :) Thanks for your efforts!

I am not sure if its already in or if its coming in a future patch, but the landing gear on the 21 should get/have got an update so that its possible to land on grass too, like the real world counterpart. So the 21 theoretically doesn't need a road :)

Gladiator and Ch Products have a really good reputation for being built to last. But sometimes hard to get a grab on those at least in my country. I started with a saitek cyborg 30€ stick, 2 buttons just broke in the first 8 months but i was already addicted and throw my money at a x52, lasted a couple of years but the spiking pot problem was there after like 4 months on 3 axis on the throttle. After i broke something inside the throttle unit i was completely pissed with saitek and went for a thrustmaste 16000 set. I also have a spike problem with the rocker on the throttle after like 1,5-2 years of daily use, but from a quality view, the t-16000 is the best cheap stick you can get. If you are going to mod it anyway look out for a used one they should be around 20-30€ and it doesn't matter if you get the old one or the newer one(orange color) since its the same inside. The precision is on par with the warthog stick since both use the same sensors but other gimbals. I did a little mod on my stick for helicopter flying where i just used 2 zipties to compress thee spring inside and it worked quite well to minimize the recenter spring force. The only issue i had the first time was that you need really small zipties else it could be that the bigger latches could get in the way and hinder your movement. Here are 2 vids of the mod. First one is original stick on the left and modded stick on the right. Second vid is how you do the mod with installation guide and you can get a look inside the joystick if you are curious about modding it.

Yeah i know for example with the ms ffb2 standalone i would use button 8 as my modifier button in dcs. But i would have to set a button to reset the trim in the simffb software where i would also like to use button 8 as a modifier to set and reset the trim with the same button in my case button 3. So button 3 for trimming and button 8+3 to reset the trim. But i would have to use a different button to reset the trim in the simffb software as it is right now. Maybe my problem is obsolete if the DCS ingame bindings overwrite the simffb bindings and thats what you wanna tell me. But i would like to use 2 buttons to reset the trim. :) Sorry if i wasn't clear enough, not a native speaker. :) Thank you!

Hi Malexx thanks for your work, could you possibly add a modfier button to the reset button so that i would trim with button 3 and use my modifier and button 3 to reset the trim? I got used to use modifiers within dcs in that way. Lock with a button, modifier with same button to unlock. Thanks in advance.

Is the X56 an upgrade over the T16k+TWCS?
erniedaoage replied to VC's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I went from a x52 to a t16000 complete set 2 years ago and my first impression was that the 16000 is so much better overall except the lack of buttons. But i use the 3 buttons on the throttle as modifiers. If you really wanna do an upgrade keep the throttle and go for vkb or virpil, since the resolution of the stick is the same as the warthog its to much money for a different grip/button layout. But just my opinion. I wanna get a vkb gunfighter but i still don't know if i should buy one or wait till the mk 3 arrives. -
I use all 3 pushbuttons on the throttle as modifiers. The 2 on the front of the throttle work also with the hats on the throttle, the thumb button on the other side i use only as a modifier for the stick buttons and hat switch. You can bind nearly all important things with those 3 modifiers and you can also use 2 modifiers at the same time for a different input on the same switch like shift and alt or shift and ctrl. If you are going to mount your throttle, you can also use a afterburner detent with 2 velcro stripes. Link for the little mod is in my signature.

Normal Camera to head-track?
erniedaoage replied to Mattern's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
You can also use open track with the aruco tracker which is a printed code u attach to a hat or your headphones and it tracks the marker instead of your face. -
I got the same problem, but i use the rocker for zoom. Usually WD40 gets rid of it for a couple of days. You can try to clean it or get a better/more durable pot instead.
-
If ED would set a real fov for every plane 99% of the complaints would be that people won't be able to see anything because everything is zoomed in too much. Zooming has nothing to do with using binoculars, it's just a compensation because nobody is sitting 1m away from a 75" screen to get the proper dimensions like in reality. And for sure there needs to be some solution because on 1080 resolution i can see the dots 15-20km away but in 4k i have trouble spotting them in 5km distance. But i rather use 4k and no AA and be on a disadvantage than going back to 1080 just to see the enemy sooner. And there is a padlock function for every aircraft in the controls section of it. You can set up any key or combination like with everything else, some people report that its also overwriting the tir device. So you could fly around with tir and as soon as u hit padlock in the dogfight your view is focused on the enemy bogey.

Would be a really good addition as a support/paratrooper/capture plane in a lot of multiplayer scenarios.

Proposal - instead of Force Feedback...
erniedaoage replied to mazex's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
You will not regret the forcefeel seat. For me its the best things in terms of immersion. I could fly with mouse and keyboard and still had the feeling to be sitting in an aircraft or race car. The only thing which could top the forcefeel seat is bergisons g-seat. But that one is on another budget level and not in production for now. The only problem you will run into is, you will not fly or race something without a proper support for it. :D -
As an example the MiG-19P release in open beta standalone took place at the beginning of march. And it took like a month to get it into stable and also on steam. According to DCS World weekend news. MiG-19P beta release: https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=3817576&postcount=185 MiG-19P Steam release: https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=3872233&postcount=190 But except for the delay in releases there is no difference which version you run except that you can't mix the modules you bought on steam and standalone. If you already have all your modules in steam keep it there and buy new ones there. Except you have enough money left to support ed than buy it again in the standalone version. :)

ED please make option to block this Cheat??
erniedaoage replied to CoBlue's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Since you get a new a new airplane on every mission start it's completely obsolete for me to perform virtual tests. I know its new and it will function properly. I am old enough to know that i will never be able to fly one of those aircraft. No need to learn and perform obsolete tests for me in my spare time which is not quite much. Yes there is no real need for it, but if you wanna progress in some way you will learn whats important for you in different situations. The start up procedure is something i learn at the end of my modules, at the time when i think i am ready to fly on a server. And in singleplayer there are no consequences so far, you die, fly again, you didn't manage to complete the given task, fly again, you killed a friendly, fly again. When you limit the lives of your virtual pilot like some servers do, then you have to face some consequences if you do stupid things. And people not knowing anything are hardly a threat to pilots who know their business even a little bit. -
[DCS BUG] Rudder pedals 'RZ' binding issue

Had the same problem with 2 other modules at different times and it was always fixed with a dcs repair for me. -
[BUG] F-14 Won't Launch From Carrier, All Parameters Met
erniedaoage replied to SonofEil's topic in Bugs and Problems
For me it seems that the F-14 is not physically attached to the shuttle because when the deck sliding starts to happen, i could observe that the Launch Bar icon on the caution panel also starts to come on and off. It seems to me that the aircraft is sliding out of the shuttle area even if you are already hooked. My solution to the problem is that i observe the caution panel for the Launch Bar to light up again and hit salute as quickly as possible.
