Problems installing latest update
silverdevil replied to captain_dalan's topic in Installation Problems
first thing to try is add exceptions to all the DCS relevant folders in your AV software. it is a DLL and likely got flagged by the AV. example for defender. -
its been stated in other threads that the new map is sehr beliebt. and servers are overloaded. i was able to get the patch and the map downloaded after an unusually long time. set it and forget it to do overnight.

hello all. i have a question. i own CA and have never really used it. i thought i would make a little mission to drive around parts of where i was stationed in germany. i placed an m60a3 (my tank when i was there) on the map. i see nowhere to make it PLAYER like the AC do in ME. what am i doing wrong? are there vehicles that cannot be operated by PLAYER maybe. sorry like i said n00b question. thanks!

Help - how to bind a key to zoom when using Tobii 5?
silverdevil replied to goot66's topic in General Bugs
hello, i use trackIR personally. i have a couple other zoom bind possibilities. one i currently use is the hat on joystick. i have a modifier button on throttle so i can still trim with the hat. this happens less than zooming. my f-16 throttle has a little round lever that also has a pressable button. -

.trk file fails to load with 'unexpected end of track' error
silverdevil replied to buceador's topic in General Bugs
i have not personally had this issue. i seem to remember seeing it in the forum. i cannot find it though. is this track created with a previous version of DCS? i extracted the track and was able to confirm that you made this track with latest version. 2404051500 DCS/2.9.15.9408 (x86_64; MT; Windows NT 10.0.22631) GermanyCW.25 -

dcs 2.9.10.4160 install from scratch
silverdevil replied to Grubenstein's topic in Installation Problems
hello. this command prompt line used to work. DCS_updater.exe update 2.9.10.4160@openbeta this needs to match your environment!! also look here @SkateZilla provides a utility that can do this in GUI fashion. -
great minds think alike brother.

bravo BN. although it likely helped users get to resources, i knew editing HOST was going to sting later. i wished i had a dollar for every client i had to troubleshoot because of HOST. sometimes bad engineers like to make something work and then walk away. then no change logs. SMH.

hello. you have at least one custom mod that could be causing your problem. SH-60B you should try to disable any mods and run a repair.
-
no problems for me so far. updated without issue. eastern Virginia, US.

hello again. the reliability monitor is essentially information derived from standard event viewer logs. there are likely (or should be) similar information there that is in the report you shared. D3DCOMPILER_47.dll is a file in directx. you may have a corrupted file. have you run system file checker? sfc /scannow Open Command Prompt as Administrator: Type sfc /scannow and press Enter. Wait for completion: The command will scan your system files and attempt to repair any corrupted ones. Reboot if prompted: After the scan, you might be prompted to restart your computer.

hello. you should post your DCS.LOG from saved games. also, if true, 16 GB is likely your issue. it is low end, if not under minimum requirements. also check to see if you have exception in your AV software.

@Martallica hello. i dropped your log from 4/11 crash into analyzer. Errors Hot plug Events Disable hot plug in your CONTROLS section. Your DCS has crashed The crash occurred inside edCore.dll. PLEASE REMOVE ANY CUSTOM MODS FIRST AND CHECK, IF THE ISSUE PERSISTS! If that does not help: Try a !repair. Delete Saved Games\DCS\fxo and metashaders2 and try again. Next, delete %LOCALAPPDATA%\TEMP\DCS and try again. Next, try renaming Saved Games\DCS to DCS.old and try again. Carry out the suggested repair steps one after the other. If all fails, open a !support ticket. Tuning Tips Set Preload Radius to max. 60000. Tuning tips are recommendations for better FPS based on your CPU, GPU and RAM. They might result in slightly decreased display quality.

The Ocasional FPS Drops In Full Fidelity Aircraft
silverdevil replied to FierceLV's topic in Game Performance Bugs
please do not take my comments as an argument but as a hopefully a creative discussion. you seem like a guy with a scientific background considering your detailed explanation. the empirical data is that you have a computer that was plenty a few years ago. now with all the changes to dcs over those years, our systems are no longer plenty. also, if everyone using dcs were dealing with the same problems as you are, it would not be nearly as popular as it is. there are other items i shared you could change to make the experience better. scientific method has to be employed to make the situation better for you. with that said, i have a system with 128 GB of RAM, an 11 series CPU, and a 3090 gfx card. i have none of the problems you mention. i do not park cores or any of the other workarounds i see in the forums. there are other things in the tips that you can try too before giving up on it. and believe me when i say, anything you do to improve the performance of dcs is not going to hinder or have detrimental effect on the overall performance of your computer. -
make sure you use a good NTP server to grab the correct time. and as @draconus said, root cause is likely the motherboard CMOS. though this can also cause the motherboard not to "remember" other settings like drives, RAM settings, etc.
